Twelve people have been killed and 31 wounded in a shooting spree at a Texas military base by what officials believe was possibly carried out by an Army officer.
The suspected gunman was identified by ABC News as Major Malik Nadal Hasan.
The shooter was killed and two other suspects, who are also soldiers, have been apprehended, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone said.
The gunman used two handguns, Cone said. He wasn't sure if the shooter reloaded the weapons during the attack.
"NidalHasan scribbled: There was a grenade thrown amongs(t) a group of American soldiers. One of the soldiers, feeling that it was to late for everyone to flee jumped on the grave with the intention of saving his comrades. Indeed he saved them. He inentionally took his life (suicide) for a noble cause i.e. saving the lives of his soldier. To say that this soldier committed suicide is inappropriate. Its more appropriate to say he is a brave hero that sacrificed his life for a more noble cause. Scholars have paralled this to suicide bombers whose intention, by sacrificing their lives, is to help save Muslims by killing enemy soldiers. If one suicide bomber can kill 100 enemy soldiers because they were caught off guard that would be considered a strategic victory. Their intention is not to die because of some despair. The same can be said for the Kamikazees in Japan. They died (via crashing their planes into ships) to kill the enemies for the homeland. You can call them crazy i you want but their act was not one of suicide that is despised by Islam. So the scholars main point is that "IT SEEMS AS THOUGH YOUR INTENTION IS THE MAIN ISSUE" and Allah (SWT) knows best."
I might add here Freepers, that the online doc this Hasan is referring to appears to be of a Wahabbist (Salafist) source, but needs more looking into.
This needs to be verified. One would also wonder why somebody like this would use their real name and not a handle (like the fellow who had posted the original thread used "Riz Khan 999" (a takeoff obviously on Al-Jazeera reporter Riz Khan)....
The PTSD was put forward by Col.Lee, and by OTHER military talking heads. The cousin never mentioned PTSD.
This “poor good American” Muslim doctor will now get his own TV show after Oprah has him on her couch.
The fog of war as Rumsfeld would say.
Of course it has nothing to do w/a violent religion that brainwashes you to hatred. Move along....
Pray for Ft Hood
Nor does it appear (under this current administration) that a death sentence will be in his future.
And that's why I uttered my wish that he be post-birth aborted now.
Not very nice of me, I know. I yam what I yam.
It’s a hell of a thing.
This is all very mysterious- for hours we were told he was dead. Deliberate misinformation to see if anyone could be smoked out?
It’s just sooo bizarre.
Bill Cowen on now- he’s not sounding too on top of things...has an odd attitude- trying hard to avoid the whole muslim connection..

I DON’T KNOW IF THIS REPORT IS CURRENT OR CORRECT.
They’re even afraid to ask the question, aren’t they?
no prob Kim. I did not think you were giving this murderer an excuse.
Yeah, I agree...
I agree, Cowan is way behind on the facts.
Of course they won’t address the issue, that would be racist. The only group you can denigrate is White Males.
Pray for America and Ft Hood

Fort Hood shooter a devout, observant Muslim
Evidently he was not a convert to Islam, but was a lifelong — and observant — Muslim. “At least 12 killed in shooting at Fort Hood, Tex.,” by William Branigin and Carrie Johnson for the Washington Post, November 5 (thanks to Peter Collier):
[...] Hasan was a psychiatrist, according to acquaintances of his in Washington, and a Pentagon source said he was recently reassigned from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington to work with soldiers at Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood.
Hasan was a U.S. citizen, according to Virginia voting records, and his parents are Palestinians from the West Bank, according to his aunt, Noel Hasan of Falls Church. He was born at Arlington Hospital Center.
Hasan, 39, had lived in Montgomery County, Md., and Arlington, Va., in addition to Roanoke and nearby Vinton, Va. He graduated from Virginia Tech and earned his medical degree at Bethesda’s Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, records show.
Hasan attended the Muslim Community Center in Silver Spring and was “very devout,” according to Faizul Khan, a former imam at the center. Khan said Hasan attended prayers at least once a day, seven days a week, often in his Army fatigues.
Khan also said Hasan applied to an annual matrimonial seminar that matches Muslims looking for spouses. “I don’t think he ever had a match, because he had too many conditions,” Khan said.
I understand - just wondering if I’d done something that set you off. I’m upset too - especially with the latest news that the perp is still alive.

okay, ya’ll are getting me confused. We can all agree someone said it, and that there is no way it can be true.
But we can’t run off the islamics from our military (or country), that would violate all kinds of PC laws. It doesn’t matter that they’re a serious security risk because their religion teaches them to be violent psychopaths.
Makes you wonder why his injuries weren’t fatal after so many were killed or injured.
This was a terror attack against America by an Islamic radical. Whether the murderer coordinated his efforts with others doesn't change that fact.
Meanwhile, the government and the media are doing everything in their politically correct power to wish away reality.
