The GOP presidential debate winner Wednesday night was dominant front-runner Donald Trump, a Newsmax Poll finds.

In early results from a poll of Newsmax TV viewers, the billionaire businessman logged 64 percent support, while former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina came in second, with 12 percent.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz came in third with 6 percent.

Trump has always asked us to measure him by his money. That’s Trump’s yardstick, not mine.

Live by money, die by money. Trump’s not a good businessman. His number one claim is bunkum. What else does Trump have?

BTW, I have no tail and don’t know what you’re talking about.

It's that ratty looking thing, like a Chiwawa, since you're an amnesty guy.

I too have been astonished at the all Trump all the time infatuation on FR. I recall the non stop bashing of Romney for flip flopping on issues; yet there has been rationalization after rationalization for the Donald.

Because I grew up in NY, I have seen Trump in action. Conservative is the last word I would use to describe him. His immigration stance is his one trick pony. Even there, he is murky. Deporting 11 million people would be shot down by the courts before the first bus left the country.

I’ll stick with Walker unless he drops out and only then. I don’t see any solid alternative with the proven experience Walker has.

If there is anyone the Democrat and their Democrat with bylines media buddies don’t want to discuss, it’s Scott Walker.

The great thing about him is that he went into the lion’s den and came out champion. Keep in mind that the battle we keep losing is against the hidden enemy - the Party of Government.

The Democrats are the public face of the Party of Government, but the GOPe is a secret friend. Government has a perspective and it wants more money and more power. Every agency works for itself and not the American people.

We have to cut off the supply and Walker did that in a way that you cannot undo. Union teachers themselves are deciding they’d rather have the money in their own pockets rather than union coffers. It’s brilliant pocketbook move.

That’s the kind of judo that’s been done to us with the Welfare State. Walker’s exactly the man we need for the job to be done. Illegal immigration is a symptom of lawless BigGov.

When they started to give illegals TINs (tax id #s) back in the 90s I knew the jig was up. Either we reign in BigGov or we keep losing. No other candidate has done what Walker did.

Trump is the anti-Walker.

My $0.02?

Trump come out of the debate OK as long as he didn't screw up. He didn't, so I suppose that makes him the winner.

Everyone is talking about how well Fiorina did - makes me wonder if I was watching the same debate. To me, she came off as a rude, nasty, know-it-all. About as far from presidential material as you can get.

IMO, Carson was the loser. Nice guy. Nice stories. Not presidential.

Kasich screwed up when he said that he'd trust Iran on this latest nuclear deal. Idiot. Confirmed for me that he's a Dem, just running as a republican.

Bush screwed up on his 2nd amendment question when he talked about the need to have "hearings" to determine "competency" in order to bear arms. I'm amazed that conservatives haven't buried him with that statement, yet. Maybe because its not worth the time, since his candidacy is about over.

The rest? No one really distinguished themselves. Christie talked a good fight, but it was 100% BS. Just sounded nice. Cruz looked the most presidential, but didn't really stand out. "Shuffling the deck chairs" was a quote I read. Apt.

Hopefully, we'll see the race consolidate some.

Promises are like rainbows. They’re never there when you arrive.

Imagine for a moment that the Clinton media machine were to link up to a NY Democrat billionaire and get him to cause havoc in the GOP race. Wouldn’t that make a great political thriller?

Real life is scarier than fiction.

I too have been astonished at the all Trump all the time infatuation on FR. I recall the non stop bashing of Romney for flip flopping on issues; yet there has been rationalization after rationalization for the Donald.

Most of it is in your own imagination, as Trump isn't being bashed for flip flops he's making now. He's being bashed for positions he held a long time ago which is being combined by hysteria and conspiracy theories about Trump being a plant for Hillary, even though he's beating Hillary in the polls now.

Some of us also probably realize as well that every single candidate-- even Cruz-- is weak on immigration, except for Donald Trump.

I've noticed that several of the most hysterical anti-Trump folks here are amnesty supporters. 1010RD, I suspect, is another example of that. But there are others I can point to. Maybe you?

Deporting 11 million people would be shot down by the courts before the first bus left the country.

Deporting illegal aliens which is already the law will be shot down? And you even gave the low number of 11 million, even though we've mentioned for months on this forum that the number is closer to 40 million. Mexico itself claims at least 30 million.

So, if you don't want deportation, what do you want to happen? Is it legal status?

You throw bombs and you call names.

And you run like a sissy on immigration when challenged. Your cowardice is telling.

For the last “how many” presidential cycles, I’ve dutifully voted for the dweebs the GOPe has foisted on me, and came off worse than I’d been before. Well, I’ve had it up to here!

The universal ruse that your type keeps flogging, will not fly. I’m not for Trump because I think he’s a Conservative. I’m for Trump because he obviously has a spine and a pair of gonads, and has named all the major national issues, which no other candidate has done. Nor has anyone else said what they WILL do about it, at least in a tone that convinces me.

So after all the foregoing fiascos, along comes a guy with the effrontery, the gall, the chutzpah to say he will close the uncloseable border; deport the untouchable privileged aliens and bring back industry and jobs to America.

Let’s see now, (scratching my chin), should I go with some pantywaist Caspar Milquetoast so-called conservative politician who’ll be owned by his donors; or should I go with the guy who sounded the alarm and woke up the nation, who named the unmentionable and by taking all the scorn and rebuke of the opposition has actually grown stronger and gained supporters? You know, I view that as a no-brainer. I’m going with the guy who has actually accomplished someting. I’ve had it with the politically correct pretty boys! I’m going with Trump....warts and all!

“Great, another day where Obama’s and Hillary’s crimes aren’t the headline on page one.”

A bit off topic but I would love to a sign at a Hillary event that says “Did you remember to wipe?”

I'm going to wade into this with a comment...

No one at the debate made this point, though Trump hinted around at it. You don't really need to deport 11 million (or 30 million, or whatever) by sticking them on a plane and flying them home.

If deportation exists as a credible threat, many will self-deport. Take away the job opportunities and - MOST important - the ridiculous amounts of benefits, and many more will leave. So long as the rest exist as a manageable number, we can figure something out.

Just my unsolicited $0.02.

It drives me crazy! Why can't one candidate say that? It is just common sense. Use the IRS as an example. They audit maybe 1% of the tax returns every year, but the threat keeps most in line. Its called a deterrent.

Compared to the Time and Drudge polls,

Trump is a bit lower, but still way out front,
Fiorina is about the same upper teens,
Rubio and Carson show much better here at 3 and 4 but they are below Cruz in the other polls,
Cruz is about the same, but he takes position 3 in the other polls.

Those in the early debate are not even listed in these polls.

I don’t think the ticket will be Trump-Fiorina.

I think it will be Trump-Cruz. Not the best ticket for me but this is what I see.

No question about it, and it’s obvious to anyone with a brain. That is what happened with Ike’s campaign to deport all illegals. He starts deporting thousands a day, and thousands more immediately flee. Those who claim that ridding ourselves of illegals is impossible don’t hate Trump because he is too liberal. They hate him because THEY’RE too liberal.

The debate format as well as the questions were designed to protect Obama and Hillary. It was set up to have the candidates do maximum damage to themselves and each other.
