I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to the Scalia family after the passing of Justice Scalia. Justice Scalia was a remarkable person and a brilliant Supreme Court Justice, one of the best of all time. His career was defined by his reverence for the Constitution and his legacy of protecting Americans' most cherished freedoms. He was a Justice who did not believe in legislating from the bench and he is a person whom I held in the highest regard and will always greatly respect his intelligence and conviction to uphold the Constitution of our country. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time.

The weasel McConnell uses the word “should not take place . . .” when he should have said “will not take place.”
This is good and Trump should wait til next week and then speak strongly that no nominations should be brought forward til after the election and I fully expect he will do that.
Agreed. Don’t worry, if Trump wins the nomination I will vote for him, and I think he loves this country, but for right now I’m a Cruz supporter. Actually, if I thought he had a better chance of beating Hillary I’d maybe change my mind, even though I don’t agree with him on some things, but so far I don’t see it.
I would drive to DC to protest that, and camp on the mall if necessary...

Good Lord, people can have disagreements even with their friends. It doesn’t mean you don’t respect one another. You people are despicable human beings.

As tempting as it is to speculate, now is not the time. This vacancy will work out in time, and frankly what is said on internet discussion groups isn’t goint to make much difference. Let’s just note the passing of a great man who we all admired and keep his family in our thoughts and prayers.

Maybe everyone on here should read Cruz’s statement as well as Trump’s. One was boilerplate, polite, short, small town newspaper obit. Cruz was personal, sincere, from the heart.
