Does today's ruling by SCOTUS constitute legitimate reasons to fly the flag upside down?
That’s great!
Yep, the current flag is corrupted.
two years ago I visited the eastern shore of Maryland to eat mass quantities of crab cakes and where I bought this bumper sticker. It is localizing the sentiment rather than mocking it.
There was another that said "We're not Maryland we're the Eastern Shore"
My 16 year old daughter said that we should turn July 4 into the new Memorial Day. Heartbreaking!
I’m definitely not flying the U.S. flag any more, I haven’t decided what flag we’ll fly here yet.
Yes. There have been many SCOTUS decisions in the last 50 yrs that have hurt the nation. Hurt culturally, politically, and economically.
Congress has the authority to impeach justices...just say'n.

Concur as well. I don't feel like celebrating the Fourth of July this year, after Obama has "fundamentally transformed" this country into a hellhole.
Iit’s an opportunity to remember what this country used to be.
Since the treasonous SCOTUS decision of Roe v. Wade (a crime against humanity) and continuing through today with the Traitorobama regime's efforts to force citizens to pay for abortion-causing drugs, used to end pregnancies, there has been the genocidal slaughter of over 54 million unborn Americans in the last 35 years. This country is sinking (if not sunk) in dire distress and extreme danger to life and property.
It is both the current Demonicrat terrorism and the gutless cowardess of the GOP that threatens extreme danger to life and property of Americans today. (The testimony of the tens of millions of unborn Americans being torn to pieces in the womb or burned in caustic saline solution will have to wait until Judgment Day.)
Now five members of the Supreme Court have perverted the meaning of marriage out of their traitorous flatulence. Along with homoterrorist leftists, the SCOTUS signals an open attack on congregations, parochial schools, colleges, universities, seminaries, nursing homes, orphanages, and charitable organizations of church bodies who oppose the obscenity and perversion coming out SCOTUS decision. Employers and employees of businesses are also and already have been threatened.
In fact, amid the genocide-by-abortion and the homoterrorist abominations in the U.S. today, and until the traitors are brought to justice, tried, convicted, and sentenced for giving aid and comfort to the enemy, it would be a sign of patriotism for an American to fly the American flag upside down (as well as right-side up, too)!
Independence Day celebrations are now such a farce that I won’t be attending them either. They are a mockery.
I was considering doing that with my American flag (which I fly on the shore of Lake Erie) when Obama was “elected”. I chose to fold it nicely, kiss it goodbye, and put it into storage until the day (if it comes) when sanity is restored to our good neighbour.
One can do both. Flying the flag upside down is one small way we can begin to publicly make our rising discontent known - especially to our sleeping neighbors who still haven’t figured out that their Republic is deteriorating in front of their eyes. By itself it may not achieve much, but it’s the least we can do.
Yep, my Appeal to Heaven flag is definitely going up on Independence Day weekend.
Nice! I like it.
I feel bad for the Eastern Shore (and Western MD), out voted by Baltimore and the DC suburbs.
Well, Mr. Vehse, you just can’t seem to get it. Unless you yourself are going to be killed, maimed, or robbed in the immediate future, as in within moments, it is indeed disrespectful to the flag to fly it upside down. But it’s your flag. Treat it as you please. Our infallible Supreme Court has declared flag-burning to be a protected form of free speech, so do as you will. Merely flying your flag inverted is no doubt similarly protected.
But don’t stop there! If you’re that displeased with the government, why not trample the flag, or defecate on it, or use it to patch your pants?
I will continue to feel contempt for those who display the flag improperly.
I pretty much stop caring about that when I outgrew fireworks. Now I just wish the neighbors would stop popping them off and scaring the dog. Seriously, on the 4th itself it’s like ISIS is attacking around here, you can’t walk.
Hartley, it is you who seems not (or refuses) to get it. The SCOTUS decisions (1973 and 2015) should be treated and dealt with as acts of treason, These opinions and those who support them endanger the lives and property of Americans. For this reason the flag can and should be flown upsidedown until the threat is passed.
Taking my stated reasons and recommendation that the flag be flown upsidedown, your conclusion that flying the flag upsidedown is not much different than trampling or defecating on the flag is duplicitous. First, as I previously noted, the upsidedown flag is not a symbol that the United States is endangering lives and property, but rather it is the traitorous members of SCOTUS, and their supporters, who have endangered the lives and property of U.S. citizens. Second, if you recognize the U.S. Flag Code in 36 USC §176(a), but disagree about whether the level of dire distress or extreme danger exists, then your urging to trample or defecate on the flag shows your contempt for the flag rather than for those who fly the flag upsidedown because they recognize the dire distress and extreme danger of the SCOTUS decisions.
"I will continue to feel contempt for those who display the flag improperly."
It will a misguided feeling of contempt if it is directed to those who fly the flag upsidedown in response to the traitorous SCOTUS decision.
Agreed. I’m so sick of the idiot neighbors getting drunk and cooking off illegal fire works. It was fun the 4th but now every night in summer gets to be a bit much... I guess for low IQ individuals they enjoy the stimulation.
Now that you mention it I am seriously wondering the same thing. Should we be saying the pledge? Your right we are no longer a Republic. We are not a Nation under God. What do we do? I don’t want to disrespect those who have died for us. I love them so, and the ones who have and do serve. It’s quite a dilemma.
No. But half mast (virtually) may be appropriate
” No, it isn’t. Flying the flag upside down is disrespectful and an insult to your country. “
our country has been insulted enough
