Rep. Rangel calls tea party 'white crackers' (Where's the outrage?)

I love how the words just casually roll off his tongue, as if he had been saying them all his life.

Which he has. But there is no such thing as black racism, don't you know? Using a racial epithet to describe one's political opponents is accepted behavior. Or at least it must be because the only people saying anything about it are those on the right.

But even at 83, dressed in a blue bow tie and crisp gray suit, Rangel is relentless toward those who he feels are slowing the forces of progress.

House Republicans? Have done more damage to American competitiveness than al Qaeda ever could. "What is happening is sabotage. Terrorists couldn't do a better job than the Republicans are doing."

The Tea Party? Defeat them the same way segregation was beaten. "It is the same group we faced in the South with those white crackers and the dogs and the police. They didn't care about how they looked. It was just fierce indifference to human life that caused America to say enough is enough. 'I don't want to see it and I am not a part of it.' What the hell! If you have to bomb little kids and send dogs out against human beings, give me a break."

I was in a tourist section of Boston yesterday and as I walked along the waterfront there was a small group of males, likely all black (I took a quick glance), doing some sort of performance for nearly all-white onlookers. At one point, I heard a performer say something similar to “Come on white people, dance and show us blacks you have rhythm...” The white fools laughed. Imagine some whites going to a black area and saying something comparable (not dance-oriented) about blacks? I doubt the reaction would be the same. We have a notion of dolts.

Rangel has a history of racism against whites. One of his better ones:
In 2003, Rangel said a draft would make the military more representative of the American public at large, that "the poor, black and brown shouldn’t be the only Americans fighting and dying in Iraq", and that "Fairness dictates that the sons and daughters of the white middle and upper classes share the burden of war"

It was pointed out to Rangel that the large majority of those being killed and wounded in Iraq were those same sons and daughters of the white lower, middle and upper classes.

Your words are just cheap deflections of a guilty plantation owner telling his slaves they're better off and should fight to stay on the plantation.

Uh, no Charlie, those racists in the South were Democrats, that’s right, your party. The KKK was a sponsored by Southern Democrats. Bull Conner, one of the guys with the dogs and the fire hoses? Democrat. George Wallace, the king of segregation? Democrat. Every Southern Democrat voted against the 1964 and 1965 civil rights acts. Al Gore’s Dad filibustered it. Racism in the South was a Democrat party thing, a platform voted for and endorsed by Southern Democrats. You are a smart guy and you know all of this but lying is something you and your party are quite comfortable with these days. Your followers are ignorant of history, you are not. You are just a comfortable liar.

I belong to the Tea Party. Our only platform is the desire for smaller government. We are horrified at the fact that this current generation is ringing up trillion of dollars on a credit card that we are expecting our children to pay for. We don’t want to screw our children, that’s it, that’s all we bring. We left the Republican party because they were acting like Democrats which is to say they were more worried about themselves than the good of out country and the future of our children.
