A new poll of 2,000 citizens shows that Donald Trump's immigration stance has more support among Hispanic Americans than Gov. Mitt Romney won in 2012, even after the pollsters reminded respondents of Trump's most controversial statements on immigration.
Twenty-eight percent of Hispanic Americans agreed with Trump's June statement that "When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're sending people that have lots of problems. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists."
In 2012, Romney won 27 percent of the Hispanic-American vote.
Twelve percent of Hispanic-Americans said they were not sure what to say about Trump's comment, and only 61 percent opposed it, despite heated criticism of Trump by Spanish-language media.
The new poll also showed that 35 percent of moderates and 38 percent of independents somewhat or strongly backed Trump's harshly-phrased, much-criticized statement. Twenty-five percent of moderates and 26 percent of independents disagreed strongly.
Among African-Americans, 24 percent agreed with Trump's statement- that's four times the 6 percent won by Romney in 2012 - while 28 percent of African-Americans disagreed strongly.

These sensitive lispy GOPe types will never understand that.
I figured that Trump will get 25-30% of the hispanic vote.
Si Se PUEDE!!
Machismo is a part of Hispanic culture and Donald fits right in...plus those who came here through legal means or were born here understand low skill setted immigrants can damage what they have worked hard for

My wife, a legal immigrant from Mexico (and a citizen for about 10 years), was really ticked off at Trump for that statement. However, in the fullness of time, she has become pro-Trump. She even enjoys bothering her Mexican friends (many of whom are also citizens) about it (”You’re not for Trump? What’s wrong with you, don’t you care about the country you’ve chosen? Are you stupid?”).
She understands, as someone who has gone through the immigration process, that it is HORRIBLY unfair to let millions of people jump the line and, simultaneously, flout the law, evade taxes, get free medical care, etc. She also understands that native-born people with low skill levels are the ones hurt worst - and I never stop reinforcing this every time there’s another riot by blacks (”if they had jobs, they’d be working and not rioting - but now they have nothing to do but be hopeless and frustrated, and on welfare and foodstamps”).
Trump predicted that he’d get a majority of the Hispanic vote - and I believe that he is right. He’ll also get a bunch of the black vote, and the union vote. I’m beginning to believe that we have a serious landslide coming, and Shrillary Cankles is not going to be the beneficiary.
We don’t have a problem with legal immigrants, those who follow the laws. It’s the others that give them a bad name....................
Many Hispanics that are here legally resent the fact that others are allowed to enter illegally. It's just not fair to those that followed the rules.
With the blacks, still some animosity from 2008 towards Hildebeast for her tactics against Obama in that election. Also, Trump has genuine appeal.
To be fair, “support” for a comment does not equate with a vote for the person who made the comment.
Trump likes all LEGAL Hispanics.
Trump wants to deport only Illegals and those are NOT all Hispanics. Many East Europeans, Russians, Chinese, Indians, etc. are in that category of Illegals.
“Harshly phrased”? What’s harshly phrased about Trump’s comment? Do rapists and drug dealers deserve sensitivity? Hispanics should condemn them just as much as everybody else. Unless they think their race, and their race alone, should be allowed to get away with such crimes?
My Mrs. is close (Italian, not Latino) in that her temper goes off now and then, but making up is more than worth it. We were blessed with three daughters-- two of them are just gorgeous, one looks like a supermodel. Don't get me started on the grandkids.
But that can’t be! Does Karl Rove know?
This poll supports the other polls showing Trump getting good Hispanic support. Trump is also getting good Black support.
My prediction: Trump exceeds W Bush Hispanic support in 2000 and 2004.
Why is nobody “trumpeting” the idea of using E-Verify for employment and benefits?
Without a job or freebees those here illegally would SELF-DEPORT!!!!!
Nationwide e-verify. This simple measure will protect jobs for unemployed Americans.
