Ohio Gov. John Kasich leads GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump by 5 points in Mr. Kasichs home state, according to a poll released on the eve of the March 15 primary there.
Mr. Kasich had the support of 40 percent of likely GOP primary voters in Ohio in the Monmouth University poll released Monday, followed by Mr. Trump at 35 percent.
Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas was at 15 percent and Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida was at 5 percent.
The Ohio race is tight, but with Rubio floundering in Florida, Kasich could potentially bolster his standing as the establishments alternative to Trump and Cruz with a win here, said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute.
The Monmouth survey, conducted Friday to Sunday, is about in line with other recent polling on the Buckeye State; the latest Real Clear Politics average shows Mr. Kasich with a slight edge over Mr. Trump there.

BOMBSHELL: One GOP Candidate Took $600,000 from George Soros

The $600k also includes Soros’ direct $200,000 donation/bribe to Kasick
Good grief, who did they poll? The liberals?
Kasich’s numbers mean nothing.
I think I’m changing my view on Trump.
I have been a strong supporter of Cruz because I like his ideology, his flat tax idea, etc. For a while I was appalled by Trump’s 5th grade schoolyard attacks on his opponents - it divided our party too harshly.
However, Trump has changed lately - and he has become quite presidential. But foremost, the organized violent attacks on his rallies are a crime against American democracy as I see it, it’s a disgrace.
I can’t accept this anymore, thus from now on Trump has my vote. This doesn’t mean I dislike Cruz. I just feel it’s common sense to help the guy violent elements of our society now tend to attack in an overkill and unjust kind of way.
It’s because Trump is being highly unjustly treated that I know have to support him. Trump picked up one more vote today.
By tomorrow, you be hearing that Kasich will be up by 10 points, and the losers in the GOP will be telling you, a vote for Trump is a vote for HillBill. What a crock!....Go Mr Trump!,,,

I wonder what Kasich promised George Soro’s for his money? Gas funds Moveon.org.
Better to say Ohio is OPEN to republicans and independents - they do not have to declare themselves republicans to vote, can keep independent status
This type of voter largely not being polled nor are the voters who are signing up to vote for the first time and many of them are doing so to vote for Trump
