Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin placed a phone call to Sen.-elect Scott Brown Tuesday night to congratulate the Republican on his upset victory in Massachusetts's special Senate election.
"Governor Palin spoke with a very happy Senator-elect Brown this evening and congratulated him on his most historic victory for not only Massachusetts but the nation," Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton told POLITICO.
In an appearance on Fox News after The Associated Press called the election for Brown, Palin hailed the Republican's win as "a step for taking our country back."
"This is a referendum on all those things that President Obama has been standing for," the 2008 vice presidential candidate told Fox's Greta Van Susteren. "It was many different factors all coming together and thank God for that, I think a lot of the people will say, because this is a step for taking our country back."
Asked by Van Susteren to explain why she did not formally endorse Brown before the election, Palin praised Brown's campaign for relying on "shoe-leather" campaigning instead of national surrogates.
"I would have" endorsed him, she said, "if he had requested it."
In a posting on her Facebook page, Palin added: "Americans cheered for Scott Browns underdog campaign because they viewed his candidacy as a vote against the Democrats' health care bill. You know that there's something wrong with this legislation when opposition to it inspired a Republican victory in a state that currently has no Republicans in Congress and last sent a Republican to the Senate nearly 40 years ago."
Sarah always makes a good point.
Freeper nation has helped now it is time to help Freeper nation.. donation is need to keep it going so we can Freep Reed and Nelson ....... and all the other Weasels.....
Donate... this is important..
pls pass along
What would have happened, let’s say, if Sarah said that the Taliban weren’t in Afghanistan?
I am sure he was sitting on the edge of his seat waiting for the call.
I think we all know, just as we all know Sarah wouldn't say anything that stupid ever. Only the dems get to make brain-dead statements and get the ho-hum response.
So much for the spin that Brown "didn't want" her to campaign for him. I think Palin played it smart by simply not making any overtures and letting Brown do his thing.
I am sure he was sitting on the edge of his seat waiting for the call.
...................
I’m pretty sure he didn’t think of it as a great inconvenience. Talk about an uncalled for remark. Who needs haters like you on a night like this.
If she's going to be a Fox News analyst, she should bring something to the table other than generalities.
Yup, Sarah played that one right. And Steele was smart for supporting Brown discreetly. Getting the votes of all those pissed off democrats was like trying to get friendly with stray cats, there had to be no sudden moves, and they had to feel like their vote for Brown was one of rebellion, not support of the evil GOP.
absolutely every rat, weasel is a target..
Freeper nation is a tool that is important ...
My local watering hole is featuring a special drink, a Senator Brown; it’s raspberries with bitters, free to Democrat drinkers.
Agreed.
Had Gov. Palin campaigned for him, we'd be waking up to Senator-Elect Coakley. The right came out to vote--it was won by the moderate vote that crossed over and went GOP.
Palin has gotten a lot more savvy here lately...this bodes VERY well for her ... very impressive...magritte
I would have loved to heard that conversation!
Me thinks/hopes you are only using heavy sarcasm, due to the fact that Sarah was attacked so outrageously after her Beck/ O`hole interviews.
I listened to the entire phone call with Gretta, and the only thing wrong was the phone connection. Sounded like she may have been on a cell phone, other than that she was right on the money!
And she was certainly right about this as being a step at taking our country back. Quite frankly, that's all I care about right now.
Brown will carry Mass for Sarah in 2012 and 2016.
