The National Rifle Association, the country's most influential gun-rights supporter, is challenging President Obama's new plan to use his presidential power to tighten firearms laws, calling it a "political stunt" that fails to increase public safety.
President Obama said this weekend that he'll meet Monday with Attorney General Loretta Lynch to discuss his "optionsâ toward curbing gun violence, after ordering his White House team several months ago to identify "new actions" that he can take.
The president also said that he's taking action because Congress has failed to act. He is expected to use so-called executive orders to tighten federal laws -- with a focus on small-scale firearms sellers and background checks for gun buyers, according to Politico.
"President Obama failed to pass his anti-gun agenda though Congress because the majority of Americans oppose more gun-control," NRA spokeswoman Jennifer Baker said in response late Saturday. "Now he is doing what he always does when he doesn't get his way, which is defy the will of the people and issue an executive order."

I will not comply.
Mr. Obama....No.
Obama represents the will of marxists, socialists, fascists, liberals, leftists, Democrats, peaceniks, the fifth-column media, dupes and ISIS. The support of these entities embolden him to exercise dictatorial moves to further their common agenda...the destruction of everything that made this country great.
Thus, the misuse of "executive power" will become Obama's trademark during the one long year remaining in his tenure.
God help us, because the two Peoples' Houses won't.
(except, being the cowards they are, they may continue to bow to the power of the NRA and other groups and find a way to circumvent any executive orders....maybe).

Well, it makes no difference to me. All of my guns were lost in a boating accident.
Are you serious? You think Harry Reid wasn’t manipulating his votes? You think Harry is a defender of the 2A?
And you are going to DEFEND him?
Perhaps you see why I have a very negative view. Because it reflects the reality of the situation.
—thanks for a factal post—and the NRA did not support Reid in has last election, when he had began to be a turncoat-—
—aargh—”factal’ should be “factual”—
Another fact is that the NRC could long have made the case against ‘turncoats’
that each and every attempt to restrict 2A by an elected official was violation of civil rights under color of authority. Have they? No. Have they supported pols that are involved with people that restrict the 2A? Yes.
That’s factual as well.
Here is another fact. They endorsed a gun grabber. A real one that legislated as Gov against the 2A and gun owners that send their pennies to the NRA.
Meanwhile, government gunthugs will be issued belt-fed fully automatic Glocks...
My turn for the typo
NR “A”
Good post, but, as I recall, the NRA initially endorsed Dingy Harry but received so much grief from members threatening to drop their NRA membership that the NRA withdrew their endorsement, and made no commitment to either Dingy or his opponent.
Its like being surrounded by statler and waldorf without the humor.

Whoâs doing a better job defending gun owners?
-—And you are going to DEFEND him?
Iâm saying that the NRA measures politicians on one issue and not on party affiliation. Would they be more effective if they just endorsed Republicans?
The NRA collects millions of dollars a year. They employ people whose sole job is to research the people they endorse.
It flies in the face of reason to believe that these people are unaware of Reid’s empty promises and hard left positions. Does it make the remotest bit of sense to endorse a guy that throws you a bone while he is fully on board with Bloomberg, Feinstein, the Beady Bunch and every other leftist anti gun group on the planer, helping them get funding to restrict the 2A at every level including local, where Harry’s show vote doesn’t count?
There is no way in hell the NRA can justify backing any democrat and a lot of GOP either and hold true to their ‘single issue’. Because it’s not a simple yes or no thing. And thats where their researchers come in and are for.
Now you and I, recreationally, cruise FR daily. We read, at our leisure, all the crap Reid and ANY other gun grabber pull and are versed in it.
Recreationally. No one pays us. It ain’t our yob, mang. But we are very much informed and aware. So what is the excuse of a multimillion dollar group with paid staff to be uninformed? There ain’t one. When they back a gun grabber like Reid, they do it because they WANT guns grabbed. They just want it a little at a time.
How else can anyone explain their pressure relief excuses? For decades now, people made excuses that the GOP was not leftist. And in the past several years, they promised the exact opposite of that they delivered. To Obama’s benefit.
Thats the US Congress. Now I don’t think it’s a stretch for any lesser group unbound by voters, to sell out for a lot less than a congressman or Senator.
“No American will obey anything a dictator âorders.â
Oh yeah, many will: de-eucated and groomed and trained and armed; ready to be on the winning side, and following orders.
A lot of leo’s like me will be let go or worse....
Some guys need to feed their kids.
Some guys love a challenge.
Some just think that’s the way things work.
Don’t get yer hopes up....like when we were SURE Bill Clinton would be tossed out of office.
Gee, dude... who wants to know?
Are you implying he married his hand?
Yap, yap, yap. He’s not going to do anything.
âShall not be infringedâ should be tattooed on Obamaâs forehead.
Won’t work. Nothing short of a steel die and a sledge hammer will make an impression on that skull. (remember the last scene of the credits on “Dragnet”?)
