Immigration: When Donald Trump proposed mandatory deportation of illegal aliens, pundits and politicians on both sides of the political aisle were appalled. But on this issue it looks like Trump has the public on his side.
The fire from the right was almost as fierce as that from the left. "It's not conservative and it's not realistic and it does not embrace American values," said Jeb Bush.
Sen. Lindsey Graham called it "absolute gibberish."
Conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer called the idea "crackpot" and "morally obscene."
But the prize for overheated rhetoric goes to Hillary Clinton, who said Trump wants to "literally pull people out of their homes and their workplaces, round them up, put them, I don't know, in buses, boxcars, in order to take them across our border."
So what do these folks say about the fact that the majority of Americans back Trump on this?
The latest IBD/TIPP Poll asked 913 adults coast to coast if they "support or oppose mandatory deportation of illegal immigrants in the U.S." Not surprisingly, 87% of Trump supporters back the proposal.
What's surprising is that 59% of the overall public does as well. Mandatory deportation gets majority support in all age groups except 18-24, every income group, among both women and men, at every level of educational achievement, and in rural, urban and suburban regions.
More interesting still is the fact that 64% of independents and 55% of moderates support deportation.
Even among Hispanics, the poll found 40% backed mandatory deportation

The 41% are probably illegal alien invaders.
How could any SANE person NOT support the expulsion of (to put it bluntly) peons, lowlifes, and criminals, who willingly broke the law to enter this country.
Why would any reasonable person think they would respect our laws once here?
Deport them all, including their illegal alien children.
I have been asked how a child born here can possibly be an illegal alien; my response always has been and always will be, “ if one or both parents came here illegally, then their sperm, ova, or both are here illegally = illegal child”. Sound cold hearted; TOUGH, GET OUT NOW.
The polls have always showed that. The GOP never took advantage of immigration as a winning issue.
I never said a word about FOX.
But But But how can you win with 59% of the vote without having 40% of the Hispanic vote.
Do they really let you have a landslide with 59%???
Can’t be, the MSM, GOPe and Dems, not to mention whory Ramos, told me it’s impossible.
For every illegal we deport, we can take someone off welfare and give them the job the illegal was doing.
Just what is in the current law in connection with the deportation of illegal aliens?
I thought that they were supposed to be deported and that the laws were being ignored by the government.
There’s lots of Americans worried about not getting their lawns mowed.
Yeah. It’s shocking they are actually posting poll results even remotely close to the truth.
BTW - “The dO==Donald” isn’t the only one talking about building walls and deporting people.
Central European nations have seen what is happening to their historical cultures and now want no part of it.
As for the costs - I personally think the numbers being pushed by its opponents are too high - perhaps by a factor of ten.
All I do know is it will much more expensive if we don’t do something.
I’m shocked it’s only 59%!
Only shocking to those who are so far gone they don’t even know they are gone
Trump says he will deliver the country back to 74% of the population. I wonder why his poll numbers are a mystery to the "experts"?
GOP never took advantage of this as a winning issue
You assume, as so many do, that they want to win. There’s really no reason to assume that.
They play dumb, they hire people to run the party to give them the stupidity front
If they wanted to win, wouldn’t they be running around talking about the biggest republican senate victory since the 1920’s? Wouldn’t they be paying attention to the base that got them the house and the senate? Wouldn’t they exalt Reagan who won every state except one in his second election and not exalting Bush who squeaked by in both of his and is still hated?wouldnt they be helping Trump? Or at least Carson or Cruz instead of pushing yeb?
No they have a good thing going being on the losing minority team
Figure that out, and their behavior makes more sense
And it has to do with running for one thing then giving it up after elections to bring it up again next election
It’s over, though no way will anyone log their wimps get elected in the next election. Americans are hard wired to be attracted to non wimps
Uh, no...Conservative GOPe commentator Charles Krauthammer....
Gets my vote.
How did let become log? Dunno
Shock Poll: 59% Back Trump On Deportation of Illegals

Yes that is shocking...what’s wrong with the rest ???
It should be much more...are the other 41% all illegal liens ???
