The GOP presidential debate winner Wednesday night was dominant front-runner Donald Trump, a Newsmax Poll finds.

In early results from a poll of Newsmax TV viewers, the billionaire businessman logged 64 percent support, while former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina came in second, with 12 percent.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz came in third with 6 percent.

Oh yeah, there was a debate last night. I forgot I watched “American Pickers”. And I consider it a better use of time.

Why? Because I’ve decided to give up caring about the race this early in the game. Folks we’ve got 3 full months before even the first primaries, much less Super Tuesday in March. An eternity in politics.

I remember this stage of the game when Fred Thomson was the front runner. Then Herman Cain. What’s happened to those guys?

The way I see things regarding Trump there are 3 possibilities:

1. He’s running a populist campaign but really has some good ideas waiting in the wings, ready to pounce when needed (when more candidates drop out of the race).

2. He’s running a populist campaign and that’s all he’s got.

3. He’s running a populist campaign but really he’s a self made plant, a secret mole of his own design coming in to completely disrupt the Republican primary process to pave the way for whoever the Democrat is.

If 1 is true, I’ll gladly give him a second thought and consideration when the time comes.

If 2 is true, there’s nothing much that I can do, other than be at the receiving end of some nasty Trump-bot bashes, which really doesn’t solve anything. People will be people and won’t change their mind just because some anonymous Internet posted disagrees with them. Even if the facts are on one side. This goes doubly so for those who are emotionally invested in a candidate. This thread is ample testament to that. Just look how someone who simply asked “Do you want to shrink government” was treated; practically treated like a Leper. No thanks, I don’t need such blind devotion so early in the game. Again, Trump could be (and probably is) the next Fred Thompson.

If #3 is the case, again, not much I can do for the same reasons as 2.

Why should I burn bridges hurling insults at people who later, I may need to try to convince to vote for another? That’s my driving principal now. It’s too early for such a scorched earth policy.

And I’ve got some catching up to do with past American Pickers episodes online.

To everyone: enjoy getting all angered and frustrated at topics and “news” that no one will remember 3 months from now, much less years from now.

There is a first...because I dislike Trump, I am a liberal. My family would really get a chuckle out of that.

Trump has flipped on core issues. He shows no sign of guiding principles: liberal or conservative.

FR threw out Romney for less. I am just shocked at the Trump Kool aid drinking going on here.

There’s a big difference between business and politics. Businessmen deliver a product or service after the negotiating is done.

That is the essential reason Trump is doing well. The GOP has not delivered anything for years.

I didn’t say he drove any from the race.

Trump pays for/threatens/bribes and GETS the lion’s share of media - including the debates, which are largely Trump Ads - at a debate, even if pubbies are going to continue to let them be orchestrated by the libs - each candidate should have equal time....

The polls after the last debate had Trump winning too.

Right. Trump winning in the polls before the last debate and after the last debate.

Same thing that's going to happen here.

Wrong on many counts. If calling Trump names blows your skirt up, have at it.

I enlisted in the Army for a 3 year hitch, held Top Secret and Crypto Security Clearances, and even extended my enlistment 11 extra months.

After that I landed a job in NYC. Worked in downtown Manhattan, in the Insurance District. Lived in Jackson Heights and had a pretty long commute. The building where I left my attache case was at 220 Church St., which was razed to make room for the World Trade Towers. I rubbed shoulders with purebred Neeew Yawkahs every minute. I found most of them to be confident, competent, no-BS gentlemen. But then, I didn’t have a chip on my shoulder.

There is no snide remark you can make that can turn me against Trump. Only he can do that, but I doubt that he will. He’s the only one in the field who has the chops to win against the GOPe, and then go to DC and bust up the Corrupt Bastards Club. If you can’t handle that, maybe Cher will give you a ride when she moves to the planet Jupiter.

Goodbye.

You are simply fishing for reasons not to like Trump. And it is becoming more obvious, as one goes down the line in this thread.

Well said.

“Trump has never in his life done a thing about “establishment pukes”. “

He’s doing quite a bit now.

If it weren’t for him, nobody would be talking about establishment Republicans.

“The major failing of Reagan is that he didn’t dismantle the BigGov machine. He could have knocked out both DoEs as they were very new, but didn’t.”

I agree partially with this. And when I looked into it, I came away with the impression that Reagan wasn’t able to knock out BigGov and DoEs because of the democrat controlled congress. Reagan achieved remarkable things, and all of it was with a democrat controlled congress. If he had a republican congress, he could gave dismantled the BigGov machine and knocked out both of DoEs. So, this is what I am left with as my analysis.

“Trump lost a fortune in RE and knows one thing in business: Trump.”

He lost money once and was worth -$150 million. Then, like most extremely successful and type A people, he worked long hours and is now worth billions.

That’s the same story with many billionaires - I don’t think it’s the money but the challenge that drives them.

Colonial George Washington's perilous experiences in the French and Indian War are chronicled in this riveting account of God's providence and protection. The only officer on horseback to avoid being shot down, young Washington openly attributed his miraculous escape from harm to the intervention of a sovereign God. A story once founded in student textbooks, this awe-inspiring adventure is recaptured in a modern edition complete with maps and illustrations

Reagan had an anchor on his neck and it was the NY money guys that made him go with such in Bush if he was to be on the Republican ticket. It was the eastern GOP establishment that took Goldwater down politically.

Those who claim that ridding ourselves of illegals is impossible don’t hate Trump because he is too liberal. They hate him because THEY’RE too liberal.

Yep you have nailed these DTS morons, they aren’t conservatives they are progressive trolls. Trump’s policy objectives are in most cases more conservative than anyone running and as at least as conservative in the other cases. Plus Trump can win the election, which advances conservatism, while these DTS morons root for one the losers that will give us a democrat (progressive) President in 2016. These TDS morons are not hard to see right through.
