Here’s the long-form birth certificate, so birthers can get to work on explaining why we now need a photograph of President Obama’s parents standing in front of Kapiolani hospital with a copy of the August 4, 1961 edition of the Honolulu Star Advertiser in one hand and a complete genome in the other.
Here’s White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer’s full statement on the matter:
In 2008, in response to media inquiries, the President’s campaign requested his birth certificate from the state of Hawaii. The state sent the campaign the President’s birth certificate, the same legal documentation provided to all Hawaiians as proof of birth in state, and the campaign immediately posted it on the internet. That birth certificate can be seen here (PDF).
When any citizen born in Hawaii requests their birth certificate, they receive exactly what the President received. In fact, the document posted on the campaign website is what Hawaiians use to get a driver’s license from the state and the document recognized by the Federal Government and the courts for all legal purposes. That’s because it is the birth certificate. This is not and should not be an open question.
The President believed the distraction over his birth certificate wasn’t good for the country. It may have been good politics and good TV, but it was bad for the American people and distracting from the many challenges we face as a country. Therefore, the President directed his counsel to review the legal authority for seeking access to the long form certificate and to request on that basis that the Hawaii State Department of Health make an exception to release a copy of his long form birth certificate. They granted that exception in part because of the tremendous volume of requests they had been getting. President Barack Obama’s long form birth certificate can be seen here (PDF):
At a time of great consequence for this country – when we should be debating how we win the future, reduce our deficit, deal with high gas prices, and bring stability to the Middle East, Washington, DC, was once again distracted by a fake issue. The President’s hope is that with this step, we can move on to debating the bigger issues that matter to the American people and the future of the country.
And here’s the White House’s correspondence with the Hawaii State Department of Health.
What else is happening today? Donald Trump is going to New Hampshire.
Sorry, you are legally wrong on this issue. I don’t like it anymore than anyone else does, but someone is a “natural born citizen” if either (1) they were born here; or (2) both their parents were U.S. citizens when born. You simply don’t need both; it’s one or the other.
That’s what I wondered, too.
Mother is “Caucasian”
Father is “African”
Wouldn’t, in 1961, it be:
Mother....White
Father......Negro
I’m just asking what would have been used in 1961...
If what you say is true (1790 clarification), then why did Chester Arthur hide and lie about the fact that his father was not a U. S. citizen?
so she flew back from Kenya with a two day old baby to create this document.
You’ve convinced me.

Didn’t this guy read the BIG BOLD PRINT AT THE TOP OF THE DOCUMENT??
RE: Yes, if the form is real it merely proves he is not eligible to be president. Ironically, if it showed his father was Frank Davis the Marxist, it would show he was eligible.
As I said before, THE ISSUE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THIS HOW DO YOU DEFINE NATURAL BORN CITIZEN BY LAW?
Mant FReepers insist that we go by what they believe the Framers of the constitution understood the term, Natural Born to be, which they describes thusly:
1) BORN IN AMERICAN SOIL.
2) BORN OF TWO PARENTS WHO ARE *BOTH* AMERICAN CITIZENS AT THE TIME OF BIRTH.
IF the above definition is correct ( and that is in dispute ), then the Birth Certificates release only shows that Obama passed on requirement ( #1 above ).
His fathers citizenship at the time of his birth is now the question.
The sticking point is the ACCEPTED LEGAL AND CONSTITUTIONAL DEFINITION OF THE TERM —— NATURAL-BORN.
It's a photocopy. It was copied onto security paper, and then the copy was certified. The curl at the edge of the copy is because the original was bound into a volume, and was either copied or shot to microfilm/fiche from there. The length and weight are not present on contemporaneous birth certificates from Hawaii.
I tend to agree. The only problem is we have now opened the can of worms that will allow an anchor baby that waves the Mexican flag and can't speak English to become President. By not challenging the NBC portion of the BC, we are tacitly overriding the Constitution. We will, no doubt very soon be revisiting this with a baby with one parent not a citizen.
By concentrating of the location of birth, now to bring up the father's nationality will just be like turning the Titanic with a canoe oar. He will be easier to defeat by looking at what he is doing to the country than harping about a breech in Constitutional law. The breech in law will again haunt us later.
how does this one compare to the Nordyke twins?
Abstract in Merriam/Webster dictionary says:
1c - insufficiently factual
2 - expressing a quality apart from the original
4 - having only intrinsic form with little or no attempt at pictorial representation or narrative content.
They got Mom right, Caucasian.
The doctor’s name looks to me like David Sinclair....and what I found interesting is that there is a David Sinclair who was a Harvard Medical School professor. HMMMMMMM....and another question I have is why is Barack H. Obama listed as Obama II rather than Jr......is there another BHO, Jr. somewhere? II is entirely different than Jr.
The numbers are not sequential, nor should they necessarily be. The data for COLBs are keyed in from local gov’t offices in many different locations around a state. When the records were first computerized, the numbers were assigned after the data has been keyed in and the operator hit “Enter.”
There are many reasons why the numbers wouldn’t be sequential and in chronological order. Some offices were quicker than others about getting the data keyed in.

I guess they had a different Registrar on August 11th.

I agree. Although I think there is merit to questioning why he spent so much covering up almost EVERYTHING about his life, at the same time I think we just took a torpedo. This particular issue is done for. There isn’t enough there there to use the question of NBC to sink this guy. Too bad.
“Mark Levin is a constitutional lawyer and he isnt touching this. “
(page 246)
And the constitution itself contains a direct recognition of the subsisting common law principle, in the section which defines the qualification of the President. “No person except a natural bom citizen, or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of this constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President,” &c. The only standard which then existed, of a natural born citizen, was the rule of the common law, and no different standard has been adopted since. Suppose a person should be elected President who was native born, but of alien parents, could there be any reasonable doubt that he was eligible under the constitution? I think not.
(pg 250)
6. Upon principle, therefore, I can entertain no doubt, but that by the law of the United States, every person born within the dominions and allegiance of the United States States, whatever were the situation of his parents, is a natural born citizen.

As early as 1844, courts were deciding the evidence showed you could have alien parents and still be a natural born citizen. Levin knows this. Birthers do not.
