Massachusetts Principal Takes Aim at Fall Holidays, Says They're Insensitive

An elementary school principal in Massachusetts has banned fall holidays, saying theyre insensitive, MyFoxBoston reported Friday.
Somerville principal: Fall holidays are insensitive: MyFoxBOSTON.com
Anne Foley, the principal at Kennedy School in Somerville, Mass., sent an email to teachers warning them about celebrating Thanksgiving, the Boston Herald reported.
"When we were young we might have been able to claim ignorance of the atrocities that Christopher Columbus committed against the indigenous peoples," Kennedy School Principal Anne Foley wrote.
"We can no longer do so. For many of us and our students celebrating this particular person is an insult and a slight to the people he annihilated. On the same lines, we need to be careful around the Thanksgiving Day time as well."
Teachers have already been told not to let students dress up for Halloween.
Parents told MyFoxBoston that they felt the principal was overreacting.
My kids were brought up with Halloween and whatever have you. She has no right to tell these kids they cant have it, one woman told the station.
The children, they need to express themselves and be children. Dont take holidays and fun time away from them. They have so much homework. They dont have enough play time, another said.
Superintendant Tony Pierantozzi told The Herald that Halloween is problematic because of connections to witchcraft.
I dont think they should not be able to celebrate these holidays I mean this country was formed with the idea that everything is a free country, and they should be able to celebrate these holidays, a Somerville woman told MyFoxBoston.

There are those times when I’m sure the world has gone totally bezerk! This is one of those times........
>> “Christopher Columbus committed against the indigenous peoples,” Kennedy School Principal Anne Foley
Yeah, that hag has first-hand knowledge of what really occurred back then...
Save the USA, bust the Marxist grip on PE.
“When we were young we might have been able to claim ignorance of the atrocities that Christopher Columbus committed against the indigenous peoples,” Kennedy School Principal Anne Foley wrote.
I always confront liberals with this terrible proposition- what do they think would have happened if Genghis Khan or Tamerlane would have found their way to the Americas instead? Or, perhaps the gentle ministrations of someone like Selim the Grim? And most certainly, the “indigenous peoples” were not saints and killed each other. Powhatan, when John Smith inquired who lived in the region of Accomack on the far side of Chesapeake Bay, indicated no one lived there after he had them all killed. This crap about Columbus arriving here and destroying some sort of paradise is exactly that- crap.
I guess holy-days take away from the time to teach condom mastery to elementary school kids
Is that school going to be open for classes on Thanksgiving? At the very least hat clown ought to go to work that Thursday and Friday to attend to administrative matters.
Actually, CC never landed in the US............
I always refer people to the Aztecs and Mayans as examples of the peaceful Native Americans. It is ignorant to think that war and violence was an invention of Europe.
The crackpots are really coming out of the woodwork the last few years.
I agree...or maybe not. Somerville woman talks funny.
A fellow FReeper provided an unbelievable accounting of alleged atrocities perpetrated by indigenous tribes of Northern America. Unfortunately, I don’t have a link to the post.
Well this particularly crackpot is no doubt a product of earlier crackpottery.
If even today, we met the Mayans, and Aztecs,,,and watched their slavery and human sacrifice,,,, wouldn’t we do our best to wipe them out or replace their culture with ours? It seems like a moral imperative to wipe out such a culture.
Left untouched,,the Aztecs would AT BEST evolve into a culture like the Cartels, Muslims, or gangs in Brazil.
Why the reverence for such savages?
its’ Assachussettes- why so surprised?
From what I have read, the atrocities were demonic. There is a book by Peter Marshall/David Manuel, “The Light and the Glory” that spell it out pretty good.
