Early draft of the Constitution found in Phila.

Researcher Lorianne Updike Toler was intrigued by the centuries-old document at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.

On the back of a treasured draft of the U.S. Constitution was a truncated version of the same document, starting with the familiar words: "We The People. . . ."

They had been scribbled upside down by one of the Constitution's framers, James Wilson, in the summer of 1787. The cursive continued, then abruptly stopped, as if pages were missing.

I agree, that is cool! Its almost as if the founders are rising from their graves and saying, “READ THIS!”

God works in mysterious ways, maybe this is a reminder to the American people, kind of like a wake up call!

Well, I believe the Virginia draft opened with “We, the States, in order to . . . “

And there is something not quite right about that, although it was completely true. It was the representatives of the States that had come together to consider amendments to the Articles of Confederation.

A Democrat reading this article will be reminded that he forgot to purchase toilet paper during his/her last shopping excursion.

>> what do you want to bet that they next announce this “original draft” specified health care as a right, said that corporations are not people, and that “well regulated militia” means the National Guard? <<

If it does make sure to check to see if the font is something that can be found in MS-Word.

"Early draft of the Constitution found in Phila"

Very interesting indeed. Would love to read that draft.

From the article:
"Toler said "The Continuation of the Scheme," including its provisions about the executive and judiciary branches, completes that draft, making it a third."

Would be interesting if Mr. Wilson had made notes as to the NBC requirement.

Also from the article:
"Wilson, who lived in Philadelphia, was selected July 24, 1787, with four other members of the Constitutional Convention to serve on the Committee of Detail.

The committee - which also had John Rutledge, Edmund Randolph, Nathaniel Gorham, and Oliver Ellsworth - used 28 resolutions passed by members of the convention to flesh out the Constitution."

In their original drafts, the POTUS eligibility requirment first emerged as "Citizen" (only) but was later changed to "Natural Born Citizen."

June 18th, 1787 - Alexander Hamilton suggests that the requirement be added, as: "No person shall be eligible to the office of President of the United States unless he be now a Citizen of one of the States, or hereafter be born a Citizen of the United States."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_born_citizen_of_the_United_States

July 25, 1787 (~5 weeks later) - John Jay writes a letter to General Washington (president of the Constitutional Convention): "Permit me to hint, whether it would be wise and seasonable to provide a strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government; and to declare expressly that the Commander in Chief of the American army shall not be given to nor devolve on, any but a natural born Citizen." [the word born is underlined in Jay's letter.]

September 4th, 1787 (~6 weeks after Jay's letter) - The "Natural Born Citizen" requirement is now found in their drafts.

Did they find the abortion clause and the right of privacy clause????

Was there a magic president clause in there? Where a magic president can hide his place of birth?

Was it living and breathing when they found it??
