Conservative authors are banding together to publish a manifesto Friday denouncing the ideas of Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump.
Leading conservatives including Erick Erickson, William Kristol and Yuval Levin have written essays for a special issue of National Review to be published Friday, The New York Times reports.
"Donald Trump is a menace to American conservatism who would take the work of generations and trample it underfoot on behalf of a populism as heedless and crude as The Donald himself," reads an editorial accompanying the essays in the issue, according to the newspaper.
The issue will include essays from 22 prominent conservative voices, according to CNN.

Change that to “leading RINO’s”.
Can’t wait for McLame and Romney to endorse him too...!!
I definitely agree with them. Trump is not now, never has been and never will be a conservative. I find him completely repulsive, somebody whose only value is “does it work for me,” and a wealthy political dilettante who can pay his own way and regards the whole thing as a game.
But the question these thinkers have to ask themselves is why a fruitloop like this is popular with people who supposedly identify as conservatives.
Leaving aside the fact that about 1/3 of the people who like Trump are Dems voting in open primary states, I think many of the others don’t know or care about conservatism. Small government? What’s that?
In other words, it’s not a conservative or even rational vote. People just know they’re unhappy and Trump, entertainer that he is, tapped into that. So they honestly don’t care about his program, conservatism or even lack thereof.
Yes, he has two “erics” but this redstate one is the one from Georgia.

With “conservatives” like that, Trump’s numbers will just keep going up!
I noticed on Tiwtter that the Trump Derangement Syndrome is indistinguishable between these mainline GOPe careerist hacks and straight up Democrats. Their tweets look exactly the same. You have to look at profiles to figure out who is a “Dem” and who is “GOP”. It’s that bad.
So, who is he for? Are any of these clows for a candidate? Or is it all negative?
We do seem to be in a new era of negative unendorsements. Or whatever you want to call it. Bizarre.
How sweet is it watching the Mushroom Cloud rising over the District of Corruption. All of these “conservatives” will be even less relevant after he is elected.
Pray America wakes
Eric Erickson, LOL!! For those who are undecided, this should nudge them into the Trump camp.
The left & right political establishment, MSM, social media & blogs all attacking Trump should convince voters that he’s the right choice
Great point, Donna. Pushing back against Trump, only makes people who might support him—dig in, because people won’t be manipulated by liberal “conservative” crybabies who don’t support primary causes like the border situation.
Canât wait for McLame and Romney to endorse him too...!!
me neither!!!
You know that Salem Media bought Redstate, and became Erickson’s boss - then pulled the plug on his employment because it conflicted with the Cox ownership of his radio show. (Cox being a competitor to Salem Media).
Oh, and Salem Media published Trump’s last book.
So it’s going to be interesting to see how things go with SM, and whether their markets keep pushing against Trump.
Well, the first three names disqualify them.
Uh...what? If these are conservative icons, Yeb's a front-runner.
Trump and Cruz must be getting a giggle out of what NR has become. They have the right enemies. That's not a recommendation for either of them, but it is an indication of just how sour it's gone for the establishment.
Probably Jeb.
I agree. I’m sick of hearing the word “conservative” after having it shoved down my throat the past few weeks.
I’m watching Fox and Megyn Kelly has some of these dopes who penned these articles. They are completely unhinged. You KNOW Trump is living in their heads rent free. It was almost as if they were pleading w the audience to not vote for him!!
Neither are most of the so-called writers at NRO. They are a disgusting lot. They’d prefer America be overrun with illegals and Islamic whackos than to ally with the one guy who has a chance to stop them, all in the name of “ideological purity.”
Looking back, I can’t believe we waited so long to draw the line.
Erickson PULLED THE INVITATION to his annual RED STATE forum on ONE CANDIDATE. Considering we know who Erickson is, an establishment hack, guess who had his invitation rescinded? Trump, of course.
I banned Erick Erickson and Red State from my Website, RSS Feeds and Browser after he became a tool for the GOPe.
