Ohio is poised to become the second state in this country to ban abortion because of a fetal diagnosis of Down syndrome this fall. As a pro-choice woman who has a 7-year-old daughter with Down syndrome, I find this absolutely appalling.
This is an issue that hits close to home for me: If I had had a prenatal diagnosis, I would have obtained an abortion. Today, I am beyond grateful that I didnt. But I cannot ever in any circumstances imagine insisting others not have that right.
STORY: Moms Emotional Facebook Post About Baby With Down Syndrome Goes Viral
Studies vary, but anywhere from 67 percent to 85 percent of women who learn their baby has Down Syndrome terminate their pregnancies, according to a 2012 University of South Carolina review published in the medical journal Prenatal Diagnosis. Ironically, I asked my doctor several times for an amniocentesis. She talked me out of it, emphasizing that the blood screening tests Id taken boasted over a 90-percent detection rate. The uneasiness and anxiety I experienced throughout my pregnancy were blown off as first-mom jitters. (Maybe you need to go on Zoloft, the head of perinatology told me after I peppered him with questions during my 18-week ultrasound.)

I’d hand her a pistol, and tell her if you really believe that, then go ahead and kill her now.
What’s the difference but 7 years time?
Line the sight up at the back of her head , and pull the trigger, she’ll be better off right?
Well at least the mother wont be as inconvenienced.

Sadly, this Down Syndrome child deserves a real mother, not this piece of debris.
No one forced her to keep the baby.
Hey Mom! How about all of those children who are perfectly normal that are aborted, butchered and whose body parts are sold to the highest bidder? “Don’t change the forkin’ subject?” - Steven of Ireland
If they ever develop a prenatal test for autism, I guess we'll just close up shop.
You are not the first to tell me this. However I think there would always be some kind of disabled kid to have a camp for. Something would always come down the pike that would evade the tests for a while.
Hey give her to me. I have infertility. One kid. Would love to have a Down’s syndrome happy loving child, selfish B
Good for you.

Sadly, the screening takes place now — Downs live births will be an extreme rarity in the next decade and probably close to zero in the decade after that.
Amniocentesis.
No I don’t want one. Had one sonogram after a bout with the worst flu known to man.
Why did I do it? Reassurance
Sonograms are going to be found out to be more harmful than anything including vaccines once people pull their heads out and realiz

Ms. Levine, if *your* mother knew she would be giving birth to such a heartless bitch, maybe she might have chosen to abort *you*!
Down Syndrome kids can be helped. Yes they will have struggles and have special needs. Be thankful GOD doesn't use her & pro-abortion supporters standards on us to determine our life's worth.
And if your mother knew you were imperfect, should she have aborted you?

Wish the public at large would get a clue that the left loves death....loves killing. That’s all they talk about.

I would have more respect for her had she decided to give the baby up for adoption after it was born rather than raise a child she claims she didn’t want.
