Vanity: Fox News Panelist Liz Trotta Agrees With Karl Rove: Palin's Alaska Is Unpresidential

Posted on 11/13/2010 12:38:19 PM PST by Retired Intelligence Officer

I was appalled at Liz Trotta and 3 other conservative guest panelist (that I couldn't name) on this afternoons Fox newswatch hosted by Jon Scott all agreed that Palins new reality show, Sarah Palin's Alaska on the Discovery Channel was very unpresidential and it would sink her any chances for the White House.

The topic was that liberal advocacy groups were asking for the Discovery Channel to pull the plug on it. The consevative commentator Liz Trotta then said that she agreed with Karl Rove that this was a bad move for Palin. Trotta then goes on to take a pop shot at Palin saying "everytime this woman opens her mouth that her numbers go down". She then said "the more she speaks that she makes people simply not like her". Jon Scott did not ask Trotta why this was just like yesterday when Megyn Kelly didn't ask Meghan McCain why she thought Palin would be best as a reality star.

My question is why is Fox news who hired Sarah Palin allowing conservative guest freely without explanation to back up their facts to trash her and her message in a public forum? Why are they allowing people to tarnish her reputation as well as her new TV program which they advertize during commercial time? Something smells

You’re almost clintonian in your defense now. What she did doesn’t matter, right?

Quitting implies that she had no replacement. She had a Lt Gov who assumed command. How is that quitting on her state?

Call me what you will, but she did quit and that’s a *potentially* fatal move no matter the reason. I’ve been told that she had to over and over. I disagree.

Yeah, it has really hurt her. That's why she has not given any speeches, affected Obama's policies, and all her endorsements turned to snot right?

A LOSING Vice-presidential candidate who RESIGNED from her job is among one of the top contenders for the Presidency. Put that in your crack pipe and smoke it.

Pay attention, the Chosen One for the 2012 election is the lil’ ol’ gov’ner of Mississippi — Haley Barbour. You heard it here first!

Nope, it’s Rick Perry of Texas.

Not that any Texans are happy with that, but it is what it is.

08 was a pretty big election, and she lost.

NO, the scumbag at the top of the ticket lost because he was too chicken to call Obama out and locked Sarah up in the room when she wanted to.

Rove and Trotta are entitled to their opinion. I don't really care if they voice them. I'm more concerned that liberals are trying to censor palin's show.

But she's a dumb bimbo anyway. She can't run a state. Why are you and the rest of the Palin critics whining that she quit then?

there go the Media again, telling us what we should think, instead of giving us the facts....

I am a longtime supporter of SarahPac. Having said that, she is not a perfect candidate, but she is a darn good one. Conservatives in general would do better to criticize the Libs/Marxists and be positive about potential candidates they have; reagan’s 11th commandment and all. If Sarah is so bad, it will be obvious for all to see in iowa, NH, SC, but it is really disturbing to once again media tell us what to think.

Media should give us candidate’s positions, record of governance, history of integrity or lack thereof, and qualifications, and debates.

The positive reasons I like Sarah palin:
1. i agree with 75-80% of her positions, i.e., i am a conservative
2. She had a good record as AK governor
3. She has a spine of steel and has been thoroughly vetted and with no skeletons in her closet, she will not be a squish or a sell-out, i.e. deteriorate to 25-50% conservative once elected.
4. Qualifications-here admittedly her resume is just a little thin compared to some of the others, but on #3 she far outstrips anyone else, and this will enable her to stay true to #1, which is the most important.
5. Debates- havent happened yet, but this is where Sarah will win over the moderates and Independents. Debates are a sign of some basic knowledge of the nation’s problems and its options.

SHE is the conservative we can TRUST to stay CONSERVATIVE and HONEST. There may be another one out there but is DeMint running? Pence?

What exactly does it mean to be ‘Presidential’? To me it’s very simple. To be Presidential one has to have first and foremost humility and respect for the office, neither of which the current occupant seems to have. You don’t have to be a genius to be President. You have to have your heart in the right place, know how to delegate, and be able to put country before self. There is no ‘formula’ for being presidential. John Edwards ran. Is he ‘Presidential’? It’s a joke to bring this up as a criterion.

Watching the show or not is your choice. I am going to watch it because I have never visited Alaska before so for me is the next best thing. You can have your own show and still be President, that doesn’t mean anything. I don’t consider her show “A reality show” I think you might be pleasantly surprised if you see it, but if you don’t that’s your choice. Check out this site

Sit down, your gonna be in for the shock of your life, and NO, I’m NOT comparing her to Ronald Reagan, but his life shows that someone who was in the Entertainment industry CAN be a successful President. I think of Reagan as the best President we ever had

Sarah has given maybe 150 speeches, flown 250,000 miles, written 2 books, been on Foxnews, filmed a documentary on Alaska, and been very active in 2010 politics as well as other community events, almost none of which would have happended except she resigned. She is still a mother to 5 children.

