House Democrats On The Record: Passing The Senate Health Care Bill Not An Option
REPUBLICAN LEADER PRESS OFFICE ^ | January 20, 2010 | House Republican Leader John Boehner

Posted on 01/20/2010 8:45:30 AM PST by RightSideNews

Following the Democrats' stunning defeat in the Senate special election in Massachusetts yesterday, House Democrats are scrambling to figure out another way to force a costly government takeover of health care on the American people. The top House Democratic leaders seem comfortable with attempting to pass the Senate health care takeover bill in the House. However, numerous House Democratic members are already on the record saying the Senate bill is a nonstarter. Will they flip-flop now and bow to their leaders, who are intent on defying the will of the American people? Here's a sampling of what some House Democratic rank-and-file members said about the Senate bill prior to last night's developments in Massachusetts:

We can arrange “lamp post decorations” as well if this goes too far.

If your friend is so “compassionate” that he believes that “we” should pay for everyone’s healthcare,

I’m sure that he has personally, out of his own pocket, paid for someone’s healthcare voluntarily before trying to force everyone else to do it too.

Did you happen to hear Gov. Ed Rendell this morning on Fox and Friends? He said that the Dems should push full steam ahead, that the Republicans were the ones standing in the way of real progress on health care reform and they have not contributed anything substantive to discussions re tort reform or individuals being able to buy insurance across state lines!!! I started screaming at the tv - not a good way to start the day. Funny, we can’t stand in anyone’s way - that is until yesterday - and tort reform and insurance options are our ideas!!! What twilight zone are we in?

He doesn't get it, his narcissism stands in the way of any cognitive thinking on his part.

He does get it. He has to honor his promise to his backers.

“Did you happen to hear Gov. Ed Rendell this morning on Fox and Friends?”

I’m on the ‘left’ coast & don’t get up early enough to catch F&F, unfortunately. Ed Rendell is a fool. But so are most of the Dems! :-)

They defy logic and reason

You answered your own question. They defy logic and reason. They would rather win than be right. It is a stupid and corrupt world view that ultimately fails but in the meantime causes untold pain for decent people.

Once it sinks in that they are NOT acting logically it becomes easier to understand but just as frustrating to deal with since it seems like they are causing so much unnecessary pain for others, which is exactly what they are doing.

“...I know it would be easier if I could live my life without compassion and understanding for my fellow man. If I could do that I would be a republican too.”

Your replay was good, but too long. A better reply might be:

“I’m glad I’m not so heartless that I could pretend to be compassionate by backing solutions I knew wouldn’t work, then I’d be a Democrat.”

During the run-up to the Iraq war, the dems refered to the GOP as the “GOP Taliban”.

How about we call them “Al-QaidaCrats”?

Yup. And while you’re correct that you won’t get through to him, you might make sense to some lurkers. I try to stay away from politics on facebook. But when they start I’ll jump in. More than once when I’ve made some great points, the whole thread just disappears... poof!

It’s not just an income redistribution scheme, it’s the hugest example of political payola mankind ever had the misfortune to witness.

“the democrats are making a huge political mistake...” What if it’s not a mistake? What if Obama is intentionally forcing us into a revolution... a violent one... a perfect crisis so that he can declare marshall law, destroy the right, take over the internet, and declare himself ruler of the U.S.S.A.?

Now, more than ever, vigilance is required of not only true Patriots, but all Americans concerned with the course and future of the Republic.
I could not agree more with that statement.

I think about Kevin Costner's line in the Untouchables that he yelled at Al Capone after the trial was over: "Never stop fighting until the fighting is done!"

Like Al Capone, they will explore every opportunity, however sleazy or illegal, to try to avoid this electoral "verdict." We must be willing to keep the pressure on and stay alert and vigilant.

“You forgot the third (3) one: KEEP THE DAMN GOVERNMENT OUT OF THE BUSINESS OF HEALTH CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

I think my first paragraph took care of that. I’ve written them all before that federal involvement in health care is unconstitutional. They all insist it isn’t. I just hope this race is having a ‘wake up’ effect!

They feel ANY healthcare passed now will be worth losing the Congress and the White House.

Commies always think long term. Once they get the first bill passed, they can continue to build on their progress for the next few decades.

You’ve heard of the “camel’s nose under the tent” right? That’s what the Dems want to do. Get their noses under the healthcare tent and then slowly crawl inside.

My understanding of the nuclear option is that the bill is reconfigured in such a way that only 51 votes, or a simple majority, is needed rather than 60.

But since some major parts of both the House and senate bills would have to be taken out to fit the "reconciliation" (51 senate votes) model, they have another idea:

The house could vote to pass the senate bill as it is (not clear that Pelosi can pull that off). Then they could write a separate bill that made changes to its budgetary aspects only (in that way it would fit the "reconciliation model") and pass that later with only 51 votes (assuming they could get 51 votes after they saw what happened to Coakley).

When Pelosi says "One way or another" she may be thinking of something like this.

I have heard that from other leftists. Rendell is reading off the new Dem talking points.
