Draft-dodger Donald Trump once said that the danger he faced from getting sexually transmitted diseases was his own âpersonal Vietnam.â In a 1997 interview with shock jock Howard Stern, Trump talked about how he had been âluckyâ not to have contracted diseases when he was sleeping around. âIâve been so lucky in terms of that whole world. It is a dangerous world out there. Itâs scary, like Vietnam. Sort of like the Vietnam-era,â Trump said in a video that resurfaced Tuesday on Buzzfeed, âIt is my personal Vietnam. I feel like a great and very brave soldier.â

It doesn’t matter if they have it on video, if it comes from the Daily Beast, it’s not to be trusted! < /rabid trump supporter >

Yeah, and Clinton got PTSD, or most of those letters in some order, anyway.

Whether the war was a justified one or not, comparing himself avoiding getting STD because of numerous sexual conquests to fighting in Vietnam is insulting to the soldiers that actually went to Vietnam. You nailed it. ( Yes I know , bad choice of words.)

Tell me this. Why was Ted Cruz’s dad living and working in Canada during the high of the VN war when little Teddy was born. Was he afraid that if he lived here in the states that he might be drafted? And BTW, I am also a VN era veteran and DT deferment does not bother me in the least.

Clinton was a draft dodger. Thousands of others dodged by fleeing the country or by flat out refusing to serve.
Trump received some deferments as did many others.
Ultimately he received a favorable number in the Draft Lottery.
That was not draft dodging.

It is my understanding (perhaps incorrect) that those who received political asylum from the US did not participate in the draft. They could volunteer if they wanted, but were not compelled to serve.

we shouldnât hold Trump accountable for his draft dodging
Being in college or having a legit 4-F status are not draft dodging.
Hiding in Canada, faking a medical issue, or doing what Bill Clinton did, is draft dodging.

Understand. Katieanna was only trying to be a public service /s. Her addendum to the OP/link:
Political and personal rancor aside: this is something every American should be aware of. Remember who we are and what is right and wrong. Be blessed everyone and make it a lovely day!
There is a difference between highlighting "right and wrong" so everyone can "just know and be aware" and using a a draft-dodger tag to do it.
The OP was posted under News/Activism - clearly not to me. There is a difference between ardent support and irrational agitation - to me, this ploy of a thread is clearly agitation and devious. It is TDS Drive-by trash, IMO
