Seventeen years ago, Ben Carson delivered a commencement address at Andrews University that featured a very unusual theory: Maybe Joseph built the pyramids to store grain.
The speech itself, dug up by the ever-enterprising Andrew Kaczynski of BuzzFeed, was framed around Carson's trademark inspirational stories. "I thought that I would talk about my own personal philosophy for success in life," he told the graduating class. "Think big.?
He used Joseph to illustrate the point. "Here was a man who was basically able to save the entire world with his big thinking," he mused. Joseph, in the biblical narrative, oversees the accumulation of grain reserves in Egypt sufficient to last through seven years of brutal famine. But then Carson seemed to go off-script, extemporizing to make the point that Joseph's faith and big thinking had enabled him to do remarkable things:
My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain. Now all the archeologists think that they were made for the pharaohs' graves. But, you know, it would have to be something awfully big if you stop and think about it. And I don't think it'd just disappear over the course of time to store that much grain.
And when you look at the way that the pyramids are made, with many chambers that are hermetically sealed, they'd have to be that way for a reason. And various scientists have said, "Well, you know there were alien beings that came down and they have special knowledge and that's how they were" -you know, it doesn't require an alien being when God is with you.
It's hard to know what to make of any of this. Who, other than Erich Anton Paul von Daniken, are the "various scientists" who believe that aliens built the pyramids?

Doctors, as a whole, are generally ignorant of much outside of their profession, having spent the entire first third of their lives trying to become doctors.......................
Thank God for The Donald, otherwise this wingnut would be leading the polls.
Who was the Dem candidate who said he saw UFOs years ago? Kucinich? Same boat.
lol. Great pic!
no one is listening to me!
the way he talks, his past, his demeanor, there is something mentally wrong with the guy.
It should be obvious to anyone who’s had experience with mental illness in family or friends, and I have.

The step pyramid, built by Joseph was used for the storage of grain.
Would want your off the cuff remarks you made 17 years ago made the measure of your knowledge or character for a job you are applying for today? Let’s give Ben a break.
Seventeen years ago”
Notice how this was timed to coincide with Carson’s rise in the polls, and in the consciousness of the American public. It’s all about destroying him, and nothing else.
This is what they do. They go back years ago to get something on anyone who is a threat to their established power. But for their fellow democrats, they deliberately ignore proven facts that would embarrass their candidates.
1. I am certain that none of us would want that yardstick used against us. I'm sure we've all said all sorts of stuff 17 years back;
2. This applies for any candidate one supports as well. For example, I'm sure Trump said things 17 years back that he'd not want dredged up today (I'd bet on that), Rubio was probably in grade-school back then, and Hillary was brewing some witches brew to try and stop Bill from having late night sessions with semi-attractive skirts.
” having spent the entire first third of their lives trying to become doctors”
So a 30 year old doctor only went to school until the 5th grade?
So you don’t find it strange that Carson stood by those strange comments again today?
LOL!, I’m talking about late to middle-aged docs. That’s the group I’m in, and I know some docs that can’t even put oil in their car.....................
I am more inclined to believe the alien angle than the good doctor’s position. They would have antigravity and stuff, so it’s at least feasible.
I heard the video where Carson was stating this on the radio. He says it is his opinion. Everyone has one on everything. Because he doesn’t follow the standard line doesn’t make him crazy, just makes him have an opinion. I think the racist GOPE and their good leftist friends across the aisle are reaching on this. And for the record I am not on the Carson team, I am just observing another attempted high tech lynching by the left of both parties.
Not saying it was aliens but it was aliens. lol
Shades of the Nation of Islam......
FReepers if you know someone that supports Carson please have them take a close look at this guy...REAL close.
What Carson said was that the Pyramids were granaries, not tombs. That’s what people are talking about.
True, but they didn’t attack Romney over the Mormon Belief System. But they seem to find Carson an easy target..........................
