Two debates tonight on CNBC live from the Coors Event Center at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
The 'kids table' started just after 6 p.m. EDT with Sen. Lindsey Graham (SC), Gov. Bobby Jindal (LA), former Gov. George Pataki (NY), and former Sen. Rick Santorum (PA).
The main event at 8 p.m. EDT will feature Donald Trump (NY), Dr. Ben Carson (Fl), Sen. Marco Rubio (FL), former Gov. Jeb Bush (FL), Carly Fiorina (CA), Sen. Ted Cruz (TX), former Gov. Mike Huckabee (AR), Gov. Chris Christie (NJ), Gov. John Kasich (OH), and Sen. Rand Paul (KY).
Moderators for both debates are: John Harwood, Carl Quintanilla, and Becky Quick.
Trump doesn’t drink booze ever. He also doesn’t take drugs or drink coffee.
Neither do any of his kids.
Been to NY lately? Foreigners galore.
“All the media is saying Carson won. I predicted this earlier today. Carson was like a fish out of water, no command of any subject, and his childish sound âland of the free, home of the braveâ after almost any question sounds like kid talking.
Anyway heâs the âwinnerâ according to Fox and and the rest. If I were grading it would be Trump, Cruz, Rubio, Huckabee, the rest were no-shows.”
I think Carson did great. But so did everyone except Kasuck.
The average achievement in K-12 has been dumbed down through massive immigration and decreasing standards in many schools. But the right side of the Bell Curve in the US still achieves at a high and competitive level and our colleges turn out plenty of citizen tech majors according to several recent studies.
All too many corporations just have an interest in flooding the job market with tech grads by lobbying for more H1-Bs and higher immigration. They just want to lower pay in the US by increasing the supply of applicants.
I’ve been reading on this thread for some time about STEM grads that can’t get jobs. Let me tell you about some STEM grads. I’ve hired ~15 fresh out of college graduates in the last 3 years to build out teams that I had to reconstruct. I did this because I needed energy and I couldn’t find enough competent experience. 2 teams in 3 years.
In both cases I hired 3-4 folks with 10-15 years of experience first, then I brought in about 20 fresh grads in a 1-2 day period for face to face to fill out the 12 person teams I was building. The first time I did this we had about 20 candidates. When I got the group together after the round robin interviews ~ 1/2 of the candidates went on the floor before we started. Both times I’ve done this there were 1-2 candidates who were spectacular and there was no need to debate further.
The ones who went on the floor often had decent GPAs from decent schools. However, they came in unshaven, unprofessionally dressed, unable to write, unable to communicate effectively, or even outright lied to my face. I’m sure they’ll eventually get some sort of employment - but they weren’t about to work for me.
The middle group almost always ended in three pile: yes or maybe if the yes’s won’t accept, but they’d take some work. In the yes case both times it came down to picking between two very close runners. In both cases I took who I thought would be the best team player. The first go round I talked with multiple people before making my decision, the tie-breaker was the one who spoke a second language - the role had international travel associated with it - it made the most sense to take the one with more skills. She was 3rd generation.
Now did I hire any foreigners? Out of those positions I hired one and offered a second, both during the second set. The one who didn’t take the job spoke 3 languages, had lab and experience with the regulatory agency for the industry, and was SHARP. The one I hired and accepted had a masters. I turned down one who said paperwork was in order when it wasn’t - but then that one wasn’t really fresh out of college (2-3 years).
I guess my point is that industry WILL hire US grads - if they bother to show up for the interview (which reminds me I had 3 no shows) and perform. I didn’t lecture any of them, but I did tell them in a matter-of-fact way that when they showed up without shaving, etc it told me they didn’t care. I got one sob story out of the lot - I knew it was a lie, but I took the moment to teach and told him: “If it’d been me I’d have gone to Walmart or wherever and bought a blazer before I’d show up at an interview in a t-shirt. Besides I’m hiring people to solve problems, did you even try to do that?”
I agree that there are bad players in industry - the Disney fiasco is a case in point, and I’m aware they aren’t the only ones. However, there are also a lot of cases where the local talent just isn’t trying....but when they do - they win out. K.... done with my little soap box thingy.
I can’t on my computer! Yikes!
CNBC Poll
Who do you think won the GOP debate tonight?
44% Trump
12% Carson
4% Fiorina
15% Rubio
4% Christie
5% Kasich
5% Paul
Amen, and let me tell you...the repubs had better have a candidate with that ability to take on the media and Hitlery for the general election debates. Ted Cruz is clearly that man.
__________
And that’s what sets Cruz apart from the other candidates (that take it to the media)...he does it with CLASS and doesn’t come across like an @$$.
Were they patting themselves on the back and snickering afterwards, or did they cut it short?
I’ve never heard Kasich say anything that wasn’t a mix of whining and yelling. It’s how he talks. And his facial expressions drive me nuts.
Don't think it will work but all the Leftist media types are busy twittering fan girl gushes about Rubio.

Make that three, Trump/Cruz!
Katich is a supposedly republican governor who implemented Obamacare in his state. He has done more than his fair share to screw up the country.

They all should boycott the next debate unless it is moderated by members of the media who are likely to vote in the Republican primary.
I would suggest that CNBC get out of the debate business!!! This Obamabot lovefest media got their heads handed to them by the entire group of Republican candidates....a “spanking” they will not soon forget!!! I have prayed to God, Almighty for many years for some Republican, any Republican, to come back, in strong fashion, with this low life Obama/Clinton vermin!!! They got a just beating tonight!!! Thank you, Lord!!!
As for the debate, Trump won it, running away, Cruz was a strong second & Rubio wa a strong third!!! Th GOP ticket will be Trump (POTUS) & Cruz (VP). Jeb Bush is pure toast.....and Carson has had his fifteen minute of Fame!!!
I am hoping to find the replay - I don’t have cable telly, so there are websites I can’t access.
