Why men won't marry you
Fox News ^ | May 1, 2015 | Suzanne Venker

That’s a question Peter Lloyd tackles in a series in London’s Daily Mail about Britain’s marriage rate, which is at its lowest level since 1895. “The state of matrimony is not just ailing. It is dying out faster than a mobile phone battery,” Lloyd writes. “For an army of women, Mr. Right is simply not there, no matter how hard they look for him.”

Pretty sad that you think all men are supposed to be pansy mama’s boys.

Fully aware of the letter of the law.

Also fully aware that family courts both in and outside of Texas (as this article is not just about Texas) routinely ignore said or similar laws. Divorce lawyers are also well versed in the technicalities in getting around them, too.

I know you’re serious. That’s what is so sad. These men behave boorishly and wonder why they’ve been removed from the candidate list. And the horror stories go on. Very sad. I think the one girl might look for someone outside the country. The other girl is considering a man outside her faith.

I actually wasn’t aware of that. A guy I worked with got it REALLY bad. Lost all 4 of his kids and pays out the wazoo for child support. He was a raging alcoholic until the payments cured him of it. He was actually a jolly drunk though. Rick was an ok guy he just liked to party. Dude pays 700 a week. They figure it based on income, I understand.

That’s because the older they get, they start leaning right a little bit (assuming they have a functional brain)and have seen liberal policies faceplant as they always do.

Really? Care to explain this then?

http://www.bocaratondivorcelawyerblog.com/2010/08/how-much-alimony-is-just-too-m.html

It’s nice that states are finally starting to realize this is a problem. But it’s been a problem since the 1970s and before. The best part is that if ridiculous alimony is awarded, even if the man appeals, *he still has to pay that alimony while the appeal is going on* in addition to paying the not-cheap lawyers. Most men realize that having a net negative income because of paying lawyers + alimony is a losing proposition so they just suck it up and pay the alimony.

As for my attitude: I might have a better attitude if the courts (not just in Texas but all over the country) weren’t so biased in the woman’s favor.

It’s not aged based. Single women of all ages vote for liberals.

If you behave as an old fashioned gentleman, women literally or figuratively slap you in the face. Get that often enough and you then start treating a woman, as the feminists demand you do, as just another guy - because you’ve learned that anything else is going to be painful.

If that’s boorish, that’s too bad. This is what the feminists have done, please take it up with them.

We live in a “sex on the third date society”.

I've heard about the "third date rule," too, from friends who date. It seems that people today think there's something wrong with a person who chooses to abstain. As a parent, I worry about my sons growing up in this kind of culture.

....” it hardly seems worth it to get married”....

Oh but it is when you meet someone who sees marriage in the way that you do. There’s a lot of people today who don’t understand what commitment is to anything let alone within a marriage.

All who have been married know that that commitment also means to the marriage itself....not just the to the person. Because...there will be times the commitment to the marriage will carry both over the rough spots.

Find someone who “believes” in marriage itself. Who wants to be married with the ups and downs and will work with the one they love when things get rocky.

At least in my circle of friends and acquaintances, most men don’t mind women with a ‘past’ so long as 1) that past does not involve significant crazy and 2) it’s *past*. Long, long past.

Women tend to spend money on clothing the kids, making the house look nice, etc...most women are not collectors of expensive things.

Horse Hockey! Women are not collectors of "durable" things...I.e. Disposable. Nobody who has ever clothed a woman believes they don't collect expensive things. So after she's pissed away family assets on things that hold no lasting value, she gets to attack the assets he's collected because they're still worth something. That sounds about like the logic employed against men that they are rebelling against.

Not disagreeing. I just think it’s sad that these attractive, smart women one I know has great homemaking skills, they’re not fat and they’re fun. They are having a hard time finding a good guy. It’s not just the guys struggling to find a girl who’s not a crazy skank. It goes both ways. Very sad.

What does that even mean? There are very few used sofas that I would value at more than $50-$100; other than perhaps a leather version...which might be $200-$600 depending on condition. Used upholstered furniture is right up there with used mattresses on resale.

Here's a general rule of thumb for you: unless you have VERY high-end designer furniture, if you live in a normal-sized house the value of your household goods (furniture, clothing, plates, accessories, etc...other than antiques/collectibles) will be worth about $5000...total. Maybe a "bit" more if the wood/glass/metal furniture is nearly new.

I have to agree with your post......society has become far too focused on social issues and get along issues and much has to do with the “feel good” basic nature of woman who don’t understand that somethings men simply have a mind do better deal with when it comes to running a country and seeing the risks thereof.

[“with the ‘family’ court system being such a disaster for men”

How is that?]

Here is an example. The county where I live has a family court judge who always and I mean always finds in the favor of the woman in divorce cases. He himself is divorced. I know of three women who got divorced in his court and were then his girl friends. Another reason I hate lawyers and some judges.
