The U.S. economy produced another solid month of job gains in January, offering a hopeful sign for hiring in the year ahead.
Employers added a net 243,000 jobs last month, the Labor Department reported Friday. Thats higher than December, when employers added a net 200,000 jobs, and it marked the seventh straight month in which at least 100,000 jobs were created. That hasn't happened since 2005.
The nations unemployment rate fell to 8.3 percent in January from 8.5 percent in the prior month. The unemployment rate has fallen for the past five months and is now at its lowest level in nearly three years.

Is there anyone alive on our side who is willing to spout this in front of a camera what a lie this is? Anyone? Rush just nailed it that over 1,000,000 dropped out of the labor force in the last month...that is the seasonal adjustment. Sounds like the communist dictatorial adjustment to me. And the MSM local news just repeats it without any questioning...even Fox News Radio says what Obama wants them to. Sigh.
wrong groceries don’t count...
It’s bad here in the Midwest. Zero isn’t fooling anyone. The only things “up” around here are bank robberies, home invasions, stress, and unemployment.
It’s getting worse, not better.
Incorrect. There are two inflation measures, one that includes food and energy, and one that does not.
As I said, someone is lying.

Baby boomers are reaching retirement age. We aborted an entire generation of posterity. The number of people leaving the workforce by way of reirement is greater than the number of people entering it by leaving high school.
FWIW my commute time gets longer every week and is getting as bad as it was when Bush was president. Those people are driving somewhere.
Ha, oops! Brain malfunction! It’s times like these when I really want an FR edit option...
The number of people that we’re “counting” as unemployed just keeps dropping. As soon as everyone gives up looking for work we’ll be at zero percent unemployed.
The population is growing and there’s always the possibility that something is happening along the routes you drive in your area that isn’t translating elsewhere.
Nonetheless, the labor participation rate has gone steadily downhill under Obama. This past month is the lowest it has been since 1979. (see chart below)
63.7% means that 36.3% of the labor age population is not working. The population in 1979 was 225 million. It is about 310 million today.
The U6 (total unemployed) in California is 21.1, the second highest in the nation.

read all of this, we are about to end the corporation
” THE motive of our Founding Fathers was totally self-centered. It was their personal greed that inspired them to accept the task of writing the Constitution of the United States and not patriotism! In actuality, the United States is not a land or a place: It is a corporation, a legal fiction that existed well before the Revolutionary War. [See: Republica v. Sween, 1 Dallas 43 and 28 U. S. ..... that will also explain why Romney id their pick
Thanks. I’ll check out Bloomberg.
The frightening part of this is the Obama voters get their information from ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, and the Comedy Channel (Daily Show and Colbert Report). They will drink the kool-aid and vote for rats. If a few of the limp-wrist independents and RINOs go with them we have 4 more years of destruction and the end of the Republic.
Which makes me think - who will Mitt Romney vote for in November???
“The civilian labor force is now at a 30-year low of 63.7%.”

That is the actual relevant figure, what is the formula for determining that number.
I knew people (here in MA) who said, "I'm doing great! My neighbor is doing great! Even my lazy brother-in-law is doing great! But this sucky economy is the worst since Hoover -- I hear that a lot of people are hurting out there. We need to throw out the Republicans who are causing all this damage." Today, I think people are saying, "I'm scared. My neighbor just lost his house. My brother-in-law is homeless. I'm just glad the recovery is so strong -- I can't imagine how bad things would be if Obama weren't in there making things better. We need to keep the Democrats in power so that the economy stays on track." Back in 2007, when the economy seemed quite healthy (DJIA 14,000, unemployment below 5%, annual federal deficit $160B) the media claimed it was the worst economy since Hoover.
Nailed it...
I have a question. I know the figures are cooked by the MSM, but I just wondered how many of the no longer looking are of retirement age and have retired rather than continuing to look for work. There are lots of baby boomers out there that are starting to retire.
What we need is an American Spring march on the capitol...
early april should do it before taxes are due...
a march to throw tea bags at the whitehouse and congress.
i’m in. Anyone?

I don’t believe the administration’s numbers: they don’t
include people that have given up looking for work or people that are working part-time but would rather have full time.
