Breaking: Cruz Negotiating With Trump for VP Spot

A high ranking Cruz campaign official has told Elect Leaders that Sen. Cruz is in negotiations with Mr. Trump to become his Vice Presidential Nominee after Rubio dropped out Tuesday. Sen. Cruz has been the most consistent performer in primaries behind Trump. They are seeing the writing on the wall and want to negotiate from a point of strength which will evaporate over time.

The official stated Mr. Trump is interested in using Sen. Cruz’s ground game in the general election, likes his appeal to the conservative base and his stance on immigration. Of the other options for VP none hold as strong of an opinion on immigration outside of Governor Jan Brewer from Arizona who is also being considered.

Senator Cruz in exchange for his support is wanting to be named to the Supreme Court if an opening occurs while Mr. Trump is president. Mr. Trump does not see this as an issue and a small price to pay to bring Sen. Cruz his fundraisers, donors and staff on board

It would be very difficult to erase our “Lying Ted” image. Dont know if its acceptable to us Trump supporters.

Keep at it Spanky. You can wake up the day after the General election reading stories about President Elect Hillary and you can count yourself as part of the blame for it. Keep flinging it...

More like Peron-Reagan. The pretense that Donald Trump is a traditional Goldwater/Buckley/Reagan Constitutional Conservative can stop now. He's not. He's going to win, we get it. And maybe a get-things-done political chameleon is what's needed to put this country back on track. Time will tell. But there's no reason for anyone to fool themselves or pretend. He's beaten both sides of the Republican divide. The Country Club Quisling GOPe and the TEA Party. Now if he can bring enough of both back on side he'll have a chance to win in November.

Cruz Negotiating With Trump for VP Spot.... Senator Cruz in exchange for his support is wanting to be named to the Supreme Court if an opening occurs while Mr. Trump is president.

There's one open now, assuming the GOP doesnt cave in to Obama (which I admit is pretty unlikely). So which is it, VP or SCOTUS?

Reagan didn’t like Bush. Didn’t want Bush. But took Bush.

THAT is the comparison.

Trump’s achilles heel is with working women and maybe more mainstream suburban voters. Cruz does nothing for that- in fact he is scarier than Trump. \ Cruz brings nothing to the table

Actually, it could be said that Trump is not getting as much of the conservative base as he would like (ever read any Trump v Cruz threads at Free Republic?). Between them they'd have all the conservatives and could possibly do an end run around the Rovians who want a brokered convention. Sure it's a bit like Reagan/Bush or even JFK/LBJ; but those guys won.

I don’t think Cruz is interested in the VP position either.

No. Cruz doesn’t bring the votes needed. Supreme Court would be better, provided he doesn’t get Borked.

Trump already borked him. Can't what to see the great deal maker take on the rest of his allies.

I’d like to see a deal in which Cruz is V.P. with a guarantee of the first available Supreme Court nomination.

Then we all go all-in for the Team.

Trump will never get over the things Cruz has said about him.

Isn't it the other way around? No one can hurl hurtful invectives like The Donald.

You’re Ted Cruz and you agree to be referred to as the biggest liar ever, unlikeable, unelectable, ineligible? All for maybe being elected on the Trump ticket?

That takes theatre to a whole new level.

That scenario would make sense if the Cruz campaign has internal polling that shows it is impossible for Cruz to get the nomination.

Good to know you’re OK with a SCOTUS Chief Justice UNCONSTITUTIONALLY re-writing law ala Dread Pirate John Roberts.

TWICE.

I have doubts too... Trump will give it thought ... and decide either way when the time is right.

Reagan/Bush all over again. I can tell you that I firmly believe Trump will never get over the things Cruz has said about him.

I'm not so sure, Trump and Cruz still agree on one thing, which is that Hillary Rotten Criminal in the White House would be the final nail in the coffin for our Republic.

And unlike Reagan, Trump probably won't have to worry about having an assassination attempt less than 60 days after being sworn in.

IMHO, it would be good timing to force Hillary out in the open. It would also reduce the amount of sniping back and forth between GOP candidates.
