I don’t know. I’m trying to catch up.

I’m very pessimistic, but I’m also short on facts right now.

>> And Gibbs doesn’t grasp that at all.<<

Oh yes he does. What do you think this is about? The WH wants Mubarak out and the MB in.

PressTV continues to report...

Obama has not spoken with Mubarek.

Internet and social media and cell phones still shut down in Cairo.

Protests taking place in London outside Egyptian Embassy. Embassy has been evacuated.

Protests taking place in capital of Jordan organized by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Anti-Governmrnt protests taking place in Albania.

Protests taking place in Yemen.

Robert Gibbs refused to support Mubarek. Quoted as saying “This is not about picking a person”.

Tony Blair has said whatever change takes place in Egypt, it must be stable.

No one knows which way the Egyptian Military will lean. The Army is different from the Intelligence Services and the Security Services. The latter will lean towards Mubarek. The former *may* lean to the protesters.

Military has opened fire in Cairo and Suez. Unclear if rubber or real bullets.

870 in Medical facilities some with bullet wounds.

Military has been instructed to disperse protesters.

What is the truth? I have read both now. Is the military, or are the protestors, protecting the treasures at the Museum??

Both. But just where are they standing in regard to the loot? In front of the Museum or next to the broken cases with loot in hand?

When our nation is falling apart, Islam is gaining power, our international prestige has been squandered, Iran is ready to nuke Israel, and our soldiers are not being given the chance to win two wars...

I don't give a d@mn about Egyptian treasures.

Smogger, each nation has it’s own set of problems to deal with. Perhaps Tunisia was more unstable than Egypt. I still wouldn’t leave a tool up that would allow protesters to organize and make plans with. I wouldn’t leave a tool up to network with people outside my borders that could be directing events either.

I appreciate your differing point of view on the topic. Take care...

A few years back, I went down to Hollywood. There I observed the A.N.S.W.E.R. hoards as they passed by my location.

...the march lasted for over half an hour.

You've got a stronger constitution than I've got.

I'd have been on the horn to the Air Force trying to arrange a NAPALM download.

Turning off the Internet here in the states would be akin to throwing dynamite into the fire.

it seems the same was true in Eygpt.

Smogger, if the A.N.S.W.E.R. people were trying to arrange an overthrow of our government, I’d not only understand the government taking the internet down, I’d demand they do it.

When someone is going nuclear, dynamite is the lesser evil.

I know you are seriously hopeful and I do not wish for a bad outcome.

I think we should see the hand of the Divine in this only in the same manner as when God goes with us should we visit a back alley game of dice. He is certainly our salvation, but he isn’t in the numbers and the outcome.

My BS meter is engaged, and I’ve noticed during crisis situations like this that CNN tends to stick to reporting the events. There are no spinners up right now. Just editors and correspondents on the ground.

The reporting is head, shoulders, and hips above Fox right now. Shep Smith was simply gag worthy. I had to change the channel. He compared the situation to the Berlin Wall falling, and then couldn’t get the population of Egypt right. It’s like he’s getting off on all of this.

In fact CNN just broke that Egypts ‘joint chiefs’ were in DC today, and even pointed out the irony of it. They are critical of the WH, and are questioning why Obama hasn’t tried to coordinate a response with other EU heads of state, Russians, or Chinese.

I’m a little surprised at how good. At 1:27 PM Pacific I’m watching curbside coverage of the ruling party headquarters completely destroyed, with fires still burning up and down the street.

It’s amazing that they are able to get the video out of the country given all comms are down. I’m impressed.

I was actually in Cairo a couple of years ago, before our 2010 primary elections were settled, talking to a regular “man in the street” who was absolutely in love with Hillary.

I bit my tongue and instead of arguing American politics with him, just shook my head about the foolishness of those in power in government in both our countries.

I think that line of conversation made him very, very nervous.
