Donald Trump continues to fascinate if likely not, for much longer, dominate.
With the next presidential debate upcoming what are his secrets?
Richard Fernandez at PJMedia is on to something:
Everyone who thinks Obama was an Alinsky disciple should watch Trump in action. He understands the Alinsky principle that public events are not about bandying words. They are about creating opportunities for transgressing certain emotional boundaries. Its about empowering the powerless.
Fernandez is on to something. It goes much deeper.
Trump is employing twelve of the thirteen tactics Saul Alinsky set forth in his classic work Rules for Radicals.
Are any of the other 15 Republican presidential contenders ready to throw away their consultants stale playbooks? If so theres a powerful campaign manual hidden inside Rules for Radicals.
It is unlikely that Trump ever read Alinsky. Trump presents as street smart not book smart. And Trump is no Alinsky. Alinsky was an affable, kind-hearted, humanitarian cynic. (Think Rick Blaine at the end of Casablanca.)
Still, they are alike in that Alinsky was and Trump is a provocateur. Alinsky enumerated a bakers dozen key tactics for that.
Trump employs a dozen of these. Trump, I recently predicted here, almost surely will balk at spending real money on his campaign and lose his preeminence.
Who will supplant him as front runner? The field is fluid. Any contender would benefit by proficient use of Alinskys thirteen Rules....

Trump is already spending his own money - That plane he flies on is not free
Now my head is really spinning.
Another article predicting the coming Trump Stumble.
By a guy who thinks that Saul Alinsky meant no harm...and that Ron Paul was a hero.
If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside .
The writer I think has mis read Alinsky. In this one, it’s a classic Clinton and Obama tactic, that if you tell a lie long enough it will be believed.
Trump, I don’t think lies. He used some talking points about Walker, maybe that stretched the truth abit.
IN SHORT, ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF MENTAL MASTURBATION TO DETHRONE TRUMP.
It’s so weird. Just yesterday I wrote here on FR how it really is the GOPe and Karl Rove who have been using Alinsky tactics on people like Sarah Palin and now Trump.
And I meant that with the full weight of understanding how Alinsky dedicated his book to Lucifer.
GOPevil. These people are actually evil. How dare this Forbes idiot try to smear Trump and ignore the despicable behavior of the entire GOPe.
Rove and the GOPe FUNDED PLANNED PARENTHOOD at least since 2000. Why? I don’t put it past them now to consider it ritual human sacrifice, to keep them in power with Lucifer’s help.
Yes I think they are THAT EVIL.
The people who are trying to take out Trump are the same people who tried to take out Palin and the same people who are trying to take out our nation vis a vis loss of sovereignty, destroying our healthcare system, killing our veterans, keeping us in unsustainable debt, slaughtering children in the womb, inviting our sworn national enemies in as refugees, denying our right to bear arms...
and the GOPe is more evil than the Dems because they conceal their true motives through deception.
GOPevil.
I think Trump is a direct product of Obama, who actually was familiar with Alisky through his mentor, Bill Ayres. Trump picked up on on the technique instinctively, I suspect, because he’s a showman and had already made a career of exceeding the normal boundaries of reason, emotional sensitivity, etc. So it was pretty natural to apply it to politics, especially after Obama had shown how well it works and how easily the American people can be manipulated through it.
Now Trump has said many times that he knows all the big buck donors buying up pols.........and Trump knows the NYC players--the ones dealing with the Clintons. Betcha Trump has the goods to put Bill and Hillary out of business in no time flat.
JUST FOR STARTERS Some Clinton Foundation donors and board members shady dealings and criminal convictions are legendary. The blockbuster Clinton Cash book details the buck-raking couples sordid circle.
The SEC charged a Clinton Foundation trustee with misallocating $9.5M from his database company. Shareholders sued for using the company jet to fly the Clintons around and paying Bill Clinton a $3M consulting fee.
A Clinton Foundation trustee was accused of paying Bahraini executives (roughly $52 million) to win sales contracts for US-based Alcoa which later settled with the DOJ for $384M.
A Clinton Foundation trustee donated to Hillarys campaigns...gave the Clintons millions in honoraria and millions more to the foundation. The trustee was arrested for allegedly defrauding a bank. He pleaded guilty in a Bklyn court to funneling more than $180,000 in illegal contributions to three federal candidates, Hillary among them.
An Indian legislator sat at the head table at the Clinton Global Initiative and dined privately with the Clintons at their home. He gave between $1-5 million to the Clinton Foundation....then was arrested for bribing members of parliament WRT a US-Indian nuclear-technology agreement....he was booted from his party, ending his political career.
Venezuelan Claudio Osorio fundraised for Hillary and supported the Clinton Global Initiative. He falsified federal applications and bilked US taxpayers to score a loan of $10M tax dollars to build homes in earthquake-ravaged Haiti. Osorio was convicted of financial fraud, using federal humanitarian assistance for personal benefit, and got 12 years in federal prison.
He was on the federal terrorist no-fly list yet a Lebanese-British businessman donated $460,000 to Miami Democrats for voter-registration and attended the Clintons WH Christmas party. He was later convicted of money-laundering and aiding a criminal organization WRT billions of dollars stolen from Nigeria.
The Lebanese businessmans company pledged $1 billion to the Clinton Global Initiative. The eco-minded Clinton awarded him a prize for sustainable development.
Problem with his reasoning is that Trump really doesn't have to spend as much money as his opponents. He has name recognition, worldwide. Everything he says and does gets reported by multiple outlets, which means he gets his message out there without having to create boring political ads that most people ignore anyway. Yes he spends money on his travel, but so do his opponents, and his opponents have to also spend money on political ads.
To top it off, endless emails asking for money to support him are not inundating people's inboxes, just your vote. Though he does occasionally send emails offering free bumper stickers.
I am neither a stalwart supporter, nor a bombastic detractor, just making an observation.
Incredibly minimal expense. He’s using OPM like a master.
>> endless emails asking for money to support him are not inundating people’s inboxes, just your vote.
Yes, and that’s nothing short of amazing.
I’m a Ted Cruz supporter, but even with Cruz, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of his emails to me are begging for money. (And that’s after already donating hundreds of $$$.)
No “Hi how ya doin’”, no “Here’s the latest issue and where I stand”, no “Please tell us what you think”. ONLY money begging.
It gets old and it’s depersonalizing, frankly. I’m a cashbag to them and nothing else.
With Trump, I’m just a number, not a cashbag, not anything else. :-) But at least he leaves me and my pocketbook alone.
I have found this election so far to be remarkable.
The rebellion has started and people are getting it.
We must hang strong. The GOPe must not win. If they do, the people will lose. We will never get rid of the entrenched progressive stranglehold of the establishment.
A chance like this probably will only happen once. Hang tough!
True words.
I am sick of Fox News...Rovio and crew with their smarmy attitudes and stupid commenmts drove me away
Trump has his own Rules as spelled out in "The Art of the Deal"
http://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-business-philosophy-from-the-art-of-the-deal-2015-6
BTW, "The Art of the Deal" was first published in 1987 and is still in the Amazon top 200 in book sales.
You nailed it, he is a marketing genius. If he wins there is an entire election industry that is at risk.
Pray America is waking
