Here’s the long-form birth certificate, so birthers can get to work on explaining why we now need a photograph of President Obama’s parents standing in front of Kapiolani hospital with a copy of the August 4, 1961 edition of the Honolulu Star Advertiser  in one hand and a complete genome in the other.

Here’s White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer’s full statement on the matter:

In 2008, in response to media inquiries, the President’s campaign requested his birth certificate from the state of Hawaii. The state sent the campaign the President’s birth certificate, the same legal documentation provided to all Hawaiians as proof of birth in state, and the campaign immediately posted it on the internet. That birth certificate can be seen here (PDF).

When any citizen born in Hawaii requests their birth certificate, they receive exactly what the President received. In fact, the document posted on the campaign website is what Hawaiians use to get a driver’s license from the state and the document recognized by the Federal Government and the courts for all legal purposes. That’s because it is the birth certificate. This is not and should not be an open question.

The President believed the distraction over his birth certificate wasn’t good for the country. It may have been good politics and good TV, but it was bad for the American people and distracting from the many challenges we face as a country. Therefore, the President directed his counsel to review the legal authority for seeking access to the long form certificate and to request on that basis that the Hawaii State Department of Health make an exception to release a copy of his long form birth certificate. They granted that exception in part because of the tremendous volume of requests they had been getting. President Barack Obama’s long form birth certificate can be seen here (PDF):

At a time of great consequence for this country – when we should be debating how we win the future, reduce our deficit, deal with high gas prices, and bring stability to the Middle East, Washington, DC, was once again distracted by a fake issue.  The President’s hope is that with this step, we can move on to debating the bigger issues that matter to the American people and the future of the country.

Here is an e-mail I just sent to the author of this article:

Your article really does a disservice to the truth on this issue. Since the beginning of this issue the real question has been ignored. What is the legal definition of the term ‘natural born citizen’ in the Constitution? Can you have two foreign born parents (but be born in America) and still be President? Or one foreign parent? Or do you need to be born of two American citizen parents as has been the definition for most of country’s history and was so at the time of our Founding.

This question you will notice is never addressed by the MSM at all, nor by even many alternative media outlets as well. The birth certificate issue has been set up as a smoke screen in order to deflect from this, the real question that needs to be answered.

A lawyer in my state of New Jersey has tried to pursue this question legally but of course to no avail. It is an extremely important issue and should not be discarded or ridiculed. Here is his website explaining the issue:

We have today a democrat political party that has objectives to maintain open borders and grant amnesty to illegal’s entering this nation. This same political party would also like to eliminate the electoral college in order to have the mass population centers (cities) rule the voting process, and now also we have a movement on the left to do away the ‘natural born citizen’ requirement in the Constitution thus allowing someone with foreign allegiances to become President. This is a prescription for the demise of our nation.

If you care about this nation and the rule of law then I implore you to address the real issue involving Presidential eligibility under the Constitution.

It doesn't. The people who claim this stuff go back to Vattel and his "Law of Nations" which admittedly was consulted upon and known to the founders when they came up with the requirements for the Presidency. The term "Natural Born" comes from Vattel. He said that a Natural Born person was someone who was born in their country to parents who are citizen(s) (plural not singular).

However, these same founders went on to further define in the Naturalization act of 1790 (notice that is the very first Congress) what a Natural Born Citizen is. We don't need to consult Vattel. The Founders defined it legislatively. In that act, it said any person (it was white person at the time, later laws included everyone) born in the United States is "Natural Born". There were other exceptions also such as born outside the U.S. to American citizens, but the first one is the only one we need to know in regards to shooting down this argument birthers make.

Why would they wait a few days? The other (Nordyke Twins) birth certificate were issued the same day they were born. Why change policy for Obama?

This appears to be a certified photocopy (created two days ago) of an original COLB, and as such, is a legal document. Did people really expect that they would be presented with the actual file document? It's real. The shadowing around the letters is not due to subterfuge but to the fact that it is simply a photocopy of an original document. Look at Donald Trump's certificate - it's not an "original", either, but an old photostat (negative image) of the original.

Can we finally admit that Obama's political operation has been using this nonsense as a means of making his adversaries look paranoid, and that fact, rather than anything secret about his birth, is what he has been "hiding" all this time?

I recently requested a copy of my own BC in California.

The request form asked for all kinds of relevant info.

The form had to be notarized by a notary and a $20 fee.

What the county sent me looks like what is posted here.

It is labeled COLB and is on an 8.5x11 form and had no signatures.

It looks nothing like the BC that I misplaced.

That BC was about 6x6 and looked like a negative
white lettering on black with white showing at the edges.

It looked as if produced thru a photographic process.

These COLB's are transcribed, therefore easily manipulated.

Whether this is a forgery or not, I have no idea. Until someone can provide proof on that one way or another, I would not even deem to speculate. But there is one thing you cannot say. That is that this is the same form. It clearly is not. When you look at both forms, no objective person can say they are the same. As for it saying Certificate of Live Birth at the top, that may be what Hawaii's long form birth certificate says. I have no idea since I was not born in Hawaii and neither were my kids.

How do you know what a Hawaii long form birth certificate looks like? Were you or your kids born in Hawaii that you are in possession of one?

You are right, the paper is all wrong, it’s much too contemporary. I know Hawaii is a little different, but didn’t they weigh and measure babies in 1961? And to follow the question of another on this thread, what about the other COLB that we’ve been told is the real deal for so long, is it now just a “mistake” like so many things about this administration? Why is everything about this guy so weird? I just get tired thinking about everything we don’t know.

Who cares? Do you think this document was created in 2006 when he was a Senator and thinking about being President? What exactly are you alleging here?

It is clearly different from the first form he released in 2008. How do you know what a long form birth certificate from Hawaii looks like? Perhaps they say "Certificate of Live Birth" at the top.

Is this list what was law at the time of BO’s birth? If so, this seems to be settled.

Amongst questions I always had against the birth certificate issue is why the hell his mom would have even been in Kenya at her age late in a pregnancy. Certainly it would be possible, it does seem to be a logical time to travel to a far away country.

I’ve always felt there is one of two scenarios here. Either there was a major fabrication in his biography that he was hiding, or that he was playing a political game. If it is the later, than kudos to Trump for drawing this out now when it is of no political impact. If it is the first scenario, then this is another fake, but at this point, our side should either come up with irrefutable proof or move on to the real issues we can win on 2012.
