Circulating on the web tonight:
During an appearance on the Alex Jones Show, Drudge asserted that copyright laws which prevent websites from even linking to news stories were being advanced.
I had a Supreme Court Justice tell me its over for me, said Drudge. Theyve got the votes now to enforce copyright law, youre out of there. Theyre going to make it so you cant even use headlines.
To have a Supreme Court Justice say to me its over, theyve got the votes, which means time is limited, he added, noting that a day was coming when simply operating an independent website could be outlawed.
That will end (it) for me fine Ive had a hell of a run, said Drudge, adding that web users were being pushed into the cyber ghettos of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
This is ghetto, this is corporate, theyre taking your energy and youre getting nothing in return nothing!
Probably.
The issue is ad revenue. Few understand the devastation that the internet has done to the ad business, which means free TV, cable, newsprint in all forms, etc is going away.
The ones who control the ads are also the ones who control access to the elite. Trump’s run has broken down that last firewall, and this is a stop gap.
I guess it is better than violence.
Trying to wrap my head around this one. How would it be enforced?
Maybe it's TPP that will do it.
Russia may be the next bastion of liberty.
My thoughts too. Move the URL to a friendly foreign location, and F the SCOTUS douchebags.
If the owner of the copy-written material allows electronic links to their material it is essentially an implied licence to view it. Providing a link isnt an infringement since it is just a path to the material. It is the site’s owner (presumably the one that owns the copyright) that decides who he lets view it. If the site owner doesnt own the material they would be liable, not the link provider.
Permissions will be granted. When you look at the web activity these sites generate FROM Drudge, you realize permissions would be granted very quickly. Being highlighted in Drudge is THE BEST abvertising your website could get, news wise. For me, when a poster says here on FR that they can’t use the link because of no permission...I avoid the link. (My personal opinion is such a headline, that you cannot pass on, shouldn’t even be posted here. Why give such a site business (hits)?)
The movie about Zuckerberg (The Social Network) should alert everyone about how sleazy and ruthless this geek SOB is. He is also an avowed left wing zealot, who will help his cause destroy us anyway he can. You are right, if you do have to use FB, keep it dancing kitties, and barking puppies.
We already know Free Republic is on the Radar.
I am sure we are on the Stasi's Target List as well.
sad , but true for normal, straight, white people anyway
You could always change FR to an educational site with a university facade. “Fair use” will never be restricted for universities.
“(ii) improve how information is presented to consumers, borrowers, program beneficiaries, and other individuals, whether as directly conveyed by the agency, or in setting standards for the presentation of information, by considering how the content, format, timing, and medium by which information is conveyed affects comprehension and action by individuals, as appropriate;”
Edward Bernays should get a posthumous Nobel, this is psychology-defined propaganda.
How do you get off Facebook? This thread has convinced me to do that.
“The MSM DESPERATELY wants to return to the days when THEY controlled what was news with reporters reaching movie star status. The internet destroyed that.”
Exactly.
It was great when we had this thing called Freedom of Speech in that musty old document called the Constitution.
The web will develop a dark side, with sites that skitter scatter all over, and everyone knows how to get what they want.
It will be like free movies.
Illegal, but everyone knows how.
Sounds like Roberts is still being blackmailed big time, another 5/4 decision.
“As long as Der Kommissar is in command, theyll be protected. If Drudge cant survive, I guess FR is going deep underground. Yay, net neutrality and giving control over to the Feds!”
Better read up on Tor, folks...
One of it’s more important uses is for sharing information where government censorship is an issue.
