Come 2012, Palin must not let Romneycare, Pawlenty, Gingrich-scozzafava, and ultimately Obama get away with the "you're a quitter" mantra--especially Obama, who essentially quit his barely 2 year term in the Senate before it even started so he can run for President.
It's not about the time one serves in office, but what one accomplishes IN THAT TIME.
As governor, Palin accomplished more in two years than most governors do in 4 to 8-- and she didn't leave her state in debt or with a failed universal healthcare system like Romney did! In the 2012 primaries, she needs to have confidence that what she achieved for her state surpasses what her opponents had for theirs.
While out of office, Palin has accomplished more than the others combined. The Tea Party movement would have never taken off the way it had without her presence. Several contested primaries would have gone hopelessly awry without her crucial endorsements, and the healthcare bill would have passed a lot sooner and been worse without her "death panels" comment.
Most importantly: she's the only one brave enough to speak out on highly contentious issues (such as calling Gore out on "Climategate.") She has been the most articulate and effective in exposing and criticizing the Obama Admin for the direction they are taking this country. She was the highest profile leader to be the first to take the risk in endorsing anti-establishment, underdog candidates such as Doug Hoffman in the NY-23. Showing that above all, she is willing to challenge the GOP establishment-machine, while her fellow GOP contenders rely on it or kiss up to it, or are a part of it.
Not to mention, Palin has never "quit" on taking firm stances on the most important core issues, especially abortion, while her fellow contenders are major flip floppers. (I wonder if Romney will claim to be pro-life and if greenie Gingrich will now admit manmade global warming is untrue.)
Be sure and play that up in the primaries, I'm sure all those people in Alaska who voted for her would love to hear that.
You don’t understand ST, Palin’s “breakout” manuever eliminated any chance for higher office. She knows it, we know it, why don’t you?
Well, Bob, if you don’t like it, then you are more than welcome to vote for Obama when the time comes in 2012.
Palin 2012 - Vote for her, shes just like Custer!
LOL ... I think you're "big gripe" here -- is that Palin is not dead, like Custer ... :-)
Instead of ceasing breathing, like so many Anti-Palinistas so despereately want -- she's "breathing fire" and kicking liberal butt all over the place ...
Excuse me but McCain is a Maverick...OPPPs.. that's out...No he is a reformer...No that gone too... he is a ‘Common-Sense-Conservative’, that is it a CSC. How can you argue with that?? Common Sense means his positions change directions with the wind.
Palin 2012 - “Vote for Palin because she is from an obscure and out of the way place!”
the way you stalk Palin threads.
I’m not seeing any of your images in your profile. Do you have them disabled?
How can you expect anyone to make a snap-judgement of you based on appearances, without visuals?
Laugh all you want you mindless harpie. If Hitler were running agains Mao in an election, which one would you vote for ace?
On policy after policy after policy, John McCain agreed with Barack Hussein Obama. Or didn’t you know that either?
I’ll be voting for whomever is running against Obama, assuming he is the nominee. But I doubt that will be Palin and if it is I have valid concerns that we will win that one.
My comments against a Palin campaign have everything to do with successfully winning back the WH in 2012.
Well, good luck on that one because it’s going to be Palin at the head of the GOP ticket and no one else.
You just dont get it. We all love the stuff she has done, we just dont believe she is electable and more importantly that has has what it takes to be president.
It appears to me, that the situation is more like -- the Anti-Palinistas "don't want her to be elected" -- so they're doing all they can to prevent it ... :-)
But, on the other hand, the average American who sees that Palin is a normal person like the rest of them, holding to their same values (the ones we find in "fly-over America") and not with the liberal-leftist mindset we see so much of -- they are enthused about having someone like that in the Whitehouse.
The "basis" for her values and her conservative position on many issues, coming from her Biblical "worldview" is the main thing that is offensive to the Anti-Religious right crowd that infest Free Republic in various threads and hidden corners (the ones who say that God and the Bible don't belong in the GOP or in elections or in public policy of this country).
