Grading the South Carolina Debate: Trump, Carson, Rubio, Cruz, Kasich, Bush
Opinion ^ | 14 Feb 16 | Xzins

Posted on 02/14/2016 4:36:44 AM PST by xzins

1. Trump, A+ -- Fought like a champion. Finally, someone with the guts to call out our nation for being 15 years at war, still killing our sons and daughters so politicians can put a feather in their cap, and most of them calling for more war. Bush wants BWIII, Bush War III

2. Carson, A-, quietly but effectively said that he was in it for the people, that he'd been asked to run, and that he wasn't there for any other reason. Outstanding.

3. Rubio, B+, Say what you like, but Rubio wiped the floor with Cruz on the immigration question. The April 2015 video shows Cruz supporting 'talking about what to do with immigrants after the wall is built.' It shows him calling for massive increases in H1B visas.

4. Cruz, C, Clearly the most knowledgeable about the supreme court vacancy. He needs to stop misrepresenting others' positions. Trump called him out on the Planned Parenthood question. Trump has clearly called for defunding PP if they keep doing abortions. If they voluntarily stop doing abortions, then he would support their doing breast exams and pap smears and the like.

5. Kasich, C, Did a Mr. Rogers in the neighborhood act. Hillary Clinton will eat his lunch.

6. Bush, F-, This man is totally lacking in insight. He actually called for another war in the middle east AND he wants to fund Al Qaeda in Syria. He's simply not up to the task.

He said he would, but only if they stop doing abortions.

Thanks, Trump supports Federal Funds for Planned Parenthood if they stop abortions. You seem to be the only supporter to catch that.

Rubio does not have the maturity to own himself.

Not in its entirety as you so aptly paint it, again. Just because a soap box derby car is painted like one from NASCAR, does not make it competitive with the same.

Jeb hides behind his mom to avoid criticism. He is no man.

I agree, entitlements are those things that allow the baby mommas to stay home just because they had another kid, but they can go get their nails done, have extensions put in their hair, buy $100+ jeans, have a new Iphone ETC. Pisses me OFF!

There are no agencies that do PAPS in many areas. PP should have no funding if even one abortion is done, but why would we stop PAPS or manual breast exams to women? How many doctors in your area accept Medicaid or sliding scale? In most places not many.

Again if any abortions are done, no funding as funds do co mingle

As I understand it he says he would fund them if they were NASCAR. It’s a nuanced position, perhaps his most nuanced.

“Worst and most annoying debate audience ever.”......

Obvious plants by Bush AND the RNC. Not giving Trump any audience tickets tells me it was indeed, a setup against him to push Bush, the media and the RNC chosen one.

Did anyone notice that strange way Cruz was standing at the beginning of the debate, when they were lined up in front of the lecterns? He had his legs widely separated, and his arms were being held out away from his waist. Of course, he was trying to take up more space, to make himself look larger. he didn’t look larger, just ridiculous. Sort of like Bush standing on his tiptoes.

I have read that Cruz goes in for the psychological (mind control) angle in his campaign.

You’re as off the truth as Cruz. Trump’s position on PP has been clear except for those with a penchant for discounting truth.

They get defunded for doing abortions.

If they stop doing abortions, then they do breast exams and pap smears.

What don’t you understand about that?

“He needs to stop misrepresenting others’ positions. “

The lies Cruz told were ridiculous!

He said Trump would support liberal judges, with no basis. Trump has already said - beforehand Scalia passed away- that he would appoint justices like Thomas and Scalia. PLUS, he gave names right then of 2 conservative judges he would consider! He was the only one to name names!

You can think Social Security is your own money, but this is lie of Hucksters. Sure FDR sold it this way, but the law and case law state otherwise. You pay a tax! Makes it property of the government. Lies if big government and candidates who perpetuate it.

I’m really tired of seeing our troops killed for these nitwits who have no idea what they are doing. They want to fund Al Qaeda in Syria, a legitimate enemy according to the Congress resolution of Sep 19(?) 2001.

Can you imagine? Fund our enemy that brought down the towers over a war they’ve ineffectively waged against that very enemy.

They are NUTS!

You are lying like Cruz. Trump didn’t defend PP last night at all. Cruz gets people to lie as much as he does - there’s something very creepy about that.

I’m sure that last night’s debate was intended to be Trump’s funeral pyre. I was amazed at the stacked audience and the complete lack of any effort to hide the fact that this, like all the other debates, was about destroying and discrediting Trump.

When Trump called out the Bushes, I thought maybe they had achieved their objective. For a moment, I was taken aback. I always like W and respected HW. I think they’re both nice men as far as you can say that about a politician. But I had to admit that W did things, especially in his last term that weren’t in the interest of this nation to protect his legacy and history’s view of him. And, HW’s lie to us is famous, no need to repeat it.

After the debate was over, I had to admit that my perception’s had been changed. My admiration for Trump as a fighter for Americans increased. But my perceptions of the Bushes was forever changed. That they could be so confident that this kind of tactics would sway the American people disgusts me and opened my eyes to just how arrogant they really are. Thank the heavens that they finally have met their match in a rude, in your face, no hold barred fighter. Even if Trump doesn’t win, I’ll always respect the man for ripping up so many facades and masks from people that needed it.

I hope we can all get behind Mr. Trump in his campaign. Even he can’t do anything without support.

First the issue is entitlements not welfare. Entitlements are where Americans PAID for it already and are owed it by agreement. Whats wrong with Americans getting what they paid for?

Why was Trump focused on Bush? Hasn’t Obama been President for the last 7+ years?

We seem to be back to Bush’s fault politics.

There are no agencies that do PAPS in many areas.

If Planned Parenthood weren't there, maybe a real charity would be willing to have money thrown at them for the same purpose.
