Researcher Lorianne Updike Toler was intrigued by the centuries-old document at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.

On the back of a treasured draft of the U.S. Constitution was a truncated version of the same document, starting with the familiar words: "We The People. . . ."

They had been scribbled upside down by one of the Constitution's framers, James Wilson, in the summer of 1787. The cursive continued, then abruptly stopped, as if pages were missing.

Another draft has been found of the Constitution. It's like something out of a "National Treasure" movie, only this one is real. Its written in the hand of James Wilson, one of the original founders, and this draft was part of the Committee on Detail's work.

I read this and the hair on the back of my arms stood up.... this is SO cool!

200 years from now, some enterprising researcher might uncover the rough drafts of Obama’s birth certificate.

"This was national scripture, a piece of our Constitution's history," she said of her find in November. "It was difficult to keep my hands from trembling."

As other researchers "realized what was happening, there was a sort of hushed awe that settled over the reading room," Toler said. "One of them said the hair on her arms stood on end."

I find it inspiring that people still feel this way. May we always.

I sure did when I read this! I was jealous! I would have LOVED to have been there. Alas, I live in Oregon. There is nothing but liberals here, and no history.

My first thought when I read this was that someone will point out its missing the “natural born citizen” part and then someone will claim its the “real deal” and so Obama the usurper cannot be proved ineligible to hold office.

This reminds me of a story a few months ago about some woman from the Vatican who discovered some writing on the Shroud

LOL

Even if it did (or didn’t) the only one that would have mattered was the one signed and ratified by the soon to be states.

Still, I would love to bury myself inside certain libraries in Virginia, Philly and DC.... I am such a bookworm. LOL

It clearly shows the process of thought and strengthens the Natural Born Clause

There is a far larger group that would cut it up and use it as “rollin’ papers.” They all have one vote per person.

what do you want to bet that they next announce this “original draft” specified health care as a right, said that corporations are not people, and that “well regulated militia” means the National Guard?
