Breaking— CRUZ CAMPAIGN STAFFER SAYS CAMPAIGN IS DONE —
A Ted Cruz campaign staffer today told CNN the campaign is done. “His Campaign is done.”
“The Cruz campaign has to focus on getting basic campaign techniques right,” said a Republican operative who works for the presidential campaign, who asked not to be identified. “I don’t think Cruz can win the nomination at this point. I think his campaign is done.”
Cruz took a huge blow on Saturday after he could not win a single county in South Carolina, a state with an enormous evangelical vote.

I was jumping into an exchange you were having with another Freeper.
My point was also as just an observation. Not attacking anyone; even including a "not meaning to pile on" statement.
I just think that the Cruz professional staff have run a terrible campaign. I don't think Cruz is a bad man.
I'm not going to list my reasons, although I have done that in the past. But, I do have a rationale for my general criticism of the campaign... and it does not include "Cruz is a bad man" or "Cruz is a liar" other than how the campaign has fostered that perception.
Bottom line: Even as a Trump supporter, I think Cruz is a decent man who has been extremely ill-served by his campaign.
That’s about the size of it.
This entire evangelical thing is an invention of the media and the Carl Rove-types. Most people do not vote for someone because he goes to church regularly.
A bunch of crapola.
Solidifying their new hero status here on FR.
Yep.
No way Trump will win the general because like Romney and McCain before him he has alienated too many voters.
I agree. I am definitely not a Trump supporter, but I would have been a Cruz supporter if things had been better. There was something very hostile and weird about his campaign that made me feel it would burn out, so I never really got behind him 100%.
Maybe Cruz will get it together now, maybe not. Anybody know his next campaign director?
True. The polling question was probably something like “do you consider yourself more closely aligned with communists or evangelical Christians?”
And Catholics are not evangelical, fwiw.
The Dem primary is held this week. We will see how the turnout is compared to past Dem primaries. The Reps set a record as they have in Iowa and NH. No doubt there will be a big turnout in NV for the Reps. In NV, the Dems had one third less than in 2008.
A Ted Cruz campaign staffer today told CNN the campaign is done. His Campaign is done.
Yes, I agree. Things started to unravel after the voter violation notice in Iowa, then the Carson out of the race comments. Big loss in NH. Next the fraudulent Rubio ad in SC. Cruz has grown increasingly bitter as time went on. Quite honestly, Glenn Beck hurt him badly! Beck behaved like a lunatic.
His campaign is done.
Better call him and give him a heads up.
28% were black evangelicals that vote dem and voted Trump
That is hilarious.

“Your post is a perfect example of why many find Trump so repelling.”
If you can’t even tolerate strong language, how are you going to deal with what is coming?
I'm afraid there's just no evidence for that.
Ted has a pretty narrow appeal - mostly on the staunchly conservative, Christian, Anglo, right. There's no buzz for him in any other quarters of the voting public.
You can't see that from inside the conservative bubble. You've got to go lurk at places where people of all persuasions comment publicly. In those places, when Ted is mentioned at all, it's usually wisecracks or dismissal. I've seen very few non conservatives post supportive statements about Ted.
On the other hand, I can't tell you how many times I've seen posters claim that they're switching sides to vote for Trump. It's not an avalanche, but it's a steady enough flow to take notice.
That part isn't. It's the Abortion, "Gay Marriage", Gun Control, and stuff like that which is Liberal ideology. It is the choices of who we will get appointed to the Federal bench that will demonstrate what Ideology will be followed.
Trump is a New Yorker. If he follows true to form, he will bring "New York Values" with him. (to borrow a phrase.)
Most of our Republican Backstabbers over the years have been New England Republicans. Not all, but most.
The fact remains. Cruz can't compete against Trump, and is barely treading water against Rubio.
He can't compete against Trump in a Liberal or Open Primary state, but it mostly conservative primaries, he can do just fine. Of course he has a very short time before the "preference cascade" becomes set and irreversible, if it's not too late already.
I can support Trump, but I prefer Cruz. If he loses, i'll be all for Trump.
