The Beginning of the End for Trump: His Sarah Palin Moment
Heff Po ^ | 9/22/15 | Arianna Huffington

Posted on 09/22/2015 10:39:11 AM PDT by upchuck

... moment in the political life of every big-personality, more-sizzle-than-steak candidate when they step across the line of legitimacy, or illegitimacy (depending on your perspective), even for media addicted to the high ratings these candidate-entertainers provide. That moment for Sarah Palin was her Katie Couric interview in 2008 -- the hockey-mom-has-no-clothes revealing from which she, and the McCain campaign, never recovered. In Donald Trump's candidacy -- which The Huffington Post is appropriately covering in our Entertainment section -- the equivalent moment might have just happened.

It was not the moment in the second Republican debate when Carly Fiorina carved him up like an Easter ham with her withering "I think women all over this country heard very clearly what Mr. Trump said" zinger. That drew blood (as did the dramatic 12 seconds she remained silent after her response), but it wasn't fatal. No, historians looking back will peg the beginning of the end of the Trump show to his New Hampshire moment last week. Taking questions at a town hall event in Rochester, Trump listened as an audience member asserted that President Obama is a Muslim, "not even an American." Trump looked the man square in the eye, and declared: "No ... He's a decent family man [and] a citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign's all about. He's not [an Arab]."

Just kidding. That was actually what John McCain -- the one Trump said is "not a war hero" -- said to a woman at a campaign rally in 2008 who claimed that President Obama was an Arab. What Trump really said was, well, pretty much nothing: "We are going to be looking at a lot of different things and, you know, a lot of people are saying that."

Or the fact that Sarah was told that Couric was sympathetic and a “friendly” interviewer.

If she actually believed that, didn't it prove that the media were right about how poorly informed she was?

I'm not attacking Sarah, but come on.

First time National Campaign.

Alaska media were approachable, and mostly honest.

Campaign staff were supposed to be seasoned professionals.

At some point, you have to rely on “staff”.

Now she knows better, but who would possibly think that a Presidential campaign would pick you for VP, then deliberately undercut and destroy you?

It took actual experience to see that happen.

I was referring to HuffPo saying that they would no longer cover Trump in the political section, only the entertainment section.

“Her husband left her for another man. He made a good choice.”

Michael Huffington made a “documentary” called “A Jihad for Love”
which touted the supposed compatibilities between homosexuality and Islam, suggesting, presumably, why both should be embraced.
I haven’t seen it; it caught my eye on his Wikipedia page.
Whoa, that was an eye-opener.
So the Huff-tards actually see gays and Muslims as a mutual admiration society, and they’ve been pimping this great idea all along?
Explains a lot.

Didn't her ex-husband leave the fag-hag Arianna Grande Huffingspraypaint for a hotter, younger GUY?

Ariana Grande is more intelligent, anyway. Publish something by her.

Sarah was not the downfall of McLame, he was the loser in that relationship. The press had a hand in twisting the truth and projecting their opinion too.

I kept a record of the first 45 days of the foaming, rabid attacks on Palin. It was UNBELIEVABLE.

"people who would never vote GOP anyway"

Exactly. I've been challenging the libtards lately for instance: "Name one state where the Hispanic vote will change the outcome either way."

Haven't got any answers yet.

Beats me.

How do you argue one way then the other?

Do these folks have no core?

Rhetorical...

In all seriousness, why does Carly put lipstick ONLY on half of her lower lip? Is she ashamed of her thick lower lip?

Good comment:

you’re right .. “they have no core”.

They actually don’t want a core because they would have be accountable for their actions; poor things.

"Snarly". *That's* the word her face brings to mind!

And -- looking at post #36 this thread, the one with the pic captioned "Botox 2016" -- don't you think her face somewhat resembles Netanyahu ?

According to upchucks tagline he was a Cruz supporter. Strange FR would zot Cruz supporters (like me?) who support the most conservative candidate.

Strange times indeed.
