Likely Republican presidential candidate Sen. Lindsey Graham predicted Thursday that the
GOP will lose the 2016 presidential election unless they win over Hispanic voters by supporting a long, hard path to citizenship.
If I were president of the United States, I would veto any bill that did not have a pathway to citizenship, the South Carolina Republican told USA Today. You would have a long, hard path to citizenship but I want to create that path because I dont like the idea of millions of people living in America for the rest of their lives being the hired help. Thats not who we are.
Mr. Graham argued that his party risks losing the presidency with its current hard line on immigration.
Well lose, he told USA Today. I mean, weve got a big hole weve dug with Hispanics. Weve gone from 44 percent of the Hispanic vote (in the 2004 presidential election) to 27 percent (in 2012). Youll never convince me its not because of the immigration debate.
Mr. Graham also lashed out at Republicans who believe securing the border is the first priority.
Thats not practical, he said. No Democratic Congress is going to give the Republican Party everything we want on border security until you tell them what happens to the 11 million.

Dear Lindsly,
Here I’ll fix it for you to understand.
No Democratic Congress is going to give the Republican Party anything we want...”
Hey Grahamnesty, if the GOP can only win by becoming the ‘rats, then why shouldn’t we just vote for the ‘rats? Azzhole.
Kinsey Garbage, read the current LEGAL IMMIGRATION LAW. It has a path to CITIZENSHIP!
Grahmnasty knows he will never be elected he is obviously in the race as spoiler.
He could suddenly switch to democrat he does posses all the deviancy liberals cherish, seriously I would not put it past him or McCain to have his back in doing so.
“I dont think America can survive two gay presidents in a row.”
Just tell me, will he loose his Senate seat to run? If he will, I hope he stays in the race. He needs to be gone along with his “buddy” John McLame.
Little Lindsey WANTS TO SECURE HIS FUTURE AS A $1,500,000 YR. PAID LOBBYIST.
I GUARANTEE IT.
Thats not practical, he said. No Democratic Congress is going to give the Republican Party everything we want on border security until you tell them what happens to the 11 million.
That is REALLY WEIRD. Is he saying that he’s running as a Democrat, and wants a Democrat Congress to work with? Or is he saying that he’s running as a Republican, but prefers a Democrat Congress to work with?
8 years ago, with Pelosi/Reid controlling Congress, maybe what he said would have made sense. Does he even know which party is in charge of the House and Senate now? (I know...but Republicans are still in charge)
This remark sounds PSYCHOTIC.
“This remark sounds PSYCHOTIC.”
I think he unintentionally let the veil slip a little. He, like Arlen Specter, knows he fits better with the democrats.
Linda stepped out of the closet for a moment and admitted that Democrats, not Republicans, are in control of Congress.
Wonder why he didn’t give us this information when he was running for reelection?
Dear Linda,
Go away.
Quite sincerely, ‘Pod
This is the one issue on which the R party earns its nickname the “stupid party”. If you peaked at 44% of the Hispanic vote among legal Hispanics—most voters a legal, Lindsay—what are you going to get in votes when you add more of those voters to the system? You will get a majority who vote Dems, only then you will have a larger number of Dems and the new voters are much more likely to vote Dem. Can’t this guy do basic math? Legalization of the illegals is a losing plan for R’s and won’t benefit Lindsay unless he is planning to switch to the D party.
Let’s rewrite Lindsay’s statement from the perspective of the D party. We D’s got a minimum of 66% of Hispanic votes in prior elections. If we can legalize the illegals, they are the most Dem-leaning of all Hispanics and although we will lose some votes from our current citizens, the boon in new D voters will drown out any opposition. This is big—we D’s win big for as far as the eye can see! No more election worries. Then we can concentrate 100% of our attention on how to get more loot!
Shadows?? What shadows?? Here in Texas they line up in broad daylight to collect their freebies!

Rand Paul's immigration speech...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.[Posted on 03/19/2013 7:04:07 AM PDT by Perdogg]
Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.
If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...
This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.
Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.
Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reformLatinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...[Posted on 04/21/2013 1:52:42 PM PDT by SoConPubbie]
