Noah's Ark found in Turkey
THE SUN ^ | TODAY | STAFF REPORTER

Posted on 04/27/2010 8:28:30 AM PDT by evets

The remains of Noah's Ark have been discovered 13,000ft up a Turkish mountain, it has been claimed.

A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers say they have found wooden remains on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey.

They claim carbon dating proves the relics are 4,800 years old — around the same time the ark was said to be afloat.

Yeung Wing-Cheung, from the Noah's Ark Ministries International research team, said: "It's not 100 per cent that it is Noah's Ark, but we think it is 99.9 per cent that this is it."

He said the structure contained several compartments, some with wooden beams, that they believe were used to house animals.

The group of evangelical archaeologists ruled out an established human settlement on the grounds none have ever been found above 11,000ft in the vicinity, Yeung said.

Local Turkish officials will ask the central government in Ankara to apply for UNESCO World Heritage status so the site can be protected while a major archaeological dig is conducted.

The biblical story says that God decided to flood the Earth after seeing how corrupt it was.

He then told Noah to build an ark and fill it with two of every animal species.

After the flood waters receded, the Bible says, the ark came to rest on a mountain.

Many believe that Mount Ararat, the highest point in the region, is where the ark and her inhabitants ran aground.

It actually had to be HIGHER than 13,000 feet since other mountains are much taller. If you integrate the volume from today’s sea level to 29,000 feet (Mt. Everest) you find the water would be about an order of magnitude MORE than all the water on the Earth today (in ice, liquid, or vapor form). A lot of water must have gone somewhere...

the quest for Noah’s Ark is hundreds of more times compelling than actually finding it.

Forgot to add notes to the flood story of Miao’s

Notes:

1.The Miao say that on the bottom of the bottom of the earth is a land of dwarfs.

2.Note the similarity of some of these names to those in the Bible account: Seth, Lamech, Noah, Ham, Shem, and Japheth.

3.Note the similarity:
•Ham’s descendants: Bible Cush, Mizram; Miao Cusah, Mesay
•Shem’s descendants: Bible Elam, Asshur; Miao Elan, Nga shur

4.The literal translation here is: “They parted went live encircle world ball.” The Miao know nothing of the world being round, so this passage seems to indicate the perfect knowledge of the original man - Devolution instead of Evolution.

5.From this we see that they trace their ancestry from Japheth and Gomer, which makes them of the Indo-European stock

You were saying ...

The problem here is "EVANGELICAL" explorers....hardly a scientific and unbiased team to be sure.

I suppose you would prefer atheist explorers and Marxist/liberal explorers ... right?

Ummmm.., on the other hand, I think it was the atheists and the Marxist/liberals that got us into big trouble in this country... you might want to "rethink" that one ... LOL ...

As I’ve written before here, there is perhaps 5 times more water within the earth’s mantle than in all the oceans on the surface. That is PLENTY of water to flood the highest mountain, should it for some reason erupt to the surface for a season.

"Hmmm..., it sounds like Twain (and several others here) don’t know too much about the Millennial Kingdom"

That's for sure, but the Millenium isn't even the blink of an eye compared to eternity.
In Eternity you could spend ten billion years with every one of the Redeemed,
and still have eternity left to do it again ten billion more times, and still have eternity left...

That was one of the things that "tickled" me about Darwin.
What a fool!
He had no concept whatsoever of an infinite, omnipotent God.
Silly little speck of dirt endowed with a spirit capable of communing with his Creator,
and denying the One who created him.

The carbon dating that puts it at 2800 B.C. is what impresses me. That dating is spot on biblically.

You'll find good answers in the following websites about that. It has to do with the geology and make-up of the earth before the world-wide flood and the dramatic changes that happens during the time it came about, and the vast and tectonic changes that happened immediately afterwards...

It was catastrophism to the "nth degree" -- if you will ...

Let's say with have Monks who want to withdraw from civilization, and they built a monastery there.... Can you cultivate food that high to sustain your life ?

There are entire towns and cities located at higher altitude, in South America and Tibet. In fact, consider Ganden Monastery located at 14,000 feet. And nearby Nam Tso (a lake), located at 15,500 feet and an area of nearly 800 square MILES.

High altitude living occurs, and has occurred for thousands of years. Consider Lhasa, in Tibet - at 12,000 feet altitude, and a million people. It's been continuously inhabited for at least 3,000 years.

We witnessed a great tsunami a few years back. We have the addition of instant news transmittal. And folks still get excited when they see a rainbow.

Again and again, we go back to search for the truth and it defies us.

Had the ark been so important back then as the Noah story purports, we'd find manuscript after manuscript of the event. Does that exist??

True enough... but I usually like to comment on the Millennial Kingdom here on earth that is going to soon be set up, as that's coming right around the corner -- plus we have a whole lot more information about it, from the Bible, than we do in terms of "eternity"...

At this point, I can "put a handle" on the Millennial Kingdom from the ample descriptions given (in the Bible) -- but it's more difficult for me to put a "tangible handle" on "eternity" ... so I'll wait until after the Millennial Kingdom is completed before I start envisioning eternity.

Besides, during the Millennial Kingdom, here on earth, I'll already have my immortal body, which will give me a greater understanding of what is yet to come (as compared to my understanding right now) -- while those others, who made it through the Tribulation, in their mortal bodies, will be building homes and raising families, still -- just as we do today.

Thus, what you're saying is not wrong, but I just don't concentrate on that aspect of it, while we've still got the Millennial Kingdom, here on earth, still in front of us... if you see what I mean ... :-)
