Wait, Maybe Trump Didn't Actually Call for Mandatory Registration of Muslims
Slate ^ | November 20, 2015 | Josh Voorhees

... I spent much of Friday afternoon rewatching that clip as though it was the Zapruder film and--I can't believe I'm about to say this--I think Trump's technically right: He doesn't explicitly advocate for creating the database. Yes, he seems to go along with the general idea after the reporter asks him about it--but he also doesn't explicitly endorse it either. The reporter is asking about Muslims in America, but Trump appears unable to imagine that group includes U.S. citizens, which is probably why he immediately starts talking about the wall--a telling blind spot for a man campaigning on nativist anger and fear ...

Don't register Muslims — deport Imams, close all mosques, and deport all Muslims unless they convert to Christianity. Those so converted are then watched in case they lied about converting.

“She can’t get over the fact he beat her on her gotcha question.”

The only thing I remember from that was ‘Only Rosie O’Donnell ‘. Trump was hilarious. So yes, her question was a moot point after that.

But tonight, Trump’s wife answered it well - she said he talks that way about everyone but only the statements concerning women get noticed.

Josh Voorhees, the Leftist clown from Slate, actually defends Trump. No, he's not a fan of Trump, or of our side. He calls Trump nearly the full pantheon of Leftist epithets.

Not hardly a defense - more like a "he's a moron, but I'll pretend to be polite type call with the:

... but Trump appears unable to imagine that group includes U.S. citizens, which is probably why he immediately starts talking about the wall--a telling blind spot for a man campaigning on nativist anger and fear ...

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader

PS - If you are one of those who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....

GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!

Donate to FR

Donate to Cruz

I'm surprised all refugees aren't in a data base. Otherwise, you get fake refugees such as the Tsarnov clan who are safe enough to travel back to their homelands, but still live in the US. What's that all about?

A database of refugees would be good for the real refugees and good for the US, for so many reasons.

Why would anyone expect a fair shot from Megyn who hates him and all he stands for. She will not have a kind word even if he’s elected President. I saw the “interview”—Trump was talking about a wall—not forcing Islamic people to wear Yellow stars. Left trying to get Liberal Jews to vote for ISIS Loving, Israel hating Hillary. Its all Politics.

wait til a Paris Style Attack hits someplace in the USA—when we see women and children in a Mall or Theater dead, the floor covered in blood—Then, maybe, people might see some value in a regester of Moslims. sad, that this would need to happen before America wakes out of her Progressive fantasy world.

No, not Roger Stone. The name of the nice old geezer is Jeffrey Lord. He's a regular panelist on CNN when the network wants to have a Trump-bashing session...which is frequently.

Lord has the right credentials, he was an aide to President Reagan, is a prolific and brainy writer of books and contributions to American Spectator. etc.

But he's dull as dishwater as an unofficial Trump spokesman, has zero animation, and though his words are spot-on in defending and explaining Donald, his delivery and attention-getting on behalf of the Cause is nil and sleep-inducing.

Your point is that Fox is still better than other networks, perhaps true. On this topic, Rush was best by far, spending about one hour on topic and was on the air before Fox with the truth about this media sideshow.

After Rush explained in detail, Fox began to allow that there might be some wiggle room for Trump.

I still contend that Trump (with management consent) is doing what they can for establishment GOP and in essence trying to scuttle Trump. Not totally sure why this move, it seems to me to be self defeating — since I do not believe this effort will change the outcome — and then I believe Fox will wish they had been nicer to the Donald.

I’m not a fan of Trump. I’m for Cruz.

But I do believe in fairness, and I wanted to see if Trump was being quoted accurately.

So I found an article that had both the clip and the transcript of the exchange between the reporter and Trump, so that we could judge for ourselves.

I think the reporter set Trump up. I think Trump’s answer might have been a bit ambiguous.

I doubt that Trump wants a database for ALL Muslims.

Transcript from article:
Reporter: Should there be database that tracks the Muslims that are in this country?
Trump:
There should be a lot of systems, beyond database. We should have a lot of systems and today you can do it. But right now we have to have a border, we have to have strength, we have to have a wall, and we cannot let what's happening to this country happen any longer.
Reporter: But that's something your White House would like to implement?
Trump:
Oh, I would certainly implement that. Absolutely.
Reporter: What do you think the effect of that would be, how would it work?
Trump:
It would stop people from coming in illegally.
Reporter: Would they have to legally be in this database?
Trump:
They have to be--, they have to be--, the key is people can come to this country but they have to be here legally.

From the article:

The reporter is asking about the database, but Trump is talking about his beloved wall, as his very next answer makes clear.
Reporter: What do you think the effect of that would be, how would it work?
Trump:
It would stop people from coming in illegally.

Okay .. that sounds more like the Cruz I have read so much about. That means that I try to read everything he talks about .. partly because it’s so very close to what I believe.

And .. though I did hear the actual audio of what Trump said, I did not get to hear the actual audio of what Cruz said.

I should have been surprised that the left would try to make an issue of anything Cruz says.

Thanks for your comments; I really appreciate it.

It seems to me that if he wanted it, he would have stated so in clear uncertain terms.

Compare this nutella sandwich with his comments on illegal immigration, sending them back and the wall.

There’s no meat here.

I appreciate your comments and realize you’re trying to be even handed about it. Thank you.

I have on FOX while I work which is around 12 hours a day. I don’t believe they are trying to scuttle Trump at all. I get the impression that they are trying to be fair to the candidates. I do know pretty much who the pundits are favoring due to their slant on things, only a few of which are pro-GOP-E. Quite a few are pro-Trump. I honestly cannot understand where you get the idea that the network is trying to steer the election to the GOP-E.
