"Billionaires, tech CEOs and top members of the Republican establishment flew to a private island resort off the coast of Georgia this weekend for the American Enterprise Institute's annual World Forum, according to sources familiar with the secretive gathering.
The main topic at the closed-to-the-press confab? How to stop Republican front-runner Donald Trump.
Apple CEO Tim Cook, Google co-founder Larry Page, Napster creator and Facebook investor Sean Parker, and Tesla Motors and SpaceX honcho Elon Musk all attended. So did Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), political guru Karl Rove, House Speaker Paul Ryan, GOP Sens. Tom Cotton (Ark.), Cory Gardner (Colo.), Tim Scott (S.C.), Rob Portman (Ohio) and Ben Sasse (Neb.), who recently made news by saying he "cannot support Donald Trump."

TENNESSEE FREEPERS:
You’ll notice that Diane Black’s name is on this list. Next time she comes up for election, y’all know what to do!
This is the same sociopathic mindset that had the original Obamacare bill have a provision that every person's monthly insurance bill would be required to have a separate line paying $1 to be given to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood.
The idea in all such cases is to force you to be complicit in evil. That's what they really enjoy!
Tom Cotton of AR? Seriously?
Please let him be a mole.
If Trump wins the nomination, he's going to need Cruz's supporters to win the General Election. If you want their support I'd advise that you stop treating them like they're too stupid to recognize a fallacy of false dilemma.
Personally, I hope every damn one of those who plot go down themselves.
Of course Apple has a vested interest in stopping Trump. He’s the guy saying he’s going to make them shut down international operations. While he hiself owns international properties....
Oh, please...
Nothing in that question is even half as bad as the vile and profane insults slung by Cruzites, and the besmirching of our intelligence.
No, but it is nearby, it’s part of the same coastal island group.
I find it mildly interesting that the article doesn’t name the resort this meeting was at. It’s The Cloister, and it’s on Sea Island, which is adjacent to the much larger Saint Simon’s Island. Access requires use of two bridges, one from the mainland to SSI, then a smaller one from SSI to Sea Island.
There was a G8 summit there a few years ago. One of the pluses was that access for protester control was easily controlled, and additionally the locals aren’t naturally friendly to the protester class.
I truly used to like Tim Scott. Not now!
Sick with this meeting or Tax Code / Trade Legislation?
Again I screed, this is the symptom the Illness is the Tax Code. Call it the Revenge of Steve Forbes, he was so ahead of his freakin' time with his Flat Tax Proposal it wasn't even funny.
Scrap the code, yes revisit NAFTA and GAT etc, we are tired of getting screwed, and as I said before here in this thread, making money is hard, stop trying to tilt the pinball machine in your favor Corp Titans, we don't raise our kids here in fly-over country to be that way....
The question that people need to be asking right now is who benefits from driving a permanent wedge between Trump's and Cruz's supporters.
Nope, Reagan, so second time.
That’s a good question, too. The final beneficiary will be the Democrat party — those on the list with the “D”s after their names. We know that. What we wonder is why there are so many on the list with “R”s after their names. Why are they helping Hillary and/or Bernie?
Hillary will not still be a viable candidate. She is doomed
Diane Black is a proven Conservative...
shes probably for Cruz...
wanna bet ???
If Hillary was going she’d be gone by now...
What’s McConnell or Ryan doing ???
NADA...
"I wonder if its that island where the bankers plotted years ago. Cant think of the name of it. It might come to me later.: - Aliska
You are thinking of Jekyll Island, which along with the location of this American Enterprise Institutes annual World Forum on Sea Island both are described as
It’s becoming clear that shareholder power must now be leveraged.
I remember a decade ago, it was certain to be Rudy Juliani Versus Hillary Clinton.
