Should Trump and Cruz unite with we the people against the establishment uni-party?

Posted on 03/16/2016 1:31:00 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

The biggest plus is a Trump/Cruz ticket would immediately secure the nomination for us (the majority of the right-leaning grassroots voters), end any possibility of a GOPe betrayal at the convention, and would ensure the Republican party is finally with we the grassroots people (tea party, conservatives, religious people, economic conservatives, business people, middle class, blue collar, national security patriots, etc, ie, a rebirth of the Reagan Coalition) and against the globalist GOP big government establishment. It’d be a yuuuge middle finger to the elite ruling classes of both parties.

And it would have coattails guaranteeing a pro-America landslide against the America-hating Marxists and a strengthening of the Republican majority in the congress and in local and state governments. And finally begin a return to constitutional, pro-America, pro-free-market government and a reversal of the slide into godless socialism and globalism.

A mandate from we the people to secure the borders, enforce the law, deport the illegals, end sanctuary cities, end the war on Christianity, cut the taxes, cut the government, cut the regulations, end the war on American industry, end the war on coal gas & oil, bring back a growing economy, bring back manufacturing and jobs, and rebuild the military.

Unlike the GOPe, this is what real Americans want and what both candidates propose doing.

So let’s quit bickering, join forces, and make it happen.

I could live with that. In fact, that would create a dynamic duo.

I think they could be a dynamic duo and it would position Cruz perfectly for 2020 or 2024.

You had a fine idea.
It might have worked except that Ted Cruz continues to shoot himself in the foot.
I take back what I said yesterday (that a Trump/Cruz ticket would be fine)

It's not.

Jim,
I would have been leery of this a month ago, but at this stage of the game I think it is the only way we are going to by pass the Republican establishment and defeat Hillary in November.
If the battle remains Trump vs Cruz, with such hate and bickering, it will end up a landslide on the wrong side of the aisle.
We know what the Hillary would mean and where she stands..
That we must vote against...

SO having said that, I think barring any unexpected and unacceptable position changes with Trump I am for this ticket.

Of course he wouldn’t. I guess my post from a friend wasn’t clear enough as you missed her point.

Concerning what Cruz would bring to a Trump ticket her point is well taken. Cruz has done things that have diminished his popularity.

Cruz teaming up with Glenn Beck, his ties to Bush and big money PACS, blaming Trump for the Leftist Violence Groups in Chicago, and now his statement about going to AIPAC to confront Trump about not attending the FOX debate. If Cruz does that he will certainly not appear “Presidential”!

BTW, Was Cruz invited to speak at AIPAC? If so, why did he pass up on the invitation?

His only goal is to damage the Trump brand.

That's so mean! I can't believe you would say that about Cruz.

I am not being mean. I just listen to Cruz's statements and seems to me he continues to blame Trump for violence that is obviously coming from Left.

I recall something Andrew Breitbart said:

“The truth isn't mean, it's just the truth.”

We need to understand the GOPe’s full playbook options before making this move... the time will be ripe soon...

I'd much rather see Cruz on SCOTUS for the next 40 years.

I am agnostic about a Trump presidency. He knows what people want to hear and says it. He's written about that strategy.

I play to people’s fantasies ... It's an innocent form of exaggeration - and a very effective form of promotion.
~ Donald Trump

His campaign is the ultimate sales job and he is a charmer. What I want to know is whether or not the product is any good. He has sold good and bad products. So his track record is of little value in judging the current product. I've read all the brochures. They're great. Unfortunately, I'll have to buy it before I can try it.

Cruz is almost the polar opposite. He has a great product. He demonstrates it with skilled expertise, but his sales routine seems rote and sometimes smarmy. He should be in product design and development not sales.

Will I support Trump/Cruz? Yes. Will I be an enthusiastic buyer? No.

The product better damn well work. If it doesn't, I won't be asking for a refund. I'll lead an angry mob to set the factory on fire.

you are correct that we are far from free markets (in any industry) and it’s because of economic policies that stifle/interfere with free markets. the tax code, tarriffs and regulations interfere with rational exchanges between consumers & producers and unintended consequences occur much more frequently than the intended consequences.

rolling back FDR tax policy that incentivized businesses to provide health insurance to employees (effectively lowering take-home pay) would be a good start down an admittedly long path to a free market.

“There are no Trump scandals because everybody already knows everything.”

By that bonehead logic there are No Hillary Scandals because we all know about them.

But you were the one throwing out a claim that there is a Cruz scandal waiting to break. But I see, to a Trumpmaniac he has zero scandals because he was born of a virgin birth.

Your comparison of Hillary to Trump collapses upon a moments scrutiny.

There ARE Hillary scandals because:

The general public does NOT know about them, only consumers of alternative media;

They are FELONIOUS, and therefore the fact that she is not in prison is itself a scandal and proof of massive corruption.

There will be Cruz scandals—and Holy Ted will not survive them because, unlike Trump, he puts on the Holy Roller schtick.

TRUMP could build the economy
CRUZ could negate the OBAMA Executive Orders

It seems the delegates have the same idea:

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/03/19/trump-cruz-delegates-in-tn-join-forces-again-to-stop-gop-establishment/

“Trump, Cruz Delegates in TN Join Forces Again to Stop GOP Establishment”

As we get closer to the convention, and we have a better handle on exactly what the situation will be, I expect cooler heads in both the Trump & Cruz camps will prevail. They may not like each other, but allowing the establishment to hand the nomination to Kasich or a never-ran like Romney or Ryan would be more than they could stomach.

It’s not a bad idea but I don’t know if Cruz as a VP pick would help Trump out that much in the generals. They are getting the same type of voters for the most part.
Trump should have said, when asked about supreme court choices, that he would nominate Ted Cruz.

Trump may be a lot of things but he’s not stupid.

How’s he going to explain repeatedly calling Cruz one of the most dishonest guys he’s ever met? He’s done it in the debates and at numerous rallies. He’s done it over many months. It wasn’t a one-time slip of the tongue.

Most of those occasions are on youtube and would run endlessly in opposition ads.

Neither do I see how Trump could nominate Cruz for chief of staff, AG, nor any post in his administration, SCOTUS or any position requiring Senate approval. Senators from both parties despise Cruz and these videos are all they need to kick his nomination to the curb.

He doesn't have to. He could pull out a gun and shoot someone on the street in broad daylight and his followers would still support him.

That's only during the honeymoon. The Donald will show us who he really is once he's in office. (I say that as someone who voted for him in the FL primary.) I'm prepared to be both surprised and disappointed - sort of like how I am with other politicians.
