Does today's ruling by SCOTUS constitute legitimate reasons to fly the flag upside down?
I wouldn’t.
I ordered a Confederate flag and I will fly it below Old Glory.
Been putting my flag stamps upside down for the past six years. My own little protest.
Exactly my feelings. The simple fact that the left loathes the Confederate flag is a fantastic reason to fly it.
It is a bit of in your face rebellion -- if every patriot would fly one on their private property the left would go even more insane.
All we need is a leader to ignite the spark to set off a rebellion and take the country back by force. The U.S. has the largest standing Army in the world and its not the U.S. Military, it’s us the millions of very well armed American citizens. The lefties know that and that is why they are trying so hard to take away our guns, and don’t kid yourself, that is exactly what they want. The only thing keeping them from taking away every right we have left are our guns. If they ever succeed in taking them from us it’s all over. I will die first, will you?
After a little research at the suggestion of yourself and others, based on descriptions, significance, and history (Washington’s cruiser flag), I’m opting to display An Appeal to Heaven Flag!
It definitely fulfills my needs, and says exactly what I want to say.

When LBJ murdered JFK, it was time to fly the flag upside-down. Problem was, the people who knew—like RFK and Jackie—both had zipper problems, and feared Hoover and LBJ.
When Clinton and Hillary! were handing over missile and nuclear technology to the Red Chinese would have been a good time.
When the Saudis attacked the U.S. on 9/11, and Bush whisked a planeload of Saudis out of the country, without even an FBI interview, would have been a good time.
When Obama was elected through voter fraud, both times, would have been a good time. (If McCain or Romney had ever moved into the White House would have been a good time.)
From now until (IF) Obama leaves the White House is a good time to fly the flag upside-down. If anyone but Ted Cruz moves in will be a good time, since otherwise the borders will remain open, Islam will continue to control our government, etc.

It might be, but that is completely irrelevant to flag etiquette. Refuse to display the flag if you choose, but if you are going to fly it, do so properly.
Think of flying the flag upside-down as the equivalent of calling 911. Would you call 911 because you’re upset with the political situation in this country? Let me know how that works out for you if you do.
I took mine down and have replaced it with my Christian flag. That is all I will fly from now on. This is not my country any longer. The courts, the so called leadership in Sodom on the Potomac is not my leaders any longer. Obama has never been my president. I will no longer vote for RINOcrat party members. I am done with them. No, Carl. You need to read up on flag etiquette. Once again, being uset, annoyed, angry, etc. is not the same as being in actual immediate physical danger.

I quit flying the American flag right side up a year after (gave him the benefit of the doubt)Obama was elected. That flag has long deteriorated and been properly destroyed.

The United States of America is dead to me. I will not fly the flag and I will not honor or acknowledge it any more until she repents.
I respect the past sacrifices, but it ends there. 4 July 1776 is an interesting date in history, much like 15 June 1215 for the Magna Carta or 2 March 1836 for Texas Independence, but I don’t celebrate them.
If I fly a flag, I will still fly a Texas flag, for now.

I support your sentiment but some how prefer the symbolism of the coiled rattlesnake to the laid out rattlesnake.

I always liked it better than the yellow Gadsden Flag because of how it resembles the stars and stripes.

No reason why a new flag with a coiled snake on the stripes couldn’t be made.