LOL, she has hardly quit on the American people. What a load of BS you try to sell on FR. She didnt go back to wasilla for 18 months nurse her hurt feelings and bake cookies.

Mr T, think up a new variation of the quitter meme because if i can debunk it this easily, it will go nowhere in a primary.

Perhaps. Then again, maybe they would forget all about it if he laid out some serious wisdom in that accent.

That is a possible scenario.

If I remember correctly, Haley was very quick on his feet whenever he was interviewed as RNC Chair.

It always appeared to me that he gave many a snotty presstitute a verbal "wedgie", correcting the presstitute's error/lie, while using that smooth southern voice, smiling all the time.

Another thing he would do is after verbally "whuppin" them, he would smile and linger a moment, looking at them, appearing to be saying: "Are you done, or do you need some more 'correcting'?" Then he would point to the next presstitute, inviting them to step right on up.

Of course, Haley will carry the baggage of his lobbyist activities with him if he should decide to run. That should be offset quite a bit by his Governor's experience, and in that vein, his post-Katrina Governor's actions.

I would certainly say that Haley knows the ins and outs of the Federal Government, and that is an asset.

At the same time, I am unsure if he would be willing to make the very difficult decisions necessary to clean out the Socialists/Communists embedded throughout the Federal Government, and turn this country back towards less taxes and smaller government.

Perhaps if he had a sufficient majority of Conservatives in both houses of Congress, he would.

He is another possible candidate I will watch with interest as we move towards 2012.

"Were you serious about Palin or bust? I really want to know.

I think she’s disqualified herself through her actions since being governor. I said I’d vote for her if she’s nominated. Would I vote for in the primary? Maybe, it depends on the situation."

Time for the truth squad!! If Sarah chooses to run- she is my first choice. If she chooses not to - then my choice is the truest Conservative running.

There is no way in hell I will ever vote for an old guard republican choice who is hailed as much better than a RAT.

That's yesterday's story & I swear I will never again pull the lever for a Dole or McCain RINO ever again in my life.

Rubio will be dragged onto the ticket to grab the Latino vote. He may need to prove his bona fides as VP.

You really think they’ll go back to Texas for their choice?

I guess the real point is we (traditional Constitutional Conservatives) have to make sure that a real Conservative is nominated. One thing I may have learned is that if we lose, even to an obnoxious loser like BO, we gain because he’s so toxic he wakes up the country.

On the other hand, we cannot be strangled by a RINO, a pawn like the last two Republican presidents. I don’t know if the nation would survive.

I said she’s politically toxic, which she is

You betcha she is!

She's pretty smart, eh?

She---along with the TPM and Constitutional Republic supporters are POISON to Politics as Usual (PU).

That is why Rove, Ginrich, Romney, Huckabee, Steele, the O'GOP (Old GOP), Olbermann, Maddow, Matthews, ABCCBSNBCMCNBC and the DNC are scared to death of her and will do anything to attempt to destroy her.

As you are attempting to do here at FR, kid.

Rebellion is Brewing!

Well actually, it's brewed and being served. Don't burn your lips!

Do you think her record was comparable to Obama during the election when it pertained to executive experience?

I've watched you attempt to nail this poster's foot to the floor without success. I suspect that it's because you can't nail a Troll's foot to the floor and get a legitimate question answered, because they're doing the standard Troll "dodge, weave, and change the subject". So, good luck, but I suspect the Kitties will get him/her long before you will ever be successful in your endeavors.

One comment I have about your post though, is that you are comparing Gov. Palin with Obama (a common statement here on FR), concerning qualifications for President.

I would argue that such a comparison is not relevant to real Conservatives in a discussion about possible Presidential Candidates. Sort of an Apples and Oranges thing.

Conservatives already know that Obama is a useless, incompetent, unqualified individual, who has been ushered into the Presidency by means that would make a Snake Oil Salesman proud.

Conservative to Conservative arguments about Presidential qualifications should be comparing Gov. Palin against other possible Conservative candidates, and against what Conservatives would desire the next President to tackle and accomplish while President.

No intent to attack you in any way, just my 2 cents.

Palin did not lose. McCain lost. It’s no wonder he lost from what we know now from the book George Bush wrote, McLame did not have the will to run against Obama.

But you did just say you “won” that “big election” in 08. So you’re an Obama supporter?

I didn’t say Sarah is the TEA party, but she and possibly Jim DeMint, most closely embrace the ideals held by the TEA parties. DeMint says he’s not running. Sarah says she will if no other conservative steps up to the plate. One of those two will get the TEA party support. The only one who has said she would run is Sarah.

Only DeMint and Palin have supported the TEA parties from early on. The other spineless potential candidates have been hiding and playing wait and see.
