ABC NEWS Updated 15 mins ago Louisiana State Police charged two law enforcement officers in the shooting death of a 6-year-old boy and the wounding of his father.
Norris Greenhouse Jr., 23, and Derrick Stafford, 32, were charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder in the shooting in the city of Marksville on Tuesday, Col. Mike Edmonson said during a news conference late Friday. Jeremy Mardis was killed and his father, Christopher Few, was left in critical condition.
The shooting happened when the two city marshals allegedly opened fire on a vehicle following a pursuit, said Edmonson.

Glad to hear this. I was outraged when I read they recklessly murdered a child in an effort to arrest his dad.
18 rounds fired. I wouldn’t call that reckless. It was likely a hit.
The officers are 23-year-old Norris Greenhouse Jr., a reserve officer, and 32-year-old Lt. Derrick Stafford.
Colonel Mike Edmonson called the body camera footage of the incident, which has not been described in detail or released, âthe most disturbing thing Iâve seen, and I will leave it at that.â
Added to the list of statements walked back from the original explanation is this: Edmonson said he was aware of no warrant being served to Few by the marshals, according to a report by The Guardian. Chris Few, Mardisâs father and the driver of the car, was reportedly not being served a warrant, he was apparently not backing his car into police, and he was definitely not armed. At least 18 shots were fired into the driver side of his car.

The indictment alleged that he had raped two different victims, one in September 2004 and the other in February 2011. But, in May 2012, the case was dismissed without prejudice, which meant that the charges could be brought again.
Marksville officers wear body cameras, and Edmonson said the video investigators viewed was from a body camera.

The result of lowering standards for the police across the country. We have hired cops that are there for the power only.
As usual I’ll withhold judgement until I have sufficient information.
That said it sounds bad, but it was claimed Michael Brown had his hands up at the beginning too...I was one of the few advising people to wait to make a decision until we had more info.
Same here. Even though it sounds bad on the surface, let’s not convict these guys before we know the details.
Stafford and Greenhouse are both named in a federal lawsuit filed against the Marksville police (you can read the lawsuit above). A man named Ian Fridge said he was tackled by officers and hit with a stun gun while he was at a Fourth of July event in Marksville.
Fridge, an open carry advocate, says in the lawsuit he was carrying a gun openly when the officers grabbed him from behind. Fridge said the officers took his cell phone and deleted the video he took of the incident. The case, filed in late July, is still pending.
Stafford Was Charged With Aggravated Rape in 2011
Stafford was indicted on two counts of aggravated rape in 2011, while he was a Marksville police officer, according to the archives of the Alexandria Town Talk. The outcome of the case was not immediately available Friday night.
Then 28, Stafford, of Alexandria, was indicted by a Rapides Parish jury, the Town Talk reported at the time.
The kid is as white as can be so I assume his father is too.
âHe was always smiling always happy. He was diagnosed with autism when he was 2. He loved everyone he met and they loved him,â his grandmother, Samantha Few, said. âAs far as what caused his death, the only thing I have been told is he died from gun shot wounds. He didnât deserve what happened. He wouldnât hurt a fly.â
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Police said Jeremy was buckled into the front seat of his fatherâs vehicle, which is where he died.
One more reason to stay away from MLK Jr Blvd in any town.
I know I would pull over immediately in ANY contingency to protect a son, or stepson in this particular case.
I don't see a single comment on this thread questioning the driver's judgement.
My comment is predicated on the sketchy information provided, of course....and my results may vary.

Few's fiancee Megan Dixon told the Guardian that earlier in the evening she had argued with him at TJ's pool hall and she left.
Few went to pick up his son who had been at a relative's house.
A short while later, Few pulled up next to Dixon at a stop light and asked her to come home with him.
She said she declined because she was 'stubborn.'
She said as she pulled away she saw two marshals' cars approaching from behind with their lights flashing.
Megan said she saw Few was pointing at his son's head, showing that he was in the car and he wasn't sure what to do.
She said her fiance was not comfortable because he had previously had a personal conflict with one of the marshals. She did not identify which marshal.
lol. I guess you didn’t see the father and son. What a weird thing to say with this story particularly.
