Lawrence Sellin, Ph.D. a retired colonel with 29 years of experience in the US Army Reserve, argues that Senator Ted Cruz entered the United States illegally as a child in 1974. His parents failed to file a CRBA form which is required by US law. Tedâs parents did not fill out the required form until 1986.

I could be a wonderful driver but until I get that piece of plastic, the driverâs license, Iâm not a legal driver. Cruz was not officially American until he was 17, and this is sad news. The kid probably thought he was. Itâs not his fault.

I totally agree that THE LATE FILING IS NOT TED’S FAULT.
My concern with Ted, is that he could have been more forthcoming and he claimed he did not know he had Canadian citizenship until 2013.
You can call it a lying by omission, that’s the thing bugging me here, not the lax attitude of his parents...he cannot control that.
What you're saying is that Winston Churchill could have been POTUS, or even now Queen Noor's son's are eligible.
Pretty sure that is not what the Founder's had in mind with NBC,
“Ted is a Snow Back”. That is funny...never head a term used for the Canadians who come in illegally.
He can fine himself when he is president and then issue himself a work permit.
Clintonian parsing, as it were....
I never had a Birth Certificate until I was 62. Does that mean I wasn't officially born until then?
I must be profound and intellectual sounding just like Morgan Freeman. My very own quote hoax!
You can have continuous residence and still vacation outside the country.
When you travel, you don’t give up your residency, do you?
Sorry, Grampa. :)
Because she filed when he was 16 his Amrican mother got his CBRA, and if she had neglected to do so (maybe only prompted because he was taking a school trip abroad and needed a U.S. Passport) at 18 he would have no longer been eligible? Wow.
ZOT.
We’re talking about years ago, not recently. I went into Canada from Vermont to Montreal and returned through New Brunswick into Maine in the 70’s without any papers, passport or anything other than my DL. I had my three children with me. No questions.
Go Trump. We don’t need a guy who was born in Canada regardless of what the rules say. We never had a foreign born president and we don’t need one now. Who next someone born in Iran? North Korea? Russia? No thanks. We will keep our President American Born.
Ouch, that would be a painful birth! Well, in your case, if you were born in Canada to an American mom, and you never got your consular birth abroad docs until 62, you probably skipped along never having to prove your citizenship. Maybe you ran your own business, never traveled abroad, and I don’t know what you did for a SS number.
We need a big tub of it.
“Wait?!?!?! We can deport him? LOL!”
Talk about making American great.....getting rid of Cruz would make America great by 99 percent just on that one act alone. Please let this happen somehow.
Funny how stuff like this “comes out” during the election year and not right after the declaration of candidacy.
Well there is a CBRA coz’ evidently he got it in 1986 to get a U.S. passport so he could travel abroad with his school group when he must have been 16-ish. Cruz is likely not making it available because he wants it to appear he got it at birth. I have read you can apply for the document at any time, but according to a Freeper above, only until you reach age 18, so if Cruz had not been going on that overseas trip, and two further years had passed, he would have been unable to get his citizenship without filing for naturalization. Boggles the mind.
