I read later that he went to the bathroom then came back to his seat and said he was sick pulling a blanket over his head and then trying to assemble the bomb under the blanket in his lap. So he probably took the material out of his underwear in the bathroom.

Still if it was in his lap it was close......

Flight security stiffened after failed plot

We keep running into these instances of aircraft spontaneously detonating during flight...

Case in point TWA 800...We were all pretty much told to shut up and accept the “official” account of that tragedy...

Then they got someone into the front office of that Egyptian Airliner that augered into the drink saying Alluha Ackbar that was recorded on the F.D.R.

If you look at where he was sitting...If that thing had gone off the way they wanted to, we would still be scratching our heads on this one...There is no way that his sitting on a bulkhead seat, right over the wing root is chance...

SNIPPET: “Abdulmutallab attended the British School in Lome, Togo. The friend added: “About three years ago we were talking about 9/11 (in 2001). I was saying under no circumstances could it ever be okay to kill all those innocent people. He was much more equivocal.

“He said 9/11 was an act of war — that American troops were on Saudi soil and had humiliated Muslim countries so these actions might be necessary. That’s the only time I ever had an argument with him. He was normally very careful what he said.”

Abdulmutallab was a student at University College London (UCL) between 2005 and 2008 before returning to Nigeria. If he had been radicalised, neighbours from his time as a UCL did not notice.”

SNIPPET: “But reports in Nigera quoted members of the extended Abdulmutallab family saying that he had travelled to Yemen in recent years during his university holidays to study at an Islamic institute.

He is reported in America to have told investigators he acquired the bomb-making equipment from Al-Qaeda terrorists in Yemen.

It emerged yesterday that Abdulmutallab was known to US counter-terrorism intelligence officials.

Peter King, from the American Homeland Security Committee, said “my understanding is … that (the suspect] does have al-Qaeda connections, certainly extremist terrorist connections, and his name popped up pretty quickly” in a search of intelligence databases. However, he was not on a “no-fly” list.”

Call me silly, but it seems to me that one might conclude that black African nations such as Nigeria might be slightly more technically advanced in terms of running water, power, construction, medical care and roads if their citizens have such a pervasive aptitude for engineering as you seem to think.

As to the rest, if you’re saying that Mutallub screwed up, I’d agree. I also agree that stupid new security routines will evolve from this rather than doing something meaningful, such as the difference between making 90 yr.-old Jewish men drop their pants to check for fuses vs. profiling Middle easterners and Africans without passports.

The idiot didn't expect to survive this attack...too bad for him, the burn unit is the hardest to work...morphine doesn't take away the pain and you take the dressings off 3 times a day and give morphine before just to try to make it tolerable....

I can hazard a guess that this boy has no balls....maybe no penis either......Had to be in deep shock when removed from plane thats why he had a look as if there was nothing there...(read that on one of the threads)..probably wasn't..
