Donald Trump went back and forth with NBC host Chuck Todd on Sunday in one of his most combative interviews since announcing his presidential candidacy earlier this summer.
In a 37-minute conversation on "Meet The Press," Todd pushed Trump on a wide range of issues with which the real-estate magnate would presumably be confronted if he won the presidency in 2016. It forced Trump to be on the defensive on everything from his college record, to outsourcing, to the US role in NATO.

He's gone down one point after getting a post debate bump of 5 points.
I thought that was the best interview I’ve seen Trump give. Trump was pretty patient with Todd and I don’t see that he came away looking bad at all. Looked very knowledgeable and capable.
...What part was a hit piece? Dang, Trump did well I thought...
The thread our posts are connected to is the hit piece.
Donald handled Chuck masterfully.
Maybe its good that Republicans have to battle harder—they are ready anything Putin tosses at them that way. Or Democrats in Congress and supream Court.
That’s what I thought. Unless you start writing EO’s, it’s the job of the Legislative or Congressional Branch, not Executive.
Mr Trump is expected to fix all of the past legislation that we abhor when it is not something he can legally do. He can negotiate trade agreements, he can insist/require that laws on the books be adherred to, he can influence congress, he can rally the people but he can not nor will not tear up existing laws. Laws we don’t like need to be readdressed, not expect him to FIX it.
This is really a pretty huge issue. With Russia's economy contracting pretty badly, it appears Putin will continue using his military to achieve "victories" for his country. It's a pretty good bet Putin will continue intervening in Eastern Ukraine - possibly more overtly than ever in the coming months. If Ukraine was given a green light to join NATO, that could spark a war. Russia would not wait for that integration, they'd probably move to take at least half of Ukraine immediately. On the other hand, some signal needs to be sent to Russia to stop what they are doing. Speaking for myself, I would be more comfortable with something along the lines of "we can't support Ukraine joining NATO at this time but we can provide them defensive weapons". "I don't care either way" doesn't really cut it.
I realize Trump is not going to versed on every issue, but this one is pretty significant. He will need to work on a more concrete policy where the Ukraine is concerned. Especially because he can ridicule Hillary over the Russian reset fiasco. This is a good opportunity for him to lambaste her for utterly failing in her dealings with Russia.
This is about the 1000th article from the Business Insider spinning against Trump. The other ones were so effective /sarc
Bully pulpits mean something in a process like this.
HIS college record??? At least he HAS a college record. Nobody even remembers seeing Obola in a classroom let alone his college record.
I think Rush is doing a play on words. Meld “F Chuck” and it does not take too much imagination where this ends up. Then when you put it all together “ F Chuck Todd” with a little imagination you see where this is going!!!!
But again, is Ukraine stupid. It knows that because of Obama, NATO would be the worst of both worlds. Toothless tiger, big provocation to Russia.
Todd went after Trump for frequently mentioning the Wharton School....but then I thought...didn’t Todd not graduate?
Seems to me Trump was pretty nice to him.
Is this "news" to you?
funny I thought both Todd and Trump did great
I think Trump might be hinting that if Ukraine really wants to do that, a President Trump would be willing to talk about it.
Trump just might be someone who Putin would respect.
Huh?
Your response makes no sense.
Yes, the President CAN direct his/her Justice Department to take on affirmative action. When cases arise that have to do with affirmative action and the Federal government, such as affirmative action in contract hiring, etc, a President that opposes affirmative can take it to court and try to get the law struck down. A President who is against affirmative action can also have his departments write friend of the court briefs to bolsters other litigation against affirmative action.
Unfortunately, Trump just said in this interview he supports affirmative action. Which means he isn’t going to work to eliminate it.
It would take a President to sign the ENDA. Trump seems to support it. That isn’t good. This is a leftist piece of legislation designed to deprive traditional, religious Americans of their ability to control who works for them. It gives special rights to homosexuals.
It’s like you didn’t even read what I previously posted, just went on with your rant.
That is possible.
I am not saying Trump would not deal with this issue effectively, my point was simply that I didn't think he handled it well in this interview. And yes, it does concern me that he thinks he'd get along well with Putin. Putin cares about his agenda, everyone from Bush on down the line has misjudged him or thought they could reign in his worst impulses - all have largely failed to date.
It seems like everyone is so hypersensitive about their candidates. Just because I didn't think he answered some of these questions well doesn't mean I am certain he couldn't deal with the issue.
Todd wasn’t asking questions to elicit information, he was trying for ‘gotchas’. He kept interrupting and changing what he was asking Trump before Trump could finish responding.
Todd combative? No. Rude? Yes.
Well the Trumpster is going to get some pushback here if he wants to give the nod to ENDA (but again the current composition of Congress may make that not a live issue).
He might belong to a denomination that “doesn’t care” but that isn’t the composition of all America.
Too soon to say if he will wise up. He yet may.
Yes, Trump is the alpha to a bunch of wimps.
