Newt Gingrich: Donald Trump Right To Skip CPAC ('the votes are in Kansas, not Washington')

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) on Friday praised Donald Trump for his last-minute decision to skip the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). CPAC organizers announced Friday that the GOP presidential front-runner had dropped out of his commitment to speak at the conference on Saturday morning.

The real estate mogul's campaign issued a statement shortly after saying he would instead be campaigning in Kansas and Florida.

“Because of this, he will not be able to speak at CPAC as he has done for many consecutive years,” the statement read. “Mr. Trump would like to thank Matt Schlapp and all of the executives at CPAC and looks forward to returning to next year, hopefully as President of the United States.” Trump has been heavily criticized by many Republicans, and some speakers at the gathering took the opportunity take shots at the front-runner.

Primary and General Election funding is separate. The FEC regs make it almost impossible to self-fund in the General Election.

I saw some pundip say that Newt would be Trump’s Chief of Staff. And I had to agree that the pundip was right for a change. I would like to see John Bolton as Sec State,

Thanks. I appreciate that. I catch hell from Neo Cons losing their power base to real conservatism. They are thieves that stole my Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan real conservatism in the name of OPEN BORDERS. They laugh about it all the time. They are protestors! “GET THEM OUT OF HERE”! Go Trump.

I have a feeling Newt is advising behind the scenes; this may have been his idea or suggestion.

Isolationism, nationalism and populism are NOT conservative.

Big-government central-planners telling me I cannot buy and sell whatever I want anywhere in the world without being taxed are NOT conservative.

If you want a big government with the power to tax you to make you do what they think is best, you’re NOT conservative.

Shying away from confronting and wiping out Muslim freaks anywhere they exist in the world is NOT conservative.

YOU GO!! You go fight over there. You do it with your money!! I say NUKE UP!!~ Close the damned borders!! get these killer moslems out of here. Saver our children. I don’t buy what you sell any more.

Protecting the border is conservative. I have no argument with that.

Simply keeping the Muslims out won’t stop them from attacking. Americans, our military and American interests exist everywhere in the world. And if they are left to grow in power, they’ll be able to launch nukes and other attacks at our country from outside our borders.

John Bolton is a NEOCON global interventionist. He completely supported the Iraq fiasco. I totally disagree with you. Jeff sessions for State. Bolton is horrible if you look Close. He stands for everything Trump does not.

Tell that to George Washington. Rubbish. Your time is over. You had your run. It’s a loser.

CPAC sucks this year anyway. I wasted the whole day watching. Newt is right Trump needs to get out there and make sure he wraps up all four states tomorrow.

“Nope...Newt will be his closest advisor. Walker will be VP.”

Not a chance in hell! Like a bunch of so-called “conservatives,” Walker flunked the civility test.

Newt would be great VP — if he were younger. He’s older than Mr. T. VP needs to be able to step in and take over.

He is a seasoned diplomat whom I’ve watched over the years. I think he is the best choice for SecState.
