We need fewer legal permanent immigrants and fewer guest workers.

Most H1Bs are completely fake. They do not have the credentials they claim they have, and do low-paid grunt work for long hours.

About 20 years ago, all these jobs were filled by Americans. They were not very good either, but the salaries were higher.

We need nationwide self-deportation policies such as what Arizona had before the BRT’s (Black Robed Thugs) ruled against it.

Is there some reason you didn’t just call this a pro-immigration thread ???

I’d like to see a pro-immigration thread...

or if you prefer an immigration thread..

yes that would be even better..

the noun IMMIGRATION can stand alone and then everyone knows what you mean..

the extraneous words usual color the intentions of the writer..

so just what were your intentions ???

What do you think about immigration ??

Legal immigrants need to be assimilated and US citizen workers need a reprieve from the onslaught of job theft committed by illegal aliens.

* Deport illegal aliens on contact with LE, federal/state/local
* Enforce the law vigorously on employers of illegals and with severe penalties
* Strong border security. Build the fence
* Eliminate entitlements for illegal aliens, e.g. no tuition assistance or DL. Nothing beyond emergency care, followed by deportation
* End the “anchor baby” policy
* Illegal entry forfeits forever any chance for citizenship

And no increase in H1B’s.

It’s time for another 20-30 year moratorium on legal immigration.

Absolutely zero straight immigration. Some restricted family immigraton. Very little merit immigration.

Figures should be less than 100,000 per year for 20-30 years.

We are Balkanized to the max right now. Until the current folks know English and have become accustomed to and adoptive of our custom, no way should we be letting more folks in.

Thousands upon thousands of H1-B visa employees have only just graduated from college, meaning they’ve only just finished taking courses in engineering or computer programming.

In other words, they have have SKILLS in NAME ONLY.

There is no need for many if not most H1B job seekers to be in the USA, since they still need many years of on the job training and mentoring to become productive employees.

Personally, I think a lot of well-meaning people are using their energy and efforts to deal with the wrong problem.

Immigration laws would be almost unnecessary if we didn't have a welfare state to attract hordes of people from all over the planet.

why not do it like Australia where they have a point system and also if immigrants arrive then they are put onto islands and not the mainland while they are processed and many times deported back?

Only foreign women, 45 and younger. NO males, including their kids. 75% of the entrants must be under age 35.
There will be a weigh in at the airport.

Next question.

At this point, we need a 10-year old moratorium on any immigration at all.

Sorry, I would propose a 30 year moratorium on any immigration, so we can finally have a chance of integrating those already here. We sure as hell don't need H1B visas at all.

“We want the best and brightest from around the world to come here.”

Best and brightest, yes.

More, no.

There must not only be a major shift on the type of immigrants we are importing, but a drastic reduction in the numbers.

We don’t need more HB-1 visas. Over half of all STEM graduates aren’t working in STEM, and relatively few of those upgraded to engineering management. And STEM graduate wages in most areas are flat or declining, whereas a real increase in wages would demonstrate growing demand.

It doesn’t work, I’ve been there and done that. I retired early because the work atmosphere was so hostile. When the foreigners replaced the Americans, my jobs were no longer fun.
