Carbon-14 Found in Dinosaur Fossils

by Brian Thomas, M.S. *

New science directly challenges the millions-of-years dogma scattered throughout the blockbuster movie Jurassic World. The spring 2015 edition of the Creation Research Society Quarterly (CRSQ) is a special issue that focuses on the investigation of dinosaur proteins inside fossil bones. The last article in the issue presents never-before-seen carbon dates for 14 different fossils, including dinosaurs. Because radiocarbon decays relatively quickly, fossils that are even 100,000 years old should have virtually no radiocarbon left in them.1 But they do.

Jurassic World characters repeatedly mention "million years ago" in the context of their dinosaurs. In the movie, fictional scientists essentially resurrect and genetically redesign dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and even a giant mosasaur—creatures supposedly extinct for 65-75 million years.

Rainwater seeps into fossils near the surface, leaving behind traces of Carbon 14.

Excellent

Sure, but finding soft tissue does not date a fossil to 100,000 years (or whatever the exact maximum age is before the particular type of tissue decays). It merely sets that to the maximum possible age for the fossil. The remains could easily be much younger, but they can’t possibly be any older.

“There may be movements out there that have done more to keep thinking people away from the message of Christianity more than the young-earth crowd has, but offhand I can’t think of any.”

Wow, no criticism for the philosophy of secular humanism that has tried to twist science into a tool to ridicule religious faith?

Instead, let’s criticize those who are fighting secular humanism, and pretend that people can hold two contrary worldviews and follow them both faithfully.

Amen. But I believe, anyhow. Because if you don’t believe it, you’re calling Christ a liar. He spoke clearly and specifically about the creation of Adam and Eve; and in Genesis, about everything else.

Since Christ is actually the One who did ALL of the creating, I think it best to take His Word regarding Creation...if I expect Him to provide Salvation. But that’s just silly old me.

poor creationists, grasping at every straw to prove a literal interpretation of a book written thousands of years ago by people riding mules and camels around the desert.

Mocked by people that believe in global warming caused by humans..
and who elected a known Marxist that says he’s black but had a white mother.. and who knows who his father is..

AND committed several proven caveman ape scams all with a straight face.. and believe humans evolved whatever evolved means this week..

And have made almost all colleges re-education camps for socialist ideas and reduced journalism to most gossip columns and rumor rags..

...to prove a literal interpretation of a book written thousands of years ago by people riding mules and camels around the desert.

That's a really a ignorant statement.

You make them sound like they are superstitious and ignorant...

Over the thousands of years of history, peoples around the world without the benefit of modern technology build magnificent structures and cities that we hardly understand how they did it, rode donkeys and mules...

These same people wrote and kept a written history (Torah) that is recorded in the most precise way that even a misplaced punctuation was reason to throw the whole book out and start again...

There is far more compelling evidence the Torah is more accurate than "The Iliad" which the text we consider accurate was written 800 years after the events.

Do you believe the book written by Homer is fiction ?

I might also add a suggestion to look up what "Pascal's Wager" is...

No kidding. Creationists have done huge damage to the image of Christianity and Christians here in the US and probably Europe as well.

You mean the Bible has done huge damage to the image of Christianity.

I mean, who believes the Bible anyway? Why should we when we can believe people like Al Gore and Bill Nye?

Creationists have done huge damage to the image of Christianity ...

Maybe some of us are more concerned with truth than our image. Consider that the propaganda campaign for billions of years has already spent hundreds of billions of dollars to create an orthodoxy of dubious science. There are many problems with old earth "evidences" and even more for godless existence; I for one will interpret the rocks by the Bible and not interpret the Bible by the rocks. I find special revelation to be the superior epistemological standard to general revelation. It is socially more costly to stand for truth and oppose the well-funded majority opinion, but truth is independent of your belief or even your ridicule.

Here is an interesting passage from II Peter, second chapter. Notice that the mockery was anticipated:

3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” 5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, 6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water.

No, I won’t.

I’ve been in FR for years, and only a few of those ago, I decided to focus on creation issues.

Speaking of stupid, I’d be happy to match credentials.

I have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, with the whole nine yards of experience to go with it.

No, that’s NOT what I mean. The Bible is the Bible. Science is science. They each serve a purpose but neither should try to do the job of the other. Yet that’s what Creationism is... people trying to make the Bible a science textbook. It isn’t a science book and never was meant to be that.

I’m not ridiculing anyone, just stating a fact: Creationists tend to make Christians in general look like nutjobs to the average observer. That’s the sad reality. try arguing with someone on the Left about this and you’ll instantly see what I mean.

You are free to believe anything you like, but Creationism isn’t good science. And we don’t need Creationism to be saved.