The only problem there -- is that the vast and overwhelming majority of normal and average Americans who live sane and useful lives in this country -- don't go along with the idea of "kicking God out of politics" and all things having to do with governing in this country.
There's the "big rub" for the Anti-Palinistas, at least a certain segment of them.
So are you saying we might as well not vote?
I like what she is doing, except the McCain stuff. Poking fun at Obama and such, sticking up for Arizona. I loved the "We are all Arizona-ians" line.
I do see many enraged here about McCain, really enraged. The anti-Mccain-istas are called PDSers which doesnt seem to be intimidating them at all. I hate McCain (always did) but just see it as standard politics so did not get upset.
Where do the Palinistas fit on on that 'smart' chart you have there?
On policy after policy after policy, John McCain agreed with Barack Hussein Obama. Or didnt you know that either?
So you agree with those on Free Republic who are happy that they didn't vote for McCain in the Presidential election so that Obama could win ... hoo-boy! ... what a deal!
Thanks for outing yourself and validating my tagline.
It’s only his title that changes with the sun come up.
One day he claims he’s a conservative. All the others he claims to be one of the titles you mentioned.
His policy is still the same. He still lies every which way from Sunday. And he still wins the hearts and minds of weak people.
Who do you want to stand beside, J.D. Haworth and the people who have supported the same polices he has over the last few decades or John McCain, George Soros, John Kerry, Terresa Heinz Kerry, The Tides Foundation, Teddy Kennedy, Russel Fiengold, Juan Hernandez, Bawney Frank, Vietnam, illegal immigrants, and Sarah Palin?
This is rather a sobering question for most people who think they are Conservatives.
For others it’s a cause celeb to be counted among McCain’s circle of fiends.
This shouldn’t be all that hard a question should it.
But then one person stepped in claiming to be something they weren’t, and split this cause right down the middle.
Now half of Conservatism swears an allegiance to McCain and his fellow travelers. Nice going Sarah. If you were half the vision for good you thought you were, you’d go home and let this party heal around solid Conservatives.
Misguided intentions, the death of Conservatism.
Well, at least some people still have twisted infatuation to comfort them.
Which one space cadet? Hitler or Mao? Come on, you can figure this one out. You claim to be standing tall, tell us which one you would vote for ace.
I do see many enraged here about McCain, really enraged. The anti-Mccain-istas are called PDSers which doesnt seem to be intimidating them at all. I hate McCain (always did) but just see it as standard politics so did not get upset.
Those who are enraged need to "get a clue" about "politics" ... and how things work in the Senate and the House of Representatives ... :-)
It's those who are "enraged" who probably are the ones that I've heard from, on Free Republic to me, saying that they are glad that they didn't vote for McCain in the Presidential election -- thereby helping those others "get Obama elected" ... yeah that sounds "real smart" to me ...
Where do the Palinistas fit on on that 'smart' chart you have there?
Well, I see the supporters of Sarah Palin doing so for many different reasons, but I suspect that a few of the main reasons is that she's shown that she has good political instincts, she can "hold her own" in a political battle, she knows how to fight the political battle and where to "set up" to "hold ground" and where to "give ground" on, she knows how to "win", she wants to win, and she has the same faith-based values that the average American has, coming from a Bible-based worldview.
AND..., I've noticed that a certain segment of those Anti-Palinistas are in "that camp" that I've encountered here on Free Republic before, who say that the Religious Right should keep their Biblical ideas and values out of government and out of any consideration of candidates and that these kinds of voters (the same kind that are for Palin, by the way) "are the problem" that the GOP has with winning elections ...
You've got that segment in the Anti-Palinistas ... for sure ... no matter how much they try to disguise their disdain for this kind of voter who has those same values and Biblical-based worldview as Palin has.
I was just reading this ST!
Obama Official: Netanyahu Waiting for President Palin
The Netanyahu governments attitude to the United States shows it is waiting for President [Sarah] Palin, an Obama official reportedly told Peter Beinart, writing for the Atlantic Monthly news site. Palin was the Republican candidate for vice president two years ago and is considered a front-running candidate for the next presidential election in 2012.
