GOLETA, Calif. (AP) A man whose son was among the victims killed in a shooting rampage near a California university quaked with grief and rage Saturday as he described his "lost and broken" family and the proliferation of guns he believes led to his son's death.
"Our son Christopher and six others are dead," Richard Martinez told reporters gathered outside a sheriff's station for a news conference the day after the shootings near the University of California, Santa Barbara, where the 20-year-old son was a sophomore. "You don't think it'll happen to your child until it does."

What does the father of the STABBING victims have to say?
I’m sorry, but it wasn’t the gun. It was the godless maniac behind the gun.
Something tells me he's recognized early on in the aftermath of this incident that he has an opportunity to cash in on the grievance industry, and he's jumping on it.
Don’t intend to be harsh but my father was killed by a sat nite special during a holdup. He was ill prepared to confront violence as were these boys.
If this dad had taught his son to carry and use a gun he would likely be alive today and his assailant dead. The solution to gun crime is to arm the victim, not the criminal.
Mr. Martinez. Your dead son doesn’t trump my 2nd Amendment rights. Sorry for your tragic loss. Very heartbreaking.
And nothing about the real problem: the mentally ill.
The three men stabbed to death by Rodgers were his roommates in a “sheltered residence” apartment for the mentally ill. Supposedly he was supervised by therapists.
His parents and the therapists asked the police to check on him because he had been posting violent things on social media. The cops determined that he was ok...based on what? Are they psychiatrists? Plus they’re terrified of being sued if they order an involuntary committal, since the “mental health advocates” have made this practically impossible and a highly risky thing for the person or agency who orders it.
He bought the guns legally. If he was so ill as to have to live in a sheltered residence, why was there nothing in his record that would have enabled the gun dealer to see it when he checked the purchase? It’s not the dealer’s fault, or because the laws on guns aren’t strict enough.
It’s because there’s a problem on how to handle the mentally ill. Blaming “guns” is a convenient excuse.
A hateful Hollywood liberal rich kid kills similar. Any surprise maybe he went to Kerry’s global warming knew he was problem and fixed it.
I feel for his loss, and detect a shout-out to gun confiscation foundations to hire him for their cause.
As sympathetic as I can be for someone who has lost their child, I would still comment that this grief has become a tool of controllers of lives who have no intention of fulfilling ordinary peoples’ dreams or desires. their success in furthering their goals will have no impact, nor would have on his life.
He would be better served condemning the filth sh!thole that Hollywood and urban California has become with its inclusion, diversity, need for government to solve all problems, and a general disrespect for the rest of the citizens in this country.
It has created untold numbers of privileged asswipes of celebrity like the Kardashians, children of entertainment and media luminaries, and all their wannabe hangers on and former celebs whose entire pastimes seem to be pursuit of excess (see, Lohan, Reid, Beiber, Cyrus, et al). And when they don’t get it, they rebel in their own childish and deluded ways.
Good info from the Daily Mail
A soon as I heard about this I immediately concluded one thing, it was NOT the action of someone who actively and sincerely follows Jesus.
My next thought was....it was either a follower of Mohammad or an Insane Fanatic...but I repeat myself.
And let’s not forget the parents who spawned an entitled, spoiled brat. Classic enabling due to fear of upsetting their Golden Boy.
The families of the stabbing victims should be offended by their loved ones exclusion. You just know the MAIGfots and mom lookin’ for some “action” are already crankin’ their rhetoric filled screeds.

I pray for the man and his family. A tragedy. As to the gun control ramblings from this man, grief is talking, not common sense.
Should have added a language alert.
A car was used to run down a victim or victims. Should we ban cars too?
Liberal logic is nonexistent.
