Ted Cruz on Wednesday mocked Donald Trump for bowing out of a debate next week in Salt Lake City, and the Texas senator vowed to call out the GOP front-runner at a gathering of a major pro-Israel lobby group next week.
Trump said earlier in the day that he would not participate in the Fox News debate in Utah on Monday, and John Kasich quickly said that he wouldn't attend if Trump didn't. Later on Wednesday, Fox News formally canceled the event.
Trump said he would use his time instead on Monday to address a conference hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the prominent pro-Israel group. Cruz's campaign said in a statement Wednesday that Cruz would use his time at the same conference to "highlight Trump's positions -- or lack thereof -- in front of the thousands of AIPAC members in attendance."

I do admit, that debate was not his best performance overall.
Fatal mistake by Cruz....to ride in Trump’s wake all summer and fall. Cruz never attacked Trump, until it was too late. Timing is everything in politics and stock market.

One or two more BLM protest riots followed by more Cruz siding with Obama and the MSM blaming Trump for it all, and Cruz will be down to single digits, where he belongs.
Trump should attempt to negotiate with Cruz to get him to stop his ugly attacks and to accept a supreme court position. This will pacify the last 10 or 15 percent of the Glenn Beck audience.
As for whether or not it works: depends on Cruz's greed and whether he begins to believe his future is with Trump or if it's with the Establishment. All data points so far suggest Cruz will go with the establishment.
However, as Cruz continues his vicious attacks on Trump, he runs the risk of alienating his own support base. Just as we've seen this forum go from evenly divided between Trump and Cruz to almost entirely all for Trump, the whole country will turn into that, provided Cruz keeps opening his mouth and is noticed.

It's there; it explains the die hard support, albeit dwindling, for Cruz after he blamed Trump for the left wing protesters. Once one understands the religious aspect it makes sense. It's why Cruz outperforms his polls but can't expand his base; he's trying to expand his base by attacking Trump, hoping others who hate Trump will join him; thus the left wing protesters are viewed as allies in Cruz' war with Trump.
And then you side with Cruz, Hillary and Bernie and their protesters against Trump and his millions of supporters' Constitutional right to free speech...Something wrong with that picture...

I like Trump’s stated position on borders and immigration. It’s the only reason to support him IMHO. Unfortunately he has so little consistency on anything, and such a deep left-leaning history, that it is hard to take any of his promises seriously, including those on borders/immig.
My greatest problem with Trump, however, is that I think he’s going to get destroyed in the general election. If he gets the nomination, fine, I’m all in for Trump. Better a roulette wheel than certain national destruction with Clinton - but I think it’s going to end in tears in November.
And while I can eventually support Trump, what I don’t have to do is go along with the fiction, currently in favor at FR, that he is any sort of conservative, principled or otherwise.
This guy needs to be rebuked in the mightiest fashion.

Probably none, but I heard reports that Cruz made that offer to Rubio (appoint me to the Supreme Court and I'll drop out), which makes me think there is a possibility Cruz is dumb enough to accept such a promise.
