we are not rich, yet we left california 7 years ago. Now in Idaho.
FWIW...you'll be competing will illegals for that variety of semi-skilled labor and well established businesses for work where a licensed professional is required. It's a right to work state, so you don't have to compete with unions, but they are present. Construction workers spend a lot of time doing something other than construction outside of Summer months. Road construction tasks are always going during good weather periods.
We have most of the decent amenities in the Pocatello area. Idaho Falls is decent too. Getting to food and fuel is easier in those places.
Many of my neighbors work at Idaho National Labs near Arco. That means catching a bus at 5:30 AM and returning to the bus stop at 5:30 PM M-F. 15-20 hours a week commuting to a decent paying job. In town jobs are restaurant, retail, "hospitality".
The rich may not leave but many of the middle class are. I have several friends who worked for the Sheriffs Deparment and the Marshalls office out of San Diego, when they retired they sold their houses and moved to Montana, Idaho and Arizona. They got out while the gittin was good before the housing crash. The bought or built houses equal to or better than the ones they sold and paid half to on third the price. Socked away a nice little nest egg in process.

Yes, it is nice there. I’m 2 hours south in Boise. Let me know when you are coming up. I’ve been here 10 years, moved from Chicago. Wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
Happy to say, my wife and I left California, and we sure don’t miss the high taxes and other nonsense!
France has out-cuckoo’s Johnny Depp... that is pretty dang bad.
Moved to Chubbuck from Bloomington, IL about 10 years ago myself. Wouldn’t return to IL if you paid me.
Note to all Califorians that wish to Immigrate to Texas...

OK, fine, then raise the taxes on the 47% to match the dollar amount taken from the so-called rich. Especially the illegals.
I wonder what Thomas Sowell (from Stanford) and folks at the Hoover Institute at Stanford think of this.
Apparently the researchers did not analyze well the demographics of those who have already fled Kalifornia for better economic chances.
Taxes. I thought it said “Texas” - but still, those rich folks won’t have any money left to be able to leave.
You’re off by a factor of 1,000 partner
Somebody remind me again where Oprah Winfrey has her permanent residence?
You owe me a new keyboard! LMAO!
Nope, add three more.

I don’t work with my hands. I push pencils and papers for a living but, in an emergency you want me for a partner.
I go all in, like I use to in Tulsa during floods, tornadoes, etc. literally would drive up to strangers and just start helping.
Bonus, I speak perfect engrish ...
