Rush is correct on this. I wish Trump would be a little more careful with this. Things are moving in a good direction now for true conservatives (and in a bad direction for the GOPe & ‘RATS) & I wouldn’t want to see that derailed.

The Iowa polls for the last week or so indicate one very clear thing.
Ted Cruz will win Iowa. Big Time.
Now whether or not that changes the game on a nationwide basis remains to be seen.

Rush goofed today, only really getting the Cruz side of things but he responded well in the second hour.
I think this thing has now blown over.
We shall see tomorrow on the CNN debate.

Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are working TOGETHER to eliminate the combined 25 percent that Ben Carson and Marco Rubio have ... to make sure that Yeb! doesn’t get it ...

..hopefully the next debate will put to rest any fears that these two men can be drawn into a cage match by the MSM and some activists.
The quotes of the last couple of days are a concern. Perhaps we are seeing the chasm between ideology and pragmatism. I still support conservative ideas first--hence my support of Cruz...

I have been listening to Rush for over twenty years, but he jumped the shark today. Trumps appeal goes beyond Conservative or Liberal. It crosses party lines and is broad. Put simply, Trump can win. Cruz cannot.

Meh...
Polls were under-reporting Cruz’ support previously, just as they ignored Carson’s support in Iowa. When it fit their narrative, the MSM then over-hyped Carson and now the same thing with Cruz.
Cruz is popular in Iowa and has a strong grass roots effort. I’d say he is a *slight* favorite, only because other choices are too unpredictable based on past history.

Even the polls that show Trump up (one by 13) or tied in Iowa, or just the one poll that show Cruz up by 10? Which one indicates one very clear thing?

BS, Cruz is a flash in the pan the same way Carly and Carson were. In a week or two it will be Rubio.
To: AdaGray
I agree that Trump is the winner, and he's uncanny in how he can gauge the zeitgeist blowing through the country. I'd love to see Cruz as a vice presidential candidate, or Secretary of State, or Chief Justice, but as brilliant as he is, I don't see him able to pull together the disparate groups that would be needed to make the changes this country needs. I admire his courage in the Senate, but I'm thinking there is something about his personality that just rubs a lot of them the wrong way, besides his willingness to leave the pack. Having said that, of course if he is the nominee, I will back him all the way.
To: JoSixChip
Nope he has been laying the groundwork for this for a long time.
Cruz is playing chess and all the others are playing checkers.
To: JoSixChip
I am going to respectfully disagree.
Carly and Carson flashed because they were “new” and their flaws unknown.
Cruz is a very known quantity, very much a conservative, and has been the favorite of FreeRepublic long before Trump considered running.
So, it’s a very different dynamic.
As I’ve said frequently, it’s so refreshing to have a populist like Trump and a solid conservative like Cruz in the lead. For the last 8 years, it’s been a choice between terrible fake conservatives like Gov. Huckleberry and RINO McCain.
With Trump or Cruz, we actually have a shot as something good.

This is the theory by this guy at TheHill.com. He says, "Which is why, at this point in the campaign, we should prioritize 'likely GOP voter' polls in early primary states over national and 'total registered GOP voters' polls -- like the Monmouth University poll out last week taken of Iowa GOP voters who have voted in previous caucuses, which shows Cruz winning at 24% (Trump is at 19%). Or, Sunday's Des Moines Register poll of likely Republican caucus-goers, which has Cruz at 31% and Trump 10 percentage points behind."
